Well, that was unexpected. Nintendo's latest smartphone game Dr. Mario World has launched a day earlier than planned.
That's right, if you have a compatible Android or iOS device, you should be able to hop on to your download store and install the game as we speak. Over the last few hours it's been rolling out to various countries including the UK, US and Japan, first hitting iOS, and eventually arriving on Android. If it isn't available in your territory just yet, keep checking back as we imagine it won't be long until it appears.
We'll be thoroughly testing the game ourselves here at Nintendo Life, so make sure to keep an eye out for our findings over the next few days.
As a side note, remember that the game is only launching for specific mobile platforms in some countries.
Will you be giving it a go? Have you already started playing? What do you think? Reveal all in the comments below.

l played it right away and l already like it!
Just want I always wanted P2W garbage with the nintendo name.
I will give it a try. I think it’s a good idea, especially with the different drs.
Why the hell does a game like this even have in-app purchases?
Charge $10 and be done with it!
Oh, right, but that's too expensive, just as Super Mario Run was "overpriced". It seems the damned idiots would rather spend that $10 on in-app purchases instead.
My brain hurts.
@TenguKing And yet you clicked and typed.
@Silly_G If only it was just $10, but no, people think $10 for a full, complete, quality Mario game is somehow too expensive but are happy spending hundreds on the gacha garbage that is pretty much all their other phone games so far. I honestly can't blame Nintendo here, they gave it an honest shot and were smacked down pretty hard by their fans in the mobile market
Those who are complaining about the microtransactions already obviously haven't played FEH, Dragalia Lost or...any of the Pokémon Mobile games, including Shuffle and Rumble Blast. Any F2P game even remotely associated with Nintendo so far has proven to be extremely fun even for people like me who don't spend a cent. I'm willing to bet this game will be the same.
So far so good! I haven't found any reason to use IAPs yet, and so far the difficulty is pretty good!
Beneath the microtransactions, there's a good game here. Give me a $20 option to eliminate those to play it as a proper game and I would gladly pay it.
I'll likely download it within the next few days just to try it out, but I'm in no rush.
@EmmatheBest
My friend to be honest Pokémon shuffle was a blast, but if you wanted to play for more than 15 minutes you gotta pay. That's the purpose of f2p games...
The game itself could be fun, but I was majorly dissapointed. I just want some classic Dr Mario instantly!
I don't play games on mobile phone. However, that crowd made their bed so transaction the crap out of them. They obviously love that model. Just keep micro transactions away from the Switch.
I posted about this on the forums, but when the news gatherers woke up from their afternoon nap and realised they were late with news, again, they deleted it
@norwichred Nobody deleted it. It's still there.
Just tried it, played two levels. It's worth a play if I'm bored. And it's free. Soooo... no real complaints here.
That explains why. I’ve never pre downloaded a game and thought the icon came on my phone ready to be downloaded tomorrow
It needs an always on internet connection, so I can’t play on the train...
I know what I'm playing on the toilet later.
Looks boring. Candy Crush with pills. I’ll pass.
Brazil is out =/
Not bad. I'm past magical level 20 (which is the last of the "tutorial" levels and unlocks the first "world"). It's not bad. Definitely a different take on the Dr. Mario formula.
gameexplain looked at this. Uninstalled right after I watched the video. What a piece of crappy microtranshell.
Just played about 20 mins of it and probably won't play again. I play puyo puyo a lot so I was hoping to enjoy this but it just made me want to open up the nes app and play Dr. Mario on that.
Played it for about half hour. It’s great and it’s free. I need to find something negative to say. It’s free
I have played it a little it is fun. Can we get a real Dr Mario on the Switch.
@ThomasS I haven’t spent a penny on Pokemon go/quest or fortnite. Are they free to play
@ThomasS it all depends on the person how they wanna spend their money really. I had a smartphone since they first come out and have gone through many free to play games that you don’t need to spend any money. They are quick timepass games. I did buy super Mario run day 1 which cost money and I can guarantee you that this will be much more successful than that.
@ThomasS I’m not defending Nintendo. I just think it makes more sense for these types of games to be on smartphones than on dedicated gaming platforms
@PikPi don't blame the consumers. Blame Nintendo for doing exactly what other companies do. Dlc, not full games on release, paid online, gotcha mechanics. Lootboxes coming to a Nintendo near you. But of course people will defend them after years of crucifying ea saying it's just a business and they had to follow the pack. Yea that makes sense.
@Mycroft true. If Nintendo was solely owned instead of having investors they would treat their customers right. In fact I think those Nintendo guys truly want to be my best friend. You guys are crazy. Nintendo is a company. A company I love. But still a company out to make money. Don't hurt yourselves twisting things to justify this nonsense.
@Silly_G the only reason I didn’t buy Mario run was the fact it required internet access- pointless for kids on car journeys.
Oh microtransaction on a mobile game? C'mon don't tell me you guys didn't expect this.
Damn, lots of freeloaders in the comment section. Get a job so you can afford to pay $10 freakin bucks for a video game
It's good so far, though after 20 levels the standard free-to-play features start to kick in with limited hearts and consumable items. I won't be sinking any money into this so we'll see how far it lets me go.
Oh c***! My phone is so unreliable, WHY DIDN'T IT TELL ME! I PRE-REGISTERED!
Played 25 levels so it can’t be bad. It just isn’t Dr Mario. It’s Candy Crush in Nintendo clothes, with the same free-to-play mechanics that you can take or easily leave.
Everyone complaining about the f2p instead of 10$ just remember the gameisnot for you but for mobile gamers. Paid games don't sell on mobiles... For more part I did not even tried any of Nintendo's mobile games (edit: I played Pokémon go for a couple of days but who haven't and really not Nintendo)
There has been a datamine leak revealing even more Doctors being added to the game. Some available and others maybe at a later date. https://gonintendo.com/stories/339594-dr-mario-world-datamined-new-doctor-characters-found
This may be a shock to some folks.... You don’t have to pay anything if you don’t want to.
....I tried, uninstalled it half-way through World 1....oh well.
No thanks. While I understand Nintendos foray into the world of mobile gaming and microtransactions, I don't personally like it nor wish to support it.
I just want to buy a full new Dr. Mario on Switch.
Micro transactions work because people are willing to pay. People will pay full price for old ports.
This is a solid mobile game. You don't have to pay anything to get through the game just fine. Nintendo's hands are tied. Some people do not want to drop $10 on a mobile game while others will get irritated at microtransactions.
The only complaint I have is the initial screen takes a while to load. I can't figure that one out, but if that is as bad as it gets, I think this has a great future.
Played it, got bored after 10 levels, deleted it
I can't seem to link up my LINE and FB yet?
Also lol I have unlimited energy somehow.
Is this like cause it's some sorta soft launch?
Its a pretty good game!
So far this feels more like a typical freemium candy crush game with a Nintendo skin than an actual Nintendo game.
Not my kind of game.
I actually have been enjoying it quite a bit.
