Mario

If you're hoping to get your hands on a new Mario game or two in the not-too-distant future, it looks like you might just be in luck.

Nintendo has posted two new job listings on its official Japanese site today, calling for talented individuals who know a thing or two about level design. The first listing is for a 2D action game, with the second being for a 3D action game. Both jobs are searching for someone who can create courses and complete gameplay and bug checks.

Apart from the job listings which appeared specifically for the Zelda: Breath of the Wild sequel a few months back, Nintendo usually avoids revealing which game or series any potential jobs are intended for. However, a tweet advertising the 2D level design job just so happens to show off lots of images from 2D Nintendo games - almost all of the images selected are of Mario titles.

The 3D listing also features an image of Mario, although we'd argue this looks a little more like a generic picture simply relating to the company.

Obviously, we can't know for sure what these listings are for, but it'd be pretty silly to assume that Nintendo wouldn't be working on new Mario games as we speak - and that 2D listing has us particularly intrigued.

Are you hopeful for more Mario games in the near(ish) future? Is that a silly question? Let us know what you'd like to see next from the series in the comments below.
