Over the past few years, Sega has released quite a lot of Puyo Puyo games on the Nintendo Switch. We got Puyo Puyo Tetris in 2017 and Puyo Puyo Champions was localised last year. The Sega AGES version of the original was also made available here in the west in 2019 and earlier this month Puyo Puyo Tsu arrived in Japan.
If you still need more Puyo Puyo in your life, then you should consider tuning into Sega's 'Puyo Day 2020 Livestream' next month on 4th February (8:00 pm JST) over on YouTube or the Japanese video streaming service NicoNico Live. Sega will reportedly be sharing "24 pieces of news" during the broadcast β including updates on each Puyo Puyo title β and there'll also be various events such as a segment featuring the top Puyo Puyo Champions players.
For some added context, "2-4" reads as "Pu-Yo" in Japanese, which matches the date of Puyo Day (February 4) and also explains why exactly 24 news items will be shared during the event (thanks, Siliconera). Of course, this could only mean one thing β Puyo Puyo for Smash! No, not really, but that's what some enthusiastic fans are now thinking. After all, if tetrominos are in consideration, a Puyo Puyo representative should also be in with a chance.

Maybe they're coming out with puyo puyo soccer, puyo puyo dance party, puyo puyo racing, puyo puyo no more puyo, puyo puyo goldeneye, puyo puyo puyo puyo, puyo puyo cook off, puyo puyo die hard, puyo puyo zelda, puyo puyo smash puyo, puyo puyo zit poppers and puyo puyo advanced wars. I um, heard all of these were coming out from a reputable source, I think.

@Venus_Adept That's a good idea. If you buy both puyo puyo pu and puyo puyo yo, the cartridges connect to each and create the Ultimate puyo puyo game. This game would combine all the puyo puyo games in the comment section together as one game. So, it would be playing the Witcher named puyo playing with a soccer ball in early China while dancing and breathing fire etc. This game would probably win the award of Best Game of All Time Period. Hehe

Sega has been aaaalllll about announcements about announcements recently. Something good has to come out of at least one of them right? Exciting times! 2020 seems to be a big year for Sega

@Xylnox you joke about "Puyo Puyo Dance Party", but there actually was a Puyo-themed rhythm game on the Dreamcast. It apparently wasn't all that great.

I actually think it's possible one of the next fighters will be an Indie character; possibly Shantae, with Mighty Switch Force/Flip Champs as Mii costumes. Pirate Shantae, with the flintlock pistol costume for Mii Gunner, and/or other shantae characters could be other Mii costumes. All Just a guess on my part. No sources, though Shantae is already a spirit.
I'm hoping for these:
-Puyo Puyo Tetris on Switch FINALLY getting JP voices via update
-Puyo Puyo Champions getting some DLC

As far as core Puyo gameplay is concerned, Puyo Tetris and Puyo Champions are all you'll ever need for multiplayer, both online and offline.., but some of the singleplayer elements from the other games are still lacking, such as a solid arcade mode. It would honestly be nice to get Puyo Puyo Fever 2's cutscenes and unlockable library books translated into English, for example, since there's some interesting tidbits and lore in there. So if there were still yet more Puyo to come, both old ports and new entries, I'd welcome them all.
I would also like to see some of the Puyo spin-offs such as Waku Waku Puyo Puyo Dungeon come along too. ...I bet most people didn't even know there WAS a Mystery Dungeon-style game in the Puyo series.
@EarthboundBenjy Having first known of Puyo when PPT came along (Mean Bean Machine was off my radar), it was a complete... ahem... mystery to me.

I really want to get into Puyo Puyo. I've already gotten Puyo Puyo Tetris, since I am a huge Tetris fan, but I kinda want to get Champions to learn more of Puyo. I'll wait for a sale, since it's only 5 bucks.
On another side, looking forward for the livestream. Hopefully we'll get a port of the 3DS or mobile games, or maybe a new game!
