With Nintendo's World Championship Tournaments done and dusted, the focus is now on the big Direct presentation for E3 2019. In case you're wondering what to expect, the company's social media accounts have issued an update.
It'll apparently be around 40 minutes and will discuss the Switch games releasing this year. Here's the official word:
Masahiro Sakurai has also revealed we can expect to find out more about the "next DLC fighter" for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate during this year's E3 2019 Nintendo Direct.

You hear that? Sounds like.... some kind of train.....
A HYPE TRAIN
Well hope they just keep with 30 second headlines , and leave the gameplay stuff for the treehouse so that we get a lot of game announcements.
What do we want?
Animal Crossing!!!!
When do we want it?
Now!!! O_O
Keeping my expectations low.
I was going to put a hype train picture up but idk how. oh well
HYPE TRAIN!!
@Kaizoku May your Animal Crossing game be gloriously adorable
Nintendo fans get hyped the most, to be let down the most lol
I'm mostly curious to see if Reggie makes a cameo. I know he doesn't work there anymore but it would be nice to see him literally hand over a mic to Bowser.
Right now I'm just expecting to see what sets apart LOZLA remake from the original, Astral Chain and LM3 details, the gameplay reveal for AC, some third party stuff and maybe some more SMM2 details.
From a purely selfish viewpoint, i hope Animal Crossing doesn't take too much time up as i've no interest in that, Luigi's Mansion 3 on the other hand, i cannot wait to see more of !
Really though, Pikmin 4 is the thing i want to see more than anything, the wait is agonising, being a fan of Pikmin is not easy lol
Not really expecting anything besides more info on already-announced games. Just gonna enjoy the ride myself.
Gimme Prime Trilogy : )
and about 2 minutes of that will be Animal Crossing... :/
Don't think Banjo for smash is gonna be a thing now: (
I also need to know about a Pikmin 4 release. Some kind of rerelease of the previous games would be sufficient though, even as download only.
Am I missing something or did NLife NOT cover the World Championships? Any reason for that?
Either way I can't wait for the Direct! Gonna be great!
Animal Crossing!
Microsoft's was an hour and a half. Wish Nintendo's was that long.
Really I just want the new Smash fighter and SNES games on Switch, and we already know the Smash fighter is getting revealed.
Misread as will start in 40 minutes
The 2019 part bothers me the most...surely we'll get some kinda glimpse into 2020.
The thing about this year is that they could announce literally nothing new, and so long as every 2019 title is on schedule I’d say it was a terrific direct!
But also please give us Spyro
Probably going to start with a 2020 game like how last year started with Machina lol
That’s fairly typical for an E3 Direct. Let’s just hope they don’t use 20+ minutes of it to focus on a single game like they did with Smash last year.
My main thing are release dates. If the Direct was 1 minute long and just text saying:
"Animal Crossing Switch - November 26, 2019"
"Luigi's Mansion 3 - October 31 2019"
I would be okay. Everything else is a welcome bonus.
@Kaizoku what you mean by "we"
Well I'm hoping to hear about a pro model especially after hearing both Sony and xbox new systems will do 8k 120fps. How will anything port or is my nintendo now just a first party and indie machine.
Nintendo has a ton of exciting stuff to release this year. No excuse for them to not have a great show.
I hope I’m wrong. I get the feeling Microsoft’s press conference set the tone for this years E3. 😞
I'm already really happy with the lineup for the rest of this year (except when I look at my bank balance) so I'll enjoy whatever they show.
@sixrings "First party and indie machine" sounds like a perfect system to me so I'm okay with that.
@sixrings 8K is for video playback, LOL. Most games will likely be targeting 4K30fps on those platforms.
And the sort of games that'll be skipping Switch next-gen are the same sort of games skipping it currently (AAA third party games). We'll still get middle-tier releases, exclusives, and indies.
@Ralizah you do realize people miss those triple a games. Call of duty. Ea sports games. Battlefield. Tomb raider. Red dead. Gta.
@BenAV I wish I had the same indifference.
@sixrings Then get a machine that plays those games. Switch is doing fine without them, and there's no reason to think that'll change come next gen.
