With the game finally launching on a Nintendo system last year, and with protagonist Cloud being a playable character in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Final Fantasy VII has never been more popular with Nintendo fans. Perhaps you'd like to celebrate that fact with one of these lovely looking watches? Perhaps you'd also like to consider remortgaging your house?
Square Enix has revealed two watches for sale - the silver one is called the Cloud Edition, while the black one is the Sephiroth Edition - and a waiting list for both has appeared on the company's official store. You can check them out in the images and official description below.
Square Enix is very proud to present this incredible chronograph timepiece with an automatic movement manufactured by Seiko Instruments of Japan and an all-black coating including a Black Materia inspired onyx crown to achieve a remarkable look truly inspired by Sephiroth.
In collaboration with K-uno’s artisans, amazing handcrafted detail was put into every piece that will make any FINAL FANTASY VII fan stunned! From the exposed mechanics of the all-glass back panel to the FINAL FANTASY VII logo embossed rotor, with 3D One-Winged Angel emblem and finishing with a Mako inspired mother-of-pearl central disk.
This limited edition Chronograph will be made in Japan, with a unique North American serial number and up to 77 pieces made per region. This spectacular piece includes a special case and will be the centerpiece of anyone’s collection for years to come!
So, how much should you expect to hand over for one of these? A whopping $2,500. Wowzers. You can go ahead and check them out for yourself here if you're interested.
If our maths is correct, you can buy 156 copies of the game from the Switch eShop for that price. Why are we wasting our time working out things like this? We've no idea.

Edit. My question has been answered. Thank you.
Can I just buy the box for a fiver?
I'm not a watch person, and even if I was I don't think I would ever even consider buying this, no matter how big of a fan of Final Fantasy I am
But the "iconographs" on the face has nothing to do with FF VII, if anything the silver one looks more like Squal Lionheart's sigul from FF VIII.
What a waste

Seiko Instruments
@carlos82 I came here to make the same joke! Have an upvote for getting there first.
You know what, I'll stick with my Apple Watch Series 5 thanks. I can make a variety of gaming watch faces & it's actually a hell of a lot cheaper than this. It's a nice watch, don't get me wrong. But not worth $2,500. LOL.
A watch is one of the only accessories Final Fantasy characters don't wear in the game. I'll wait for arm belts to come out
@Ryu_Niiyama Seiko
I never found the point in big expensive watches. They just look boring and samey, with no purpose other than telling time
2,500 for Seiko is a bit crazy. K.UNO is not even an old Jeweler (they like from the 80s) so not sure why that would mean much.
I guess better than all the GO-GO Gadget Watches out there
I am still amazed when people walk in our events in a nice suit but wearing an Apple Watch as a dress watch - power to them.
Who uses watches anymore? We have plenty of sources for time
"protagonist Cloud being a playable character in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Final Fantasy VII has never been more popular with Nintendo fans" love how you have to justify it that way to make the post since this obviously meant to play into the hype for the remaster not coming to Switch. No one would be mad.
Not Seiko’s first video game-branded watch. They made some Super Mario themed watches a few years ago, much cheaper than this. I see them occasionally on eBay.
Do they come with a date with a real life Tifa?
@Gwynbleidd Wrong Seiko make very high end and expensive watches for the Japanese market, people often think of Seiko as entry/mid tier but they are really not, they cater to all markets
I've been using that symbol on basically everything for the past ten years. Buying a watch with it is certainly tempting.
Its already sold out.
Wonder what movement it uses. Should be Grand Seiko at that price.
Ehh...even if I didn't think these kinds of watches were a huge waste of money already, the design is very...bland. Not that I could afford it anyways, I suppose...
Can someone please explain to me why is it that price? 2,500 dollars sounds stupidly expensive, is it made with real silver or gold or something?
...I don't get it...
@Taarna see, I've got an omega seamaster but I agree with you. Seiko do indeed make very good, inhouse built internals and even the low end watches are worth their price tags. I mainly wear my Casio Edifice for everyday use but I can appreciate the craftsmanship that goes in to all tiers of watches. Be it a £100 time piece or a £100,000 one.
They both look good but I'd never buy the black one, as they tend to lose tint at the each unavoidable tiny scratch.
@Chibi_Manny there are very precise reasons why some automatic (=that do not need a battery) watches cost that much, most are hand made and certified, and made with particular material, and I'm just talking about the very basic ones.
If you find this watch too expensive, then take a look at the ones by Credor that go for around $400000.
What's the point of owning them? Some people consider them an investment, some other just want to display their status, some believe that owning one will make them happier or at least look cooler, and so on. It's really like buying a supercar or a huge house: do you really need them? No, you don't. But people keep on buying them.
@frogopus that's a good point, I'd feel a bit embarrassed to display the logo of a videogame in some environments. The more subtle, the better.
@Smashfan502 that has nothing to do with my embarrassment, it's just that you should always be able to adapt your behavior to the context you find yourself. In fact you shouldn't even wear such things at all in a serious context, as that shows you're focused to the task you're taking care of.
