Nintendo has shared a list of the top 15 best-selling eShop games of June 2019 in Europe, unsurprisingly revealing that Cadence of Hyrule has dominated the scene during its first month on sale.
As is often the case, the list features a collection of Nintendo-published favourites and indie greats, combining to show off just how great the line-up on the eShop can be. If you're wondering why Super Mario Maker 2 only managed to grab second place, it's worth remembering that it only released on 28th June so didn't have nearly as much time on sale as other titles.
Without further ado, here's the full list. It's based on the number of Nintendo eShop downloads in European territories during the whole month:
1. Cadence of Hyrule: Crypt of the NecroDancer Featuring The Legend of Zelda
2. Super Mario Maker 2
3. Crypt of the NecroDancer
4. Hollow Knight
5. Cuphead
6. My Friend Pedro
7. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
8. Minecraft
9. Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled
10. Final Fantasy VII
11. Rocket League
12. Slay the Spire
13. Stardew Valley
14. Collection of Mana
15. Enter the Gungeon

Nice, I absolutely love Cadence of Hyrule
I'm surprised to see Collection of Mana so high. Both in terms of its high price point and its niche audience.
I'm waiting for a discount to buy Cadence of Hyrule. I like Crypt of the Necrodancer but I got tired of getting my butt handed to me and start all over again
@Rhaoulos me too, but I feel like this is going to take a while.
@Rhaoulos did u arrive at the final boss??? man o man... i wanted to finish before mario maker.. it's so freaking hard! lol
I didn't really care for crypt of the necrodancer but it was so cheap and allowed me to have a taste of what Cadence of Hyrule is like. I would encourage anyone to try out Cadence of Hyrule. I hated the style at first but it grew on me, the game is kind of like coffee or alcohol in that sense lol
@SNES64DD I would not call it niche. Secret if Mana was a pretty big deal during the snes area and Seiken Densetsu 3 was patched by fans into multiple languages. And for people who are old enough to remember this, the higher price point is less of an issue.
So Candice of hyrule actually beat Mario maker pre orders+ opening weekend!
I know probably most copies of SMM2 were physical, but this still super impressive for an Indie title, even one carrying the name “Zelda”, and the first game in coming 3rd place!
Do we have have a million copies indie right there? Will we here about more Nintendo IP indies soon?
No graveyard keeper? What is wrong with people! 😝 I have been having a great time planting bodies.
I urge you people once you’ve completed Cadence of Hyrule and think you’re good at the game try Crypt of the NecroDancer!! Old school rock hard nail biting awesomeness with a good sense of humour and tight controls! The game is freaking brilliant. And HARD
@SNES64DD
High? Its 14th place on a list where Mario Maker reached 2nd place in 3 days, that's actually pretty bad.
@rex_rex No, I didn't go far in the game. Lost the will to play after getting destroyed several time by the boss on the 5th floor of the first area.
@Rhaoulos Not saying you need to rush out and buy it instead of waiting for the discount, but Cadence is WAY more forgiving than the original Crypt. Just one example is that your weapons carry over. Buy a spear and like using it? Don't worry, even if you die it's still yours! I've come to enjoy the original Crypt, but I much preferred Cadence. Then again, I love Zelda so that was inevitable I guess.
I wish I knew how many people owned Rocket League on Switch. It's almost always in the top 20 and I know it has to have a massive number. I'm top 45 goal scorers on Switch and would like to know if that's out of 100,000 or 2 million.
I haven’t bought a Switch game in months, but I do own six of the games on this list.
@CairiB Glad to hear there's at least one more person that bought that game!It really isant getting the attention it deserves.I'm totally addicted to it!Good job im off work this week cuz sleep is in short supply lol
@Rhaoulos play more!! once you get the mechanics and you upgrade your char, you get better! trust me! the game is a blast! but the final boss... omg.. if you loose to him, you have to restart the whole level, beat a boss, face some challenges AND THEN fight him...
@tzahn Thanks for the info. I read a lot of good stuff on Cadence of Hyrule and as a Zelda fanatic, I am 100% sure to buy it eventually. It's just that I have a huge backlog on Switch and PS4, but I'll buy it even at full price if I run out of games on the Switch.
@rex_rex Don't worry, I'll try again in the future. It's just that I wasn't in a try hard mood and wanted a more relaxed game, so I skipped to the next game on my Switch backlog: My time at Portia
@Wazeddie22 I actually preordered it and then spent the 26th periodically checking to see when it was playable haha!
I am really enjoying it, I hope they add dlc at some point too, I can see them being able to do a lot with it.
@SNES64DD I'm actually disappointed it's not higher, I want people to support it. I want square enix to take more chances on stuff like this getting brought over, there is still quite a few games I'd love to have on my switch from them.
Mario Maker 2 being the in the 2 slot this soon is very impressive
@SNES64DD i love the first two games. I'm just not paying $40 for them when Konami has more games at a cheaper price. SquareEnix wants it's money. I still have physical copies and boxes of both from the 90s when adventure itself was $40. Twas like Zelda on the go!
And people wonder why SONY does not consider the Switch direct competition 🙄
it is like Night and Day.
Hollow Knight is still so high considering how long it has been available. Great game, I got used to it but I still couldn't finish it. The final bosses are way too hard for me... Maybe I'll try again later...
@Sandro89 pre-purchases count for the entire month of June for Mario Maker 2.
I find it interesting MK8 Deluxe was able to bear CTR, I mean people are right to pick it over CTR, just you’d think being new(er) versus 2+ years on the eshop would give an advantage of sorts.
@Sandro89 When you consider the price of the game and how old the Collection is (SNES era games that have been out for over a year in Japan), the fact that it made it on this list is pretty amazing.
@dougphisig Ha! Ha! I actually can agree with you there but am happy that it made it on the Top 20 list. The Mana series was legendary in the hayday but they dropped the ball when PlayStation came around and hasn't reached the heights of the third game ever since.
That said, I was always more of a Star Ocean fan myself but the fifth mainline game has also dropped the ball after a sloppy third and fourth. It really sucks because Enix was always my preference when compared to Square.
Now I am personally more an Atlus fan in terms of jRPGs then either.
@tech7 Well for today's game standards it is niche. Most reaction videos that I've watched were of people that were like "Who? More DragonQuest?" or "Oh its Secret of Mana? Or a new game?"
Kind of sad that no one recognised Duran, Angela and the Fullmetal Hugger boss.