@Ralizah I got another system. It would be nice to live in a world where I didn't need to have two devices.
@sixrings "Nintendo Direct: The presentation will begin at 9 a.m. PT on June 11. Viewers can watch it by visiting https://e3.nintendo.com/. The presentation, which focuses entirely on software, will offer a look at games scheduled to launch in 2019."
That'll give me some time to actually EAT lunch. XD I decided I'd come in to work early and therefore take lunch early.
@sixrings I doubt anyone with a Switch is really missing those games. Chances are if those games are that important to them, they either have a Switch and one of the other consoles or they're strictly gaming on PS or Xbox. At this point, you kind of know what your expecting.
@sixrings Nah. I really like the hybrid functionality of the Switch, despite the obvious restrictions that imposes on what the system can run. We don't need three power consoles on the market.
@Dev893 I don't expect them to show it at E3, but I'm thinking we'll hear about a Splatoon 3 before the year is out. They're not going to just cut support for their cashcow and leave it at that.
So here’s hoping Rune Factory 4 news/release info is mentioned in the direct since Japan gets it next month. I’d say though that leaves news on 5 until later in the year or at the new year’s first direct... Anywho, I want RF4, more Pokémon info, Oninaki, maybe ports of the Bravely series or a new entry for Switch, Yo-kai Watch 4 localization news and perhaps a new Zelda title (not just Link’s Awakening) and Animal Crossing of course
@Toadie What is your biggest hope for LM3? What side are you on in the Dark Moon debate (is it good or not)?
@sixrings I just feel that most of those big budget 'AAA' titles end up being underwhelming anyway and that most of the creative and interesting titles these days come from indie devs. In a perfect world we'd get everything but it's not like I have the time and money to play every game anyway so I'm content with sacrificing the games that I don't really care about.
40 minutes, huh? About the typical length for a "major" Direct, I guess. Even if it's focusing only on 2019 titles though, that frankly isn't much time, especially to devote to any one, single game (cough, cough, Smash Bros. at E3 2018, cough...), so I DEFINITELY hope Nintendo doesn't make the same mistake they did last year. Smash is a great game, but to me it's overrated in terms of pick-up-and-play accessibility, especially for local play against family and friends. It certainly wasn't nearly enough by itself to carry Nintendo's whole E3 Direct last year, let alone the bulk of the latter half of 2018.
We have Fire Emblem, Zelda: Link's Awakening, Pokémon, Animal Crossing, and Luigi's Mansion 3 already announced and will likely see them during the Direct, and I'm sure all of those will be great and have a lot of fans (I'm particularly stoked for Zelda, Fire Emblem, and Animal Crossing myself).
But so far there's not really a showstopper/system mover in the vein of a Mario or Zelda variety (as much as I love 2D Zelda and am anxious for Link's Awakening, it'll likely never be nearly as universally popular as the 3D Zeldas or BotW), and we've already been told that Metroid Prime 4 isn't coming this year. I would hope for at least one major new announcement, though, and with the Splatoon Splatfests nearing their end there will likely be room opening up for the next big multiplayer-centric first-party IP for the Christmas season. It could be a good time to look out for Mario Kart 9/Nintendo Kart; it's probably the safest bet out of all Nintendo's IPs to be their "big" Winter 2019 game.
@ShikabaneHime13 You'd think it wouldn't take too long to localise Rune Factory 4 considering they'd only need to translate the new content added to the Switch version.
39 minutes going to the new DLC char in Smash Bros
1 min to new Animal Crossing
@AtlanteanMan You don't think Pokemon is a 'system mover'? I think the game looks average at best but it's still going to sell like crazy. Pokemon has always been the biggest system seller for Nintendo's handhelds.
Nice, it will be done a bit before lunch.
@BlueRobin04 I adored Dark Moon personally, though i totally get why some people prefer LM 1, for me, 3 could go either way and follow on from either styles and i'll still love it, but maybe it should have elements of both ? So is more structured like DM to begin with but dramatically opens up later on ? that sounds good to me.
What i would really love is for Waluigi to be the main enemy this time, working alongside King Boo, it's the perfect opportunity for him to shine, and would bring a new dynamic to the series.
