Can you believe it's July already? Where is the time going? E3 is now but a distant memory, but there is lots to look forward on Switch this year. Anyway, another month means more lovely stuff to buy, which is presumably why you clicked this link.
June saw the release of the lovely Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled and the delightful Super Mario Maker 2... but what's next for Switch, you may be wondering as your hard-earned money burns a hole in your pocket. We've helpfully compiled a list of all the good stuff coming out at retail in July and August, so feast your eyes and get all those pennies together – you're going to need them!

Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order - 19th July
Avengers: Endgame may have come and gone, but Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order is something to keep Marvel fans occupied until the next MCU film comes along (although considering the frequency of the films, there's probably a couple scheduled for release before 19th July anyway). The sequel to - you guessed it - Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2, this is a Nintendo-published exclusive and we're jazzed to see the action roleplaying series come to Switch courtesy of Team Ninja.
Wolfenstein: Youngblood - 26th July
Seeing Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus on Switch was a wonderful surprise, so we're excited to see this spin-off/side-story coming to the console at the end of the month. You take on the role of one of B.J. Blazkowicz's daughters in this new story that sees them heading to Paris, the City of Light, in search of their old man. It's set in the 1980s and is shaping up to be one hell of a ride.
You can choose between the standard or deluxe versions, with the latter including a Buddy Pass and the Cyborg Skin Pack. Tinkety-tonk old fruit, and down with the Nazis.
Fire Emblem: Three Houses - 26th July
After the hack and slash antics of musou crossover Fire Emblem Warriors, it's once again time to strap on your SRPG thinking cap and get ready for Fire Emblem: Three Houses. Channelling a little bit of Harry Potter and a little bit of Game of Thrones, Three Houses sees you join a school as a teacher to instruct students of one of three noble houses from the kingdom of Fódlan. With the turn-based tactics that the series is famous for, plus a peppering of new systems and surprises, this one is looking to be an essential purchase whether you're a fan of permadeath or not.
Astral Chain - 30th August
The end of August brings us a brand new action game from PlatinumGames in the shape of Astral Chain. As part of a police special task force, it’s up to you to fight against mysterious, alien-like creatures who have invaded the world.
In the Ark, a multi-cultural city in the near future, disaster strikes when gates to another dimension suddenly appear! Dangerous creatures begin to emerge, attacking the people and polluting the land, and normal police forces are unable to compete with them. To stand up against these threats, a brand new, special police unit known as Neuron is formed. You won't want to miss this one.
More Awesome Nintendo Switch Games
Aside from the highlighted games above, there are lots more Switch retail games which might take your fancy in July and beyond.
Awesome Accessories For Your Switch
We saw a whole slew of interesting accessories released for the Switch in the past few months, but more are on the way. Here are some tantalising accessories coming up in July and beyond, which we found for your consideration.
So that's it for July and August - did we miss anything? Let us know with a comment and also tell us if you've pre-ordered any of these goodies!

That's got to be a typo on Fire Emblem: Three Houses right? It can't be 79.99 pounds and only $59.99(U.S). If it isn't a typo your getting screwed in Europe.
Already pre-ordered Fire Emblem a few weeks ago. Legend of Zelda Link's Awakening is a "for sure" buy. I already own the digital release of Cities Skylines. Lots of maybes on the list too.
I'm pretty much done buying games until Links Awakening. Though I do hope to eventually get ultimate alliance
@nintendolife You dont have Sparklite in the above list.
Only want Collection of Mana, Spiro, above mentioned Sparklite and Link's Awakening.
Seriously, what's up with all these Retail Games from play it?
Aren't they aware it's possible to sell a Download Code Card in Stores without putting it in a Case? Looks like we're back in the good old year of 2007 where each Wii Point Card was inside a regular Game Case. What a waste.
Have Zelda, Fire Emblem, Collection of Mana, Ni No Kuni and both Dragon Quest games preordered. Also have all of the Pokémon amiibos preordered too. Might also get the Harvest Moon game too.
@Nagi_Nagisa Amazing. I’ve never heard that before. Was it only in Japan?
@Nagi_Nagisa
It's stranger since Super Putty Squad already had a European physical release on game card in case.
Have Marvel UA3, Fire Emblem, Daemon ex Machina, Luigi's Mansion 3, and Pokemon preordered for Switch.
Have Wolfenstein preordered for Xbox One.
Buying Mana digitally as soon as there's any kind of discount.
My armpits started crying as soon as I clicked the article. Soon after, I called the ambulance on my wallet. Now we live under the cover of darkness as we get through these next few utterly glorious months.
I thought I was clearing my backlog but the release of Astral chain, Fire Emblem, Link's awakening, Rune Factory 4 Special won't help
A lot to aim for, but the need to balance the vacation bonus until late September compels to be selective. I may not even get Astral Chain at launch unless I manage to splurge out on a voucher after all. Yu-gi-oh is a somewhat more probable launch period purchase, but for now I'm waiting for Grid Autosport's price and date.
