Last week's update to Mortal Kombat 11 on the Switch was meant to stamp out various bugs, but it might have actually caused more harm than good. Since patch went live, some Nintendo users have reportedly been struggling to connect to the MK11 servers, locking them out of multiple modes due to the online nature of the game.
One Switch player, who goes by the name of krinax over on Reddit, was able to get a reply from Warner Bros. customer support. The response explained how the company was currently dealing with a higher volume of cases than normal but did not acknowledge if there was a problem on Mortal Kombat's end. The solution provided suggests users clear the cache data by power cycling the Switch or deleting Mortal Kombat and its DLC from the system and reinstalling it. One other piece of advice was to ensure the game is played on a stable internet connection.
The user who reported this problem followed all of these steps but unfortunately had no luck resolving the issue. Other players said they had been unable to "connect for days" while some said they had been crashing more often since the update arrived.

Ooooo, that's not good. They need to fix that quick. Looks like a problem on the dev's side.
I bought the game at launch and was never able to connect, I had constant server issues. I played a little of the story mode but ended up trading it in because of it. They need to fix the Switch version. Especially because it seems to be selling well.
@Evenmoresteven Didn't want to wait until they fixed it? Not saying you shouldn't have traded it in, just seems like a shame. The game appears to be pretty good.
I've had no problems whatsoever connecting via good home WiFi. Stunner. Absolutely brilliant outstanding game.
@Kalmaro I was on the fence about it anyway, and there’s so many other great games right now. I just wanted to play other stuff more, and I figured if I traded it now I would get more for it. The connection issues were just the nail in the coffin.

Because Mortal Kombat is a small indie game without the staff to properly test an update before it launches...
There is no excuse in my opinion for not testing your software before you release it. And I do not believe that this sort of issue would not be found if it were tested before the update is released.
I'm waiting for a price drop before picking this one up. I want it but not 80dollars kind of want it, especially with the current bugs.
Very glad I decided not to bother with this game.
Online on anything will always have server and connection issues, in my gaming life up til now I had never play any fighting game online except one, Tatsunoko vs. Capcom for Wii and that's because a friend of mine really want to try me on that one otherwise I wouldn't bother with online for that either.

BTW have about 80 hours into the game and over 100 crashes to date.
Yep. Cant login at all into their damn servers since the latest Switch patch.
It was really stupid to lock 3/4 of the game behind a damn server as the game and port is absolutely amazing and this is coming from someone who loved MK and walked away after part 3.
While the port job is really well done, and the game runs unfathomably smoothly, I still run into occasional crashes here and there. Despite these hour long updates...c'mon guys!
@Heavyarms55 no excuses unless you have a marketing based management who only care about deadlines over quality, then one of the big three goes - developed functions, systems engineering/design or testing. Usually for gaming its testing as patching after now seems to be the habit, no matter what state the game is in. If you also have a toxic work environment meaning long hours, high pressure and stupid management - then your not going to see quality for a while if ever. I give it 6 months or longer....
My brother has it and has a stable internet connection, no problems there.

I never had problems connecting to the servers, these must be some isolated cases. Awesome game!
Me too, haven't been able to connect to the server for days now and NetherRealm not acknowledging it is quite p*ss*ng me off