I expect another full 360 again from Animal Crossing Switch.
Zelda BOTW and Pokemon Sword / Shield got the same full 360 camera angle.
@Luna_110 It'll be done a bit before 3am for me and I've gotta get up at around 7:30... Work is going to suck on Wednesday but worth it.
I am hoping for a sequel for Mario & Rabbids but I also hope they'll show PSO 2 but I know I'm going to get flamed for it too but it's just that it's going to be on Xbox One and Windows 10. I don't know what to do. So I am hoping for good reveals this year.
@frogopus I was thinking Splatoon 3, especially since this next Splatfest is the last one.
@TeslaChippie Do you think Splatoon 3 would come out this year, though?
@tillyboo Why?
I have my doubts about Animal Crossing. No mention of a single thing. No gameplay....nothing. If Animal Crossing is a big focus, they are gonna need about 10-15 minutes of the Direct to really show people what it's all about. Then, to have it launch a few months after it's revealed is gutsy. I dunno...either Nintendo is done the game and held it back for a long time, or it's not gonna be there at all.
@Nintendofan83 Hmm. Anything's possible, but I'm guessing not. I bet Link's Awakening is September, Luigi's Mansion is October, Pokemon is November, Animal Crossing is December. I don't think they'd double up in any of those key months.
Personally...I'm not expecting any big surprises. Just hard details on games we already know about. I'm guessing a big eShop game reel and then something "available now!" - last year it was Fortnite and so I'm sure they want something out after the Direct.
Personally - I'd love a surprise reveal of Mario Golf. I loved the 3DS game and would really like a game on Switch. That would be awesome if they announced it and then released it in the fall. They did the same with Super Mario Party. Announced it in June and it released in October.
I honestly think Nintendo will be thinking about next E3, they know it'll be big for both MS and Sony, with full blowout news on their new consoles, i reckon to combat that they will save their 'big guns' like a new Mario, Zelda, Splatoon, Mario Kart, along with Prime 4 and Bayonetta 3 for next year to not get lost in the noise and excitement.
With that in mind, this year is perfect to announce more second-tier games like Pikmin 4 or a new Paper Mario to supplement the already announced games. I think we're due some more Wii U ports too, Project Zero would be quite welcome for me.
@TeslaChippie That would be an absolute stellar line up for the fall/Xmas season if that's the case. I could see announcements in 2020 for sequels for early Switch games like Super Mario Odyssey 2, BOTW 2, Splatoon 3, Mario Kart 9 etc. Nintendo has said they view the Switch as a 6-10 year life cycle system so I think all of their big hitters get a second release on Switch.
@Toadie I don't want to live in a world where Pikmin is considered a second-tier game.
@Toadie Great point. This is a quite E3 and Nintendo doesn't have to do a lot to win. They have a lot of 3rd party games and first party games coming out in the next few months. Show release dates, make a few announcements and keep it simple.
2020 is the big year to show the Switch can still be viable in the face of the PS5 and Xbox 2 (or whatever it gets called)
@TeslaChippie haha i certainly don't mean in terms of quality, Pikmin is one of Nintendo's absolute best franchises as far as i am concerned, but sadly there's no denying that it is niche, it just doesn't seem to appeal to a wide audience. I would love to see it sells millions and millions. maybe a switch version would, who knows ?
Well, it'll be better than Bethesda's a̶g̶e̶n̶d̶a̶ conference, the way they're hawking mobile games.
I have as always, zero expectations.
"If you expect something, expect to be disappointed."
I'm curious about what I am hearing, was Microsoft's show sucky this year?
@AtlanteanMan I would be absolutely shocked if Mario Kart 9 was announced at E3 this year. MK8 is still selling very well and most people buy it when they pick up a system. In fact it's the highest selling game on the system at nearly 16 million (vgchartz).
In a friendly, positive, polite way.....I 100% disagree with you. Pokemon is a system seller and if Pokemon Let's Go can crack 10 million sales on the Switch, the new mainline games will also sell 10 million or more. This game will appeal to kids and adults. A mainline Pokemon game on a popular home console is going to be a system seller.
Sounds very short, I don't expect much. But I'll wait and see, maybe I am proven wrong.