I'm unreasonably excited for Fire Emblem: Three Houses. I've been wanting a new console Fire Emblem game so quite a while now, and this one looks magnificent.
Pre-ordering Fire Emblem & Astral Chain through Nintendo vouchers and using the reedem points for blazing chrome. Getting Link's awakening on physical and then I'll try to commit myself in finishing this endless backlog before I qualify as a hoarder.
Red Faction Guerrilla for me, after a discount.
The game's immense fun but it was free on Steam if you had the original version (which I did, and also for Xbox 360).
The sooner they take this mentality from them, the better.
It's a joke that we have to pay for the same game over and over again.
Oh, and the Spyro Trilogy later.
I've never played the PS1 games, only some PS2 ones so those will be new.
And hopefully worth waiting for half a year, not buying them on other consoles, knowing it's gonna turn up on Switch eventually, just like the Crash Trilogy did.
I have taken off July 26th and the week after . Fire emblem 3 houses here I come !
Another great month
Thumbs up for mentioning my most anticipted shmup releases, Caladrius Blaze and Arcade Love: Plus Pengo!!
For july, pre ordered fire emblem. Will most likely get marvel ultimate alliance too.
I have a lot of rpg still to play on my backlog, so I'm only going for sims city for now, eventually I'll get zelda, dragon quests and fire emblem
Personally for me, the ones I want are Enter the Gungeon, Guacamelee 1-2 Punch Collection, Collection of Mana, Dragon Quest XI, and maybe Spyro Collection is it's all on the game card without requiring additional downloads.
The first three are already all pre-ordered, the latter I'm waiting a bit.
Also looking at pre-ordering Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair, and Bee Simulator. Have Terraria on pre-order too, and of course Link's Awakening Limited Edition, that's the big one.
for me July is MUA 3 & Fire Emblem while I keep going back and forth on Yu-gi-oh if it was $20 like legacy of the duelist was I'd bought it already but I'm not sure $40 is worth it. Will probably get it but still deciding. Those would be only July/Aug games, Link's Awakening, Luigi Mansion 3 & Pokémon Shield make up the rest of my games for the year
In the next couple of months, I’ll get Dragon Quest Builders 2, Fire Emblem and maybe (depending on reviews and on the price of importing a physical copy) Oninaki, so the rest of the summer won’t be too hard on my wallet. It’s autumn that’s going to break the bank, with Link’s Awakening, Ni No Kuni, Luigi’s Mansion 3, Rune Factory 4S, Doraemon’s Story of Seasons, Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair and Pokemon Sword. 😭
God Eater 3, Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3, Fire Emblem: Three Houses, Astral Chain, Link's Awakening, Ni No Kuni, and Dragon Quest XI for me.
September is going to be an expensive month for me!
Fire Emblem Three Houses is the only game i am getting in July and Astral Chain in August
Honestly, I am super pumped for this month. I love the monster hunter franchise but couldn't get over how annoying the lack of quality of life improvements that world had that the old ones didn't. So God Eater is a welcome addition for my wife and I to play, since I have been itching for a new monster hunter experience. In addition, Dragon Quest Builders is coming out so I am super pumped to try that with her too!
As a 23 year old I actually asked my father to buy me Marvel Ultimate Alliance. I never asked for anything (even as a kid) so he actually was excited to see me ask. Overall, great month for nintendo switch and my preorders are stacking up. Super excited!
Not interested in Star Wars Pinball . . . but very much interested to see Disney creating Star Wars games for the Switch. WE NEED A NEW POD RACER!!! MAKE IT HAPPEN!!! PLEEEEEEAZE!
Does NL get commision when we click on those Amazon links? The Fire Emblem LE is £20 cheaper literally everywhere else...
My bank account is weeping. I'm so, so sorry...I promised I would save...but...but...games!
Dragon quest builders 2
Fire emblem
Marvel
Mutant zero
Links awakening
Dragon quest
The ones I will get, will wait on reviews of astral chain, looks good but always thought platinum are a bit overrated. Will be getting Ni No Kuni: but will get it for the ps4.
Amazing how Nintendo can release nothing I want (except for Smash) for over a year, but then has to release MUA3, DQ Builders 2, and Fire Emblem this month, with Astral Chain next month. So much coming, finally!
Just replayed the DQ Builders 2 demo (in English this time), and remembered how much I love the first one. Can’t wait for July 12th. I have way too many games on this list preordered already, thinking of canceling Caladrius to give my wallet a break.
Pretty sure ai the somnium files comes out in September not July (was delayed)
I had zero idea a Black Sad game was in the works ... did that game have ANY marketing sofar? Oo
Anyways, hard to believe we are less than 4 weeks away from FE Three Houses! Pretty excited to see how this turned out, even though I'm still a fair bit sceptical. I had hoped for something more along the lines of PoR, but this seems to lean even more into the whole fanservice aspect of FE Awakening. Maybe it'll have a real Persona vibe though ..
