Can you believe it's June already? Where is the time going? It's only gonna be flippin' E3 soon! Anyway, another month means more lovely stuff to buy, which is presumably why you clicked this link.
May saw the release of the lovely Team Sonic Racing, the fiendish Resident Evil Origins Collection and the slightly underwhelming Assassin's Creed III Remastered... but what's next for Switch, you may be wondering as your hard-earned money burns a hole in your pocket. We've helpfully compiled a list of all the good stuff coming out at retail in June and July, so feast your eyes and get all those pennies together – you're going to need them!

Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled - 21st June
Just like buses, you wait for one kart racer and then two come along at once, it seems! If you're after a more retro-fueled experience than Team Sonic Racing offers, Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled just might be the answer when the Bandicoot once again comes to Switch after his debut in Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy last year. A remake of Naughty Dog's PlayStation original, this looks set to fire up your nostalgia when it races onto Switch on Friday 21st June.
Super Mario Maker 2 - 28th June
Not too much longer to wait now, the anticipation is killing us. Fans of the original Super Mario Maker on Wii U will be well-served here and there's a plethora of additions to that brilliant foundation, including multiplayer and the Super Mario 3D World skin - gotta love that Cat Mario! From what we can tell Super Mario Maker 2 is shaping up to be an essential purchase for the Switch with oodles of new level creation possibilities, including SLOPES!
If you need a new Nintendo Switch Online subscription soon, we'd recommend picking up the bundle where you can get an extra 12 month subscription for only $10 extra with Super Mario Maker 2.
Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order - 19th July
Avengers: Endgame may have come and gone, but Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order is something to keep Marvel fans occupied until the next MCU film comes along (although considering the frequency of the films, there's probably a couple scheduled for release before 19th July anyway). The sequel to - you guessed it - Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2, this is a Nintendo-published exclusive and we're jazzed to see the action roleplaying series come to Switch courtesy of Team Ninja.
Wolfenstein: Youngblood - 26th July
Seeing Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus on Switch was a wonderful surprise, so we're excited to see this spin-off/side-story coming to the console at the end of the month. You take on the role of one of B.J. Blazkowicz's daughters in this new story that sees them heading to Paris, the City of Light, in search of their old man. It's set in the 1980s and is shaping up to be one hell of a ride.
You can choose between the standard or deluxe versions, with the latter including a Buddy Pass and the Cyborg Skin Pack. Tinkety tonk old fruit, and down with the Nazis.
Fire Emblem: Three Houses - 26th July
After the hack and slash antics of musou crossover Fire Emblem Warriors, it's once again time to strap on your SRPG thinking cap and get ready for Fire Emblem: Three Houses. Channelling a little bit of Harry Potter and a little bit of Game of Thrones, Three Houses sees you join a school as a teacher to instruct students of one of three noble houses from the kingdom of Fódlan. With the turn-based tactics that the series is famous for, plus a peppering of new systems and surprises, this one is looking to be an essential purchase whether you're a fan of permadeath or not.
More Awesome Nintendo Switch Games
Aside from the highlighted games above, there are lots more Switch retail games which might take your fancy in June and beyond.
Awesome Accessories For Your Switch
We saw a whole slew of interesting accessories released for the Switch in the past few months, but more are on the way. Here are some tantalising accessories coming up in June and beyond, which we found for your consideration.
So that's it for June and July - did we miss anything? Let us know with a comment and also tell us if you've pre-ordered any of these goodies!

Dragon Quest Builders 2, cannot wait...! 😃
Oooh.... PowerA Transparent Teal Blue color! 😀
I want sonic 2!
i hope Raiden V is good. i liked the flash game alot.
A lot of good stuff coming this summer!
Wow, you guys posted two listings for Panty Party but not even a mention of Umihara Kawase Fresh?
Definitely:
Maybe:
Also got Clannad preordered (releases in July) and a few others taken care of for later in the year.
mario maker 2!!! so amped!
@TheActualGold True, Kawase deserves a mention. I grabbed the Japanese copy because it has English and was just as easy for me to import as the American version anyway so I've been gradually making my way through it over the last few weeks. Been quite enjoying it.
