Despite the figure not being shown in the Nintendo E3 Direct, The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening is getting its very own amiibo release. And wow is it adorable.
As you can see, it's based on Link's cutesy design from the new Switch release, which was confirmed to be releasing on 20th September during the show. Nintendo has provided us with the lowdown on our new favourite amiibo below:
Launching alongside the game will be a new Link amiibo figure that lets players put this adorable new art style in the palm of their hands. A special Dreamer Edition will come with the game and the Dreamer Art Book, which features concept art from the Nintendo Switch version of the game. The game and amiibo are each scheduled to launch Sept. 20.

Huzzah! Would have preferred one based on the original game (especially if it unlocked a
Link in the art style in game), but this is still awesome. And technically it’s meant to be the same Link as Link to the Past Link, who’s not been Amiibified yet (oddly missing from the Zelda anniversary series)

I'm super annoyed that Europe's Special Edition comes with a Game Boy steelbook case and the art book while in North America, we just get the art book. ARGH, Nintendo and their regional exclusives are such an annoyance. Everyone should have the ability to get these without having to pay import fees.

@Silly_G lol good point, it wouldn't be the first amiibo with sole functionality being taking a portion of our money, after all half of all the Zelda amiibos do exactly just that, they don't have any real purpose.

@Beermonkey Lately Nintendo hasn't been giving North America anything. The last good special edition would have been for Breath of the Wild at launch. But now we get an artbook and they call it a day while other regions get other cool additions like the Steelbook. I've said it before and I'll say it again, regional exclusives suck...especially on a console like the Switch which is supposed to be region-free. Everyone, Europe/North & South America/Asia/Australia & New Zealand/Africa/anywhere Nintendo operates should have the same chance at the Special Editions. Make enough for every region to get some!!!!