I'm expecting AC, a new DK, and at least a screenshot of Metroid Prime 4.
Tuesday can't come quick enough. One day down with watching most of Microsoft ( meh, not bad), all of bethesda (yawn), and devolver digital( short and sweet), tomorrow will be all square for me and Tuesday is without a doubt, the main course. Show me some links awakening with more info. Show me some astral chain. Give me the surprise 2019 and 2020 game announcements. I bought a 1 way ticket to nintendoland and hopped on board the hype train. Eating my hype and cheese sammich with potato chypes 😃. Simply can't wait to see what's up Tuesday
@AtlanteanMan
Pokemon Sword/Shield and Animal Crossing are most definitely "system movers."
And unless Metroid Prime 4 is a showstopping Game of the Year candidate, it is most definitely not much of a "system mover."
Still hoping for some more Super Mario Party game-boards, they really dropped the ball on the last year with no Halloween or Christmas content.
I wouldn't expect too many new 1st party Nintendo announcements at this Direct - those will probably be saved for the inevitable September 2019/February 2020 Directs.
Every 1st party game released in 2019 was not announced at E3 2018, and I expect the same thing to apply for future 2020 games.
I just want to see more footage and hear more details about Luigi's Mansion 3. Seeing any sort of Mario rpg would be cool, as I'm a big fan of both Paper Mario and Mario and Luigi, but I'm not holding out for either of them being shown.
For anyone reading into this. This is literally the same length and "focus" as it is every year. The good and bad E3s aren't determined by length of show. If you think they are you don't remember how long the truly contentless shows have sometimes run for. Or how compact some of the best ones have been
Could be good... depends on what they choose to focus on and for how long.
I know I am hyping myself up for no reason but i am hoping for
1. Dark Souls 2
2. A fallout game of any kind
3. 2d metroid with new amibos
4. A new castlevania game
5. Solaire as a new character in smash
6. A totally new ip
7. F-zero
@westman98, Nintendofan83, etc.,
Perhaps "system mover" was the wrong term for me to have used in my earlier post. As you said, Pokémon and Animal Crossing in particular both have huge and devoted followings. But please allow me to put it this way: if someone out there still doesn't own a Switch yet, would either be enough on their own to convince them to plunk down the cash for the system? At least as much as, say, a new "mainstream" Zelda or Mario?
Most of us on these boards are longtime Nintendo supporters; we'd readily buy the Animal Crossings, Pokemons, Fire Emblems, etc. anyway, so it's pretty much assumed they're going to sell well to existing Switch users. But as awesome as they are, to the folks out there who might get a system and ever only play a handful of games (or sequels to the same handful of franchises year after year) on it, they lack in terms of being household names and receiving constant media hype the way Zelda, Mario, Call of Duty, Madden, and so on do. Of the games we've discussed I'd give Pokémon the best chance of "moving systems", but only because of general consumer awareness. Not all of the best games are "AAA" titles..."AAA" in this case meaning they're not always the most famous and best-selling IPs. That was the point I was trying to make.
As for Mario Kart 8, yes it's performing great but it's already approaching half a decade old now as well, and it began its life as a Wii U title. Sure, Nintendo may wait another year or two before unveiling the next installment, but then what is to fill the multiplayer and organized tournament void left behind by Splatoon 2 in the meantime? There's also the (perceived, at the very least) notion of the Switch already approaching the halfway mark of its "life cycle"...if a successor or upgraded version isn't announced even sooner. So I wouldn't be too surprised to see MK 9 be announced during this year's Direct for that reason alone.
Sorry, I didn't mean to offend anyone by the "system mover" remark. I think it's safe to say we all want this year's E3 Direct to be amazing and to see as many incredible games as Nintendo can pack into that 40 minutes. At any rate, we'll see what happens Tuesday.
40 min seems pretty great! The Xbox conference was pretty lengthy but honestly didn’t feel like it had too long of announcements for me. Also, seeing so many “new announcements” was incredible. I hope Nintendo’s offers a similar feeling!
HYPE HYPE HYPE HYPE! At the time of writing, there are 34 hours to go! I'm not crazy!
