Natsume president Hiro Maekawa recently shared a special message reflecting on last year and looking ahead to the future.
He stated how the Japanese publisher, responsible for series such as Harvest Moon, was hard at work on "exciting new projects" for this year and beyond:
We are currently working on exciting new projects to continue to make our worldwide fans happy in 2020 and beyond. So, please stay tuned.
In addition to this, the president spoke about how it was great to finish off another decade by releasing Reel Fishing: Road Trip Adventure, Harvest Moon: Mad Dash and Harvest Moon: Light of Hope Special Edition on multiple platforms including the Switch last year.
Harvest Moon: Light of Hope Special Edition, in particular, has maintained its sales momentum both physically and digitally and continues to set new records.
Did you play any Natsume games released on the Nintendo Switch last year? Tell us in the comments.

I've been loyal to Harvest Moon for years, but I was hurt by the split a couple years back. Interesting to see what they have planned though.
I take a look at new Harvest Moon type games in like 3 years when I finally get my fill of Animal Crossing New Horizons.
Lemme guess.
Another cheap mobile looking "Harvest Moon" games with console price. 😒
Adios, Natsume.
Your current games are suck 100 %.
Stick on Story of Seasons for the real Harvest Moon games.
I will stick with Stardew Valley until Animal Crossing NH drops.
Somehow I doubt that any of them are that exciting.
"Harvest Moon"
The only Natsume game I bought last year was The Ninja Saviors, which was excellent. 👍
I might possibly be interested in something not Harvest Moon-related from them this year, but who knows.
Btw, this is probably old news by now, but just in case anyone still hasn't heard yet:
Some time after the 3DS came out, the creators of Harvest Moon broke off from Natsume so that they could self-publish their games in the west, but Natsume held on to the rights to the Harvest Moon name. Meaning that the most recent "Harvest Moon" games are in-name-only, with the original series now going by the name "Story Of Seasons".
So, if you're a long-time Harvest Moon fan who's bummed out by the new direction in which Natsume has taken the brand, or a new fan wishing to see what all the fuss is about, check out Story Of Seasons instead.
@Heavyarms55 I have yet to pick up Stardew Valley though I have wanted to for quite awhile now. Harvest Moon took an ugly turn for the worst and don't think there's much chance in reviving it.
I'm impatiently waiting for the NA release of Story of Seasons: Friends of Mineral Town for the Switch coming sometime in 2020.
Fogu.com has some great info on it.
Oh no. Just please go away.
What ever they are they will be a steaming pile of poo.
Obligatory reminder that publishers are to developers as patrons are to artists and in this case, Pope Natsume kicked Michelangelo out of the Harvest Moon chapel and he went off to paint Story of Seasons instead.
Trying not to import bokumono rather than wait for the story of seasons localization.
Not Really looking Forward to it. i'll stick with Animal Crossing, Stardew Valley, and Story of Seasons.
These guys need to play Stardew Valley and try and compete. Harvest Moon for now still has weight in its name but its been a long long time since we had a quality one.
Reading through these comments, I can see most of you are terrible people.
@Raccoonius But your aware that the actual Harvest Moon games are now localized as 'Story of Seasons", right?
Natsume more or less stole the trademark from Marvelous, so they had to change the name of the franchise.
@Seacliff Yes, I am well aware of the change and the reasons why.
What?? They didn't 'steal' the name/trademark whatever. They own it.
As far as sim games go... WHERE IS MY NEW STYLE SAVVY GAME? I'd even settle for a port of the 3DS ones. I mean that game had several releases, I figured the franchise was doing well enough. Although I guess the last one never got a physical release so maybe not. Still now that people have all moved to the Switch, it's time to make a come back.
I want Style Savvy and more than Animal Crossing x_x
Let's get Harvest Moon on SNES Nintendo Switch Online! That would be pretty exciting imo.
@Kirby_Girl
Well, there was a Fashion game on Nintendo Switch despite it only Japan version.
It was Model Debut #Nicola
Oh, i think you will like this also.
Pretty Princess Magical Coordinate
Style Savvy Styling Star has a physical release, Japan and PAL version only. The PAL version has been released with title New Style Boutique 3: Styling Star.
@Freelance They didn't steal it, this is true. But they are coasting mostly on lack of awareness from consumers that the "Harvest Moon" they're selling has nothing to do with most of the "Harvest Moon" games fans have actually enjoyed. They're releasing mobile phone styled shovelware at a ludicrously high price point with even more ludicrously priced DLC, hoping people will buy it. And considering they keep dropping more and more, it seems like people are, even if the games have all been terribly received.
@SpacedDuck That's because it's not the same series. The Story of Seasons games are the name of the new "Harvest Moon" games, meanwhile Natsume just owns the rights to the name.
@Anti-Matter Eh these seem like cool recommendations. I wish I knew Japanese. Not sure that Style Savvy PAL version will play on my 3DS. I'm US. Pretty Princess Magical Coordinate looks cute but I like the clothes in Style Savvy more. I like clothes that are more realistic? Basically stuff I totally would wear if I could wear more cute clothes lol. I'll keep a look out for any western translation releases of the suggested games. Thanks.
Glad to know Natsume will continue to scam fans of 'Harvest Moon' that have no idea the idea of the game they loved long left the company 👀
Interested more in this game after reading the book: Blood, Sweat and Pixels.
@Seacliff Sorry, but you're misinformed and are spreading misinformation. Do some research first instead of listening to rumors.
Natsume had OWNED the right to use the trademark. Natsume were the ones publishing and translating Harvest Moon since the very first Harvest Moon games up until after the N64 one. They're responsible for bringing the games to the West. The games were developed by another team (I forget the name) that Marvelous LATER bought.
Marvelous then wanted to have XSeed translate/localize the games to save money (Marvelous owns XSeed), but because the original Harvest Moon development team had a contract with Natsume, Marvelous essentially inherited that contract and had Natsume continue to publish the games. Once the contract was over, they broke off from Natsume and changed the name to Story of Seasons as Natsume still had the rights to the Harvest Moon trademark.
Without Natsume, you wouldn't have had all these Harvest Moon games to begin with.
@wantmew 'stole' was a figure of speech. The issue is that Natsume could have created their own franchise, but decided to lean on the brand recognition of an already established franchise. I respect them for localizing the titles for nearly two decades, and I'll respect that they still own the name. However, remakes of older Harvest Moon games are being rebranded as Story of Seasons games, making Natsume self-devoloped games a different franchise, making their current use of the trademark is misleading at best.