Also, I can recommend Mutant Year Zero! Pretty good game, played it over christmas. I wonder if this will include the Addon-DLC that is due by the end of month. I'll get that on Steam to continue my save file, but it would be interesting to know about the Switch version.
They better give free battles in Fire Emblem. That's the only reason why I don't like to play it. It's limited with level up. forced to play a certain way instead giving grinding mode to the lovers to level up. Well it's what it is
What a ridiculously unbalanced year 2019 has been so far. Astral, FE3H, MUA3 all within a few months of each other?
As a fan of Uchikoshi, I'm personally super excited about AI: The Somnium Files although I'm confident that was delayed for a few months so the listing here is wrong. Works out well for me!
Well I ordered Red Faction, Ultimate Alliance 3 and Toejam and Earl back in the groove (physical) today. That might be it for July.
August will be Enter the Gungeon, Guacamelee, and Astral Chain.
September is Spyro and Zelda.
What exactly is Super Putty Squad doing on the list, it says it's just a digital code so is just that the download code will be sold at retail stores?
Insane couple of months. For me, Marvel, FE, Astral Chain, Red Faction, God Eater, Mutant Year Zero, Youngblood, Gucamelee and Mana Collection are all must buys. Whew, my poor wallet.
DQ Builders 2 is a maybe. I haven't played a 'building' game before and my first DQ game wil be XI S.
I'll only get Wolfenstein Youngblood this month, and then, I'll wait until Link's Awakening.
So many great games. Already preordered these (and more, but these are the ones I'm most excited for)
Dragon Quest Builders 2
God Eater 3
Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3
Fire Emblem
Astral Chain
Daemon X Machina
Dragon Quest XI S
Zelda Link's Awakening
Ni No Kuni 2
Oninaki
Wolfenstein Youngblood
Mana Collection
Spyro Trilogy
Contra
I've pre-ordered both Collection of Mana and the Link's Awakening art book bundle. I'm also seriously considering grabbing Astral Chain earlier than intended.... MUST. RESIST!
"More Awesome Nintendo Switch Games!" "Bubsy."
Why doooo I even come to this site? lol
Love how Bubsy is listed right after "more awesome switch games".
Anyway this is what I've been waiting for, July is going to be an absolutely PACKED month for me with MUA3 and Three Houses releasing on the same month. Sadly I don't get paid until the end of the month, but I know what I'm getting for sure. Astral Chain, Link's Awakening, and Dragon Quest are also must-buys for me once they arrive.
Mana Collection, CV Collection, Contra Collection, and now Bloodstained are draining my wallet at a frightening rate. Now I've got Super Mario Maker 2 and Judgment (PS4) tempting me.
EDIT: @Dang69
Haha you beat me to it.
It is hard to decide if I want to play Dragon Quest Builders 2 on The Switch or PS4. The Switch might be the better choice for me. Building on the go? Hard to pass that up.
Fire Emblem Three Houses for July and Astral Chain for August though Astral Chain is where the complete chaos begins.
1. Marvel ill wait for it to be $19 (like Spiderman)
2. YoungBlood I have it pre-order on PC (Wolfenstein =k&m, 2K@60fps)
3. Astral Chains and Fire Emblem are Day1 (cant wait)
4. Played Mutant Year Zero for $1 with PC Game Pass,.. canceled that on Switch.(good game)
I have pre-order for CONTROL and Borderlands 3 in September... Already finished Dragon Quest XI last year. Maybe link, wait and see.
Wow! What a great lineup for July and August!! Am gonna need at least $500 dollars for these two months.
1.Astral Chain
2.Daemon X Machina
3.Zelda Links Awakening (Dreamer Edition)
4.Mutant Zero
5.Fire Emblem
6.Spyro Trilogy
7.Contra
...Man...Take my money already....X
I have Fire Emblem: Three Houses pre-ordered already. I'll probably get Astral Chain and Link's Awakening when they hit stores as well. I might get the Spryo Trilogy too... good lineup of games.
July is trying to steal my life away with MUA3 and Fire Emblem; then just when I think I might get a breather August hits with Astral Chains. Nintendo have a great run of exclusives coming.
Only thing this month I’ll be getting is Fire Emblem!!! I was planning on getting DQB2 and I’ve been really hyped about it for some time but after the demo, I have no interest anymore, especially at the price. If it goes on sale I will definitely get it but until then I have plenty of other games. Mario maker will hold me over until fire emblem, then hopefully I’ve beaten and gotten a good amount of playtime done for both for August and September’s drop of games. Astral chains, oninaki, Daemon X Machina, Links awakening... we can’t forget the two DLC characters for smash coming as well... my oh my!
marvel ultimate alliance 3, Friday the 13th, link's awakening.
maybe contra?
I forgot star wars pinball too
Just a whole bunch of game I dont need to get because I dont have time to play them all. I legit want like 8 to 10 of those games listed but only have the time to play maybe 3 to 4.