With a 40 minute runtime, I don't expect all of it is going to be brief announcements. So I expect a deep dive on one or more games, along with some dates for games we know about, and a dash of surprise announcements to top it off. Not to mention some DLC, like the new Smash character.
Nintendo really doesn't have to do much to shine for E3 right now. Everyone else is mostly throwing softballs.
All the Dragon Quest please.
Please Mario Kart 8 DLC
@sixrings you do realise some people have absolutely no interest in those triple a games. Call of duty. Ea sports games. Battlefield. Tomb raider. Red dead. Gta.
To add to the thread though, as usual i’ll just wait and see what happens, it’s always nicer to be pleasantly surprised rather than having my hopes dashed.
I’m just happy that they are finally showing u pikmin Tuesday!!
Switch is in desperate need of good third party games. (Instead of indie trash which we have much more than necessary.)
Even the ill-fated Wii U had more Assassins Creeds and CODs than the Switch...
Not to mention the sandbox games which are the most fun on any console. No GTA, no Mafia, no Just Cause, no Far Cry, no RDR, no Red Faction etc. (At least it has two oldies from the previous generation, LA Noire and Saints Row TT.)
And the (lack of) racing games, geez. Nothing good beside Mario Kart (which is also just a port from Wii U).
MS has the absolute best with the Forzas (+Horizons), but even Sony has Drive Club and Gran Turismo.
So, what about the best third party racing titles on Switch?
Any Project Cars? Dirt Rally? WRC? Need for Speed? The Crew?
Nope. None of the above. Zero. Nada.
But it has... mobile racing game ports.
Yes.
The world's currently most popular console has only that.
I think it's a shame.
I would say, I'd be happy to hear about a more powerful "Switch Pro". But frankly, what good would it do? Would the good games suddenly be released exclusively for that?
No way.
I didn't need the Switch to play indies in the first place so I surely wouldn't need a Pro to play them.
I just hope we'll have more decent third party titles. I didn't buy the console for the Nintendo exclusives.
It could be so much more.
@construx Not buying a Switch for the Nintendo exclusives?
Switch may be a decent platform for playing indie games, mobile ports, and last-gen cross-platform games on the go, but Nintendo exclusives are the games that bring most people to the Switch party.
Though it's still nice to have occasional timed third-party exclusives like Octopath and Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 - third party exclusives being pretty unusual in general these days.
@construx I kind of liked Redout and Fast RMX.
OK a short E3 for Nintendo filled with expected game clips. So any surprises?
I'm no Mystic Meg but judging by Nintendo's track record I think........
Luigi would be a good Halloween release but that would be to close to the Pokémon release, so Luigi is the Christmas release.
Animal Crossing will be held back until Spring 2020 to fit in with a Switch mini launch.
Another Wii U game or two will be ported to fill the gaps.
A new Mario game will be hinted at but will not see the light of day until late next year, or maybe for a Pro launch.
Not sure where the new Zelda fits in.
@blecch : I bought the Switch because it seemed the ultimate console. The console which unites handheld and regular consoles. You wouldn't need another. You could have it in one.
If all third party AAA games would appear on it, there would be hardly any reason to buy an Xbox or a Playstation anymore.
But I guess Nintendo either can't or doesn't want to be so ambitious.
That's too bad. I still remember a time when they were.
I bought the Switch for FIFA, the first portable title with all the online options (including FUT). Not even the Vita had that. And I got what I wanted. More fun gameplay than on any other console. I enjoy it immensely.
Two years later, EA kills it.
That, unfortunately, predicts a Wii U-like future for the Switch...
40 minutes of GOODNESS! Can´t wait.
40 minutes is great as long as its not all focused on pokemon as thats already had its own direct! animal crossing!!!!!! please!! im also expecting some kind of surprise release available after the presentation.
Imagine if Animal Crossing Switch will be about creating the whole city like Dragon Quest Builders 2 with so many customize options.
I'm fine with anything as long as they keep it to announcements and short trailers. I really want Animal Crossing, but I really wanted Smash too and that was just overkill last year.
