Pokémon Sword And Shield Easter Eggs - Things You Might Have Missed

Both Pokémon Sword and Shield feature a rich world full of things to see and do, and it's easy to miss little things as you wander around the Galar region catching Pokémon, seeing the sights and generally enjoying yourself in Sword and Shield.

Below we've rounded up a few of the smaller Easter Eggs, moments or features that you might have missed in your eagerness to get stuck in to the Galar region and fill out your Galar Pokédex.

Change the colour of the Joy-Con on the Switch in your bedroom

When you first started out on your Pokémon Sword and Shield adventure, you probably noticed the Nintendo Switch console sitting on your character's desk at home. What you may not have noticed is the fact that the Joy-Con attached to it will be exactly the same as the ones you have attached to the system at the time. Swap them for different colours and the change will take effect when you leave the house and return to your room. Neat!

Get a birthday greeting from the game

Don't feel bad if you haven't seen this one yet - it all depends on when your birthday falls. In Wedgehurst talk to an odd woman who claims to be a fortune teller outside the Poké Center and she'll ask for your birthday before disappearing. Hmm, now what could that be for?

As discovered by several people on Twitter who did just that (and luckily had their birthday fall on a date since the game launched), it appears walking into a Poké Center on your birthday will get you a little celebration of sorts. Just a little confetti and a message, you understand, although we'd have enjoyed seeing our team of six Pokémon break out of their Poké Balls and give us the bumps. Maybe in a patch?

Strike a pose by spinning the analogue stick

If for some reason you find yourself twiddling your thumbs while playing Pokémon Sword and Shield, try twiddling your thumbs. By rapidly rotating the left analogue stick your Pokémon Trainer will do a twirl which turns into a spin before pulling out a devastating finishing move worthy of the very strongest Pokémon in your team. Rearrange the icons on your menu screen

This one is hiding in plain sight but is still easy to miss. You can customise your menu screen in Pokémon Sword and Shield and give it a personal touch by hitting 'Y' and shuffling the icons into whatever order you desire. Sure, it's not exactly flashy or 'secret', but it's a handy and overlooked little feature (we'd been playing for many hours until we noticed it).

Get down with your Pokémon while camping

While camping with your Pokémon you can click the analogue stick to kneel down for an even closer look at your Pocket Monsters as you play and speak with them. A tiny detail, but if you're looking to snap shots as your favourite critters frolic in the fields, it could help you get just the angle you're looking for.
