Earlier this year, prior to the reveal of River City Girls, Arc System Works announced Downtown Rantou Koushinkyoku Mach!! – a new entry in the Kunio-kun series – for the Switch and multiple other platforms.
This title goes by the name River City Melee Mach!! here in the west and according to news within the latest issue of Weekly Famitsu, it will be released in Japan on 10th October for the price of 1,500 yen.
Although a western release has not yet been announced, the above-mentioned English title has appeared on the Korean Media Rating Board, with H2 Interactive listed as the publisher – the same publisher responsible for previous entries locally.
The game itself is said to be an enhanced version of River City Melee: Battle Royal Special and was first shown in a Japanese Nintendo Direct presentation earlier this year. It will include a team edit function, endless battle mode, dream all-star teams, and online play.
Would you be interested in seeing this released locally? Or are you more excited for River City Girls this September? Tell us below.

That first game looks very interesting with some pretty solid animation.
Also, as much as those NES character sprites are iconic to the RCR franchise, I'm much more interested in River City Girls purely because of the updated sprites. Have they made any mainstream RCR with that art style or is that just a Wayforward thing?
That is some slick animation.
Not my favorite kind of Kunio-kun subgenre, but as a Kunio-kun fan I'll have to grab it. I know in this case it won't have a retail version. Too bad 3DS entries got released digitally only in Europe, whereas Japan and the States got their retail versions. But there were 2 games, digital-only in Japan, that didn't even get a Western release, which hurts.
Anyway, as @DockEllisD said, keep 'em coming!
@Supaguy That first game is 'Forgotten Anne' it came out in the west last year and it is really good.
I already own it on PS4 thanks to Limited Run Games.
Most exciting thing about this article: A hat in time is coming soon! :3
I know that if they ever made a new version of the soccer games I would have to track down my childhood friends.
I'm a Kunio fan, so I'm interested. Though the straight fighting games are my bread and butter, I did like Crash N the Boys: Street Challenge and Super Dodgeball, so I'll at least give it a look.
YAY A HAT IN TIME IS STILL COMING