@sixrings Well, EA can keep their Battlefield games, a game series making a circus out of interesting historical periods. Then there's Call of Duty, which used to be really great and historically correct until they f..... it up by focusing on modern/future settings and going to space. GTA... probably the most boring game series ever, so thank God we don't get that garbage and I don't even want to think about the scandal that is Fifa for Switch... EA demanding full price for a half assed update to 19 is equal to armed bank robbery...shame on you EA. Tomb Raider and RDR on the other hand could be cool on Switch, though.
@construx You are maybe a little too much pessimistic. WiiU-like future? Well, everybody knows EA hates Nintendo after the latter refused to allow Origin on the console and thank God for that. I bought Fifa 18 and was entertained for a while. Then I actually thought about buying Fifa 20 until EA revealed it will be just an update to 19 at full price. Hahaha, EA, who do you think you're fooling? Now I will find some really cheap second hand 19 and get that instead. This is EA in a nutshell as it has always been, but how about all the other developers? Bethesda, From Software, Rebellion, Netherrealm, Platinum, Arc System Works, THQ Nordic etc... the Switch is nowhere near the fate of the WiiU and the developers know this. The WiiU sold a measly 13 million consoles in its lifetime and Switch already surpassed the 40 million mark selling faster than the PS4. It's only EA and Activision who think Nintendo money stinks. So cheer up and enjoy all the great games coming to the Switch.
40 minutes is a decent length, as long as no time is wasted with pointless and ever repeating marketing speeches AND as long as they don't waste excessive amounts on SSB DLC or something like that. Anything beyond 60 mins is just too long for my taste (see Microsoft yesterday).
I hope they keep it snappy, focus as the article suggests on content coming within roughly about a year and most of all, focus on actual gameplay and not cinematic trailers (looking at you Bethesda and Microsoft).
Frankly, at this point I feel like the only reasonable approach to cinematics is to have them setup the world and atmosphere to be followed by some kind of gameplay (snippet). If it were up to me, I'd like to never hear or see anything of a game, that is not far enough along to have at least some gameplay snippets ready for public consumption.
That should be like a hard rule for companies imho.
I only have a thirty minute lunch break here on the east coast of the U.S. So, nintendo, which 10 minutes should i miss?
Of course, at least i don't have to get up in the middle of the night.
@Park_Triolo just because you don't like the particular games I don't see why you should be hoping that these games don't come on the system. Do all switch owners need to have your nintendo superiority complex?
I only wanted 4 things: next DLC character for Smash which is confirmed now, Luigi's Mansion 3 and Link's Awakening street dates, and hopefully an update on Bayonetta 3. Ok well I'm hoping for a street date for you Animal Crossing fans, but those games were never for me.
I can hope from e3 in general modern warfare mobile... Ridge racer... Daytona hd... streetfighter 4.... 007 remaster... outrun 2... red dead remaster...
Anyways I'd like a pro model primary so my nintendo games look better.... digital foundry found out that the new super mario 3d world art from mario maker 2 is running at 900p! That to me is not good enough. I want my first party games in 1080p. And the added bonus hopefully is a system that easily let's ps4/xbox one games be ported. Win win.
Nintendo games I'd like is fzero gx hd... punch out Wii hd.... mario galaxy hd.... metroid prime hd... I am happy to play Luigi mansion and links awakening this year.
I'm not holding out much hope if it's going to be just this year focus... Apart from games we already know about I think we might see one we don't and it won't be what we want lol
Is it wrong to wish for a quiet year so I can catch up with my giant backlog? Yes it is. Make my backlog grow even bigger, I dare you!
Maybe a couple of games we don’t know about but mainly the games we have known about for a year.
Nintendo have consolidated the Switch for now but with PS5 and Scarlett coming in 18 months, Switch 2 will have to happen.
And it needs to be Switch 2 not Switch U!
@Park_Triolo After the new generation of consoles come out next year, there will be no chance of third party AAA titles getting released for the Switch anymore.
A portable console can only be as powerful as the previous "regular" generations.
So Nintendo either brings out Switch 2 very soon or will be left without third party support. Again.
And considering what they're doing with their back catalogue on the Switch (literally nothing, we're still on NES while we should be at Gamecube), it seems like they don't see that timeline or don't care or don't have any plans for the next generation.
