PM Studios and acttil are teaming up with the developer VooFoo Studios to release a retail copy of the micro-racing game Mantis Burn Racing in North America, on 12th December. The price of the physical version has not been revealed.
Here's a bit about the game, along with the box art:
"Mantis Burn Racing®" is a high-speed, rough and tumble top-town racer which combines physics-based gameplay and a classic arcade racing style to throw you head-first into heart-pounding driving competition. Climb into 5 different vehicle classes and experience an incredible 11-season single-player career mode, featuring over 150 events pulled from over a dozen unique event types. You can also fine-tune your vehicles with a robust, RPG-style upgrade system, and compete in 4-player local splitscreen matches, or online against opponents on a variety of other platforms.
In our review here on Nintendo Life, we said Mantis Burn Racing was an excellent multiplayer racing experience and yet another must-have title for the Switch.
Will you be adding this one to your physical collection this December? Burn some rubber down below.

Top down racers don't belong in this century.
Terrible game that was very overrated here, I am a huge racing fan but this was awful. One of the few games I just had to delete from my console entirely.
Well despite what the others have said here, I enjoyed my time with this game on launch as my friend had recently introduced me to the fun of MASHED and Micro Machines when played in local co-op.
There were a few things that struck me as strange though (like split screen between 3 people dividing the screen vertically rather than into 4 screens like most games), so I sent the development team a polite message suggesting an option to change this and never heard back from them despite saying my message will be addressed within 2-10 days or something.
I think it's been roughly 2 years now...
This Mantis Burn was a game that I originally looked forward to greatly - as a fan of the original Micro Machines games all the way to V3. Then it came out... and it was sorely lacking in many areas. Very overrated on this website I believe.
@aznable I haven’t seen a new ‘great’ top down racer in the last... maybe.. 15 years.... but when I play the originals like Micro Machines 96 or even V3, they are still fantastic fun. They absolutely could have top down racers ‘this century’.. they just need to make them to be.... good. Mantis Burn is probably one of the better examples, compared with other current options, but it’s just not that good.
Anyone know how it compares to other topdown racers out there like say Blaze Rush?
Overrated game it’s just really boring and slow rock n roll racing this ain’t
Whyyyyyyyyyy???
I did not care for this at all. Love the subgenre tho. Hoping someone gives us one that's more my speed soon.
I was another one who deleted this from my console - got it partly cos it reminded me of Micro Machines and partly because of the probably too generous review from this website. Had fun for a couple of hours maybe but it gets boring pretty soon.
I already have a Japanese physical copy. I normally like to support PM Studios, but I'll have to skip this one.
@aznable why would you say that? I loved them as a teenager in the 90s, and enjoy them no less these days. There's room for every genre.
@Mr_Horizon I like The Dig pic btw. Anyway, if someone is putting the money and time into developing a solid 3d engine, particle effects etc, why make it top down? A lower to ground level perspective is far more involving, and dynamic.
I love top down racers, being an Amiga kid. But this game didn't hold my attention for long, it was overly difficult in parts and the car upgrade system was annoying. Maybe I should give it a 2nd chance.
Quite a few poor reviews from people here in the comments.... I nearly picked this up when on sale on the e-shop, I'm glad I didn't now..
Online was dead from the get go.
Thought I was the only 1. The game was just ok but it didn't keep my attention long. I tried out other seasons like the battle season where using weapons made things a bit more interesting. And the elite mode uses hover cars. If the hovers cars had better handling it may have made the game better for me.
I really enjoy this game! absolutely worth picking up on sale.
I hate this game. Not because its a bad game. I like the physics and the driving is fun. But the game feels just cheap in overall. To many loading times. Even if you have to restart a race. Boring car design. The campaign is also not that interesting. The tracks are not that bad. Only the upgrade system keeps you going. And thats a cheap mechanic which works like in mobile games. I only recommend this game if you want a top down racer with multiplayer.
I really enjoyed it. shrug. The Japanese physical release is actually really cheap on EBay.
