Earlier this year, Nintendo jumped on the ASMR bandwagon when it uploaded a special "Sights & Sounds" video advertising The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild that highlighted the great outdoors and the portable features of the Switch.
Months on, it has now shared another video for this same series, and this time it's for Super Mario Maker 2. It runs for close to three-minutes and was filmed by YouTube video creator Devin Graham at Channel Islands Beach, Ventura, California. Throughout the clip, you can hear the sounds of the sea, button pressing and everything else you would normally associate with ASMR. Nintendo recommends you wear headphones for the best experience.
ASMR is an abbreviation for autonomous sensory meridian response and by definition is characterised by a static or tingling sensation on the skin. Videos like the one above are designed to relax listeners with gentle, soothing and satisfying sounds, and in this particular case, convince them to buy a Switch.
Did you expect to see another Nintendo commerical like this? Does this make you want to play or buy a Switch and a copy of Super Mario Maker 2? Tell us below.

Am I the only one who doesnt get ASMR?
It's creepy is what it is. I looked it up once and some girl was describing the feeling of several make up brushes as she rubbed them back and fourth on her arms while whispering the entire time. I'm like is this supposed to relax me?
Seems more like foreplay to me. Nomatter what the subject of the ASMR video is i can't help feeling uncomfortable watching.
@Zeldafan79 @Yoshinator @PBandSmelly Here's how it works:
Some people find certain sounds and visuals relaxing. Other people don't.
Yea, that's about it.
Who cares? What about additional content and those extra game styles?
“Aah yeah... George”
Man, nothing gets me tingling like low-key references to George. I’m on ASMR planet right now. My autonomous senses are responding at peak meridian.
It’s just... mmm... george... mmmhmm... hahhh...
I dislike ASMR, the first thing I want to do with such videos is turn up the volume because it is too quiet, and sometimes even that doesn't help it.
Some people like it and that's fine, but I'm not one of such people.
ASMR = Bob Ross
That is all...
What? AM2R? Sorry I couldn’t help myself.
Does nothing for me, but I can at least see how it could work with Breath of the Wild. But Mario Maker 2 and all those insane death traps and constant bombardment of bleepy noises? Seems entirely antithetical to the point to me.
What are they doing? ASMR makes my skin crawl and liking this is just plain weird
ASMR?!? I feel older and older every single day
I just found out last week what vaping is. Seems like everyday the older i get the less i know what the hell is going on.
"I used to be with it, But then they changed what it was. Now what was it isn't it and what's it seems weird and scary to me. It'll happen to you!" Abraham simpson.
Waluigi ASMR? Please?
Never hold a Switch on 1 joycon, it might break of. Besides, the sounds of the waves are compressed.