Which is fine, the machine will only be 3.5 years old when PS5/Xbox Whatever comes out.
It just will soon be irrelevant.
But even that won't be a problem if xCloud will be easily usable on the Switch.
Then we will have the game library that makes a kickass console.
Thanks to Microsoft.
@construx How can the Switch have a Wii U future when it’s already surpassed PS4 sales at the same time in its life cycle. There’s been a Doom monger but that’s going too far.
Nintendo were never ever going to try and compete at the same level as MS and Sony. It would have been impossible. PS4 and XB1 already had such massive user bases that trying to make something that could directly was compete would have been unlikely.
That’s why they pitched the Switch as a hybrid that would survive as a second console like the Wii. I only have a Switch but most people I know who are gamers have either a PS4 or XB1 as well and use the Switch as a handheld mostly.
Nintendo pitched the Switch right and its user base is still growing.
The EA and FIFA issue happens with nearly every Nintendo console. EA and Nintendo just don’t get on so the legacy edition being realises is neither a surprise nor anything that suggests the Switch is starting to struggle. It isn’t. But yes, Nintendo will need to upgrade the power in the next 18 months to stay within the console circle without trying to win it. The days of Nintendo trying to win console wars are long gone.
@construx Which would make prefect sense. Nintendo get online wrong all of the time so why not let MS do it for them properly and we get incredible games too! It would be a great decision but a Switch 2 will be needed in the next 18 months. Otherwise, as you rightly say, Switch will just have nothing ported to it at all and become irrelevant 3.5 years into its life and it can be so much more.
Personally I think the Switch is fantastic but Nintendo can’t just sit still. Sure they won’t compete on the same level but they can offer the most powerful handheld console of each generation in the future. And that cements their future.
Sweet! Now I can watch it while giving my diabetic cat his insulin while he tries to bite my hands!
@jarvismp,
I don't think you could describe the Xbox One's userbase massive, they have lost a lot of groung to Sony this time, the Nintendo Switch will outsell the Xbox One very easily,as it won't be that far away at the moment aftre only 2 years on the market.
Nintendo wil release a cheaper version of the Switch this year to appeal to the 3DS market, this will be a great idea as they will have two consoles but effectivley only havd to produce one lot of software to satisfy both machines, they will then release a more powerful switch sometime next year.
the direct starts with a surprise Luigi's mansion 3 game play showing off multiplayer and the surprise boom Luigi's mansion 3 august 9th release date
@johnvboy I would have to say I agree with you.
I'm keeping my expectations low. Show me more Astral Chain, Fire Emblem, Rune Factory 4 Special and Animal Crossing. I haven't played any of the Luigi Mansion games so I have no feelings about 3. Oh yeah some more Pokemon information, even if it's just starter first evolutions would be great but I know TPC likes to do their own thing. I don't think I'm asking for much haha
I'm enjoying Animal Crossing New Leaf too much to care about Animal Crossing switch haha
@AtlanteanMan
" But please allow me to put it this way: if someone out there still doesn't own a Switch yet, would either be enough on their own to convince them to plunk down the cash for the system?"
Yes.
Games that sell are capable of selling 12-16 million copies each are going to push hardware sales. Of course, a new Mario and Zelda game are also going to push hardware sales since they will also sell that much, but let's not discredit Pokemon and Animal Crossing.
Heck, up until Breath of the Wild, no Zelda game managed to surpass 8 million copies sold on a single platform, which is a sales milestone that Pokemon and Animal Crossing games have achieved with relative ease. Even Luigi's Mansion 2 has sold more copies than many Zelda titles.
i think it would be cool if there was some more information about pokemon sword and pokemon shield and i cant wait for more information on luiges mansion 3 also i really would love a new wii sports game like you know how there was wii sports resort well i think it would be really cool if there was a new one like switch sports resort i also would really like for there to be a kingdom hearts game on the switch like 1.5 2.5 or 2.8 remix hd the story so far also kingdom hearts 3 and mario kart 9.
@Toadie There is so much unexplored about the Luigi>Waluigi relationship that is unexplored, so this would make sense. It appears some wider Mario universe characters will at least cameo in LM3, so there's a chance of this.
Super Metroid HD incoming Fast.
