I find it interesting that people would rather not wait a few weeks, because normally a large part of this crowd would have bought the original switch this week
So basically, the models have more or less swapped the numbers for the week.
At least until Lite production is potentially affected as well.
@ZeldaNX Exactly this.... They really must want a Switch. I would wait to get the version I preferred.
I can imagine people who've been saving to buy the console thinking "Well crap, I guess I'll just use the difference to buy a few extra games, I don't want to wait any longer!"
Personally, I'd wait, I've said a many times I don't like the Switch Lite. But if it was the Switch Lite or wait who knows how long, I'd settle for the Lite!
And that's probably part of it. With the way the media, even in Japan, is hyping up Coronavirus or "corvid19" as they are calling it here, people are probably worried the delay could be months or longer. The media is making this virus sound like it's the end of days. So pack it in guys, this time next year we're all gonna be dead!
So Nintendo manufactured the coronavirus to push the Lite ahead of og Switch...
Well played. I don't like it, but I admire the ambition.
Only 45 3ds sold?? Is that correct wow this thing really is on its last legs
@Tonyo Yep. And I'm still playing my New 3DS XL everyday. Still have so mucha games to do on it ! What a console !
This is both good and bad news
Looks like the Switch Lite is going to overtake the PS4 Pro over there shortly...
My L button, hinge and battery are losing the fight on my 3ds.
I will get another one, XL this time, with metroid and a pokemon game if there is a sale.
@Bobobiwan me too. Fav handheld ever for me. Switch will never come close. The first party content on 3ds is better than any other nintendo generation imo incl wii, gamecube, n64 and yes even snes
Animal Crossing hype is also probably playing a role in strong overall Switch sales despite shortages on the normal Switch SKU.
@Tonyo Still outsold the Xbox One
The switch lite would be near perfect if it had an hdmi out. I can’t be the only one who thinks this?
@KIRO ...and detachable joy-cons.
Took this photo today at yodobashi camera in akihabara of a sign explaining shortages of swiitches, joycon and ring fit adventure due to the corona virus.

Ouch. You know 3DS production is almost nil when the numbers in Japan are that low.
Even with Switch shortages it still beats both PS4 and Xbox One models combined and that's not counting the Switch Lite's sale, like really I thought Sony says PS4 isn't affected by the Coronavirus.
@BANJO I would also wait for the restock!
@Tonyo Still better than Xbone in Japan sells on average. XD
I’m always amazed how appalling x box sales are in Japan. Are they selling them out the back of a van?