Holy crap I didn't realize July was game month for me:
God Eater 3, next week, Ultimate Alliance 3, next week, Fire Emblem 3 Houses. Not to mention my backer set for Bloodstained will probably arrive July 1st!
For me:
1. Bloodstained (kickstarter)
2. Super Mario Maker 2 (pre-purchased)
The prospect of a home console Fire Emblem really excites me, especially since Path of Radiance was one of my most played Gamecube games. But all of the footage they've shown for Three Houses has looked like the frame rate really tanks in battle, and I'm not really a fan of the art direction in this game either. I really want to be hyped, but this one is a "wait and see" kind of purchase for me.
Bloodstained preordered and so is mm2
CTR and MM2 for me, but probably not until later this year.
Already preordered physical copy of CTR. Can't wait.
NintendoLife needs more cash? Are the finances not looking so good?
RE all the affiliate links here.
PS. I've imported a few things from Amazon UK to Australia vis the affiliate links. I'm ok with helping out NL. You're one of my favourite gaming websites.
The games that interest me:
Mario Maker 2 - Already pre-ordered. In Australia because we get the stylus and a MM2 graph pad as pre-order bonuses.
Raiden 5 - I might get that later on as I did like the earlier games.
That's it really.
I do think Cities Skylines is a great game but might need a mouse and keyboardto be played properly. Also not sure how a big city runs on the Switch late game. It's better than the latest Sim City. Better than Sim City 4 though? Maybe. SIm City 4 was quite amazing.
Mario maker 2 will be good. Initially it will be a huge success then after a few months people will stop playing and look for something else. This happened on the WII U which only had a few worthwhile games, whereas the switch has tonnes. Hopefully CTR will be infinitely better than the disappointing sonic racing.
The Isabelle amiibo is also coming on July 26th, in the US at least
Mario Maker 2 and Super Neptunia RPG for me. For Switch anyway.
Also this month, the new update for Star Wars, Thrawn's Revenge is planned to release. So that's also got me excited!
Dragon Quest Builders 2...can.not.wait!
Also looking forward to Three Houses..Will be my first Fire Emblem game.
@Wazeddie22 Don't put it on Hard mode or you'll never want to play Fire Emblem again lol
@the8thark I've played dozens of hours of Cities Skylines on Switch and it runs very well, even in portable. It doesn't look as nice as a high end gaming PC of course, but it never struggles to run even very late game.
The controls honestly surprised me. I figured it would take some getting used to, but it was surprisingly intuitive. Within an hour of starting I had gotten so used to them I wasn't even thinking about it.
It's never gonna be as nice as playing on a gaming PC, it doesn't look as good or have all the DLC. But it's absolutely awesome to have a full meat city sim like this that I can play on the train, at the coffee shop or in my bathroom. I'd recommend it to anyone who both likes city sim games and plays Switch in portable mode from time to time - or anyone who doesn't have a gaming PC.
Also don't read the review of it on this site - it is total hogwash and I seriously question if they spent more than 2 hours with a pre-release build of the game.
That pichu amino is so cute, I might have to pick one up ! I’m also so excited to play Ultimate Alliance 3, it’s my most anticipated game of the year
I've already preordered Raiden V and Psikyo Shooting Library Vol. 1&2.
I'll also preorder Caladrius Blaze as soon as i know for sure what options i have with that one, so far only Asian version has been confirmed, i'd prefer s western version.
I also really want MUA3, but i think i'll get that one later down the road.
On a sidenote, i noticed NL put some August titles in this list. Unser these circumstances, they should have also included Arcade Love Plus Pengo!, which is a very important release in my opinion because it's the first Switch game from shmup development legends Triangle Service.
@USWITCH64 lol, no. Like with the first one, people are going to be making tons of awesome levels for it all day every day, as they still do. It wouldn't matter if the Switch had a billion awesome games to play on it, they wouldn't be Mario Maker 2, so, for people who want to play Mario Maker 2, they're going to play Mario Maker 2. It doesn't matter if it's a day old, or a decade, if there isn't a sequel out, people are going to play it.
Is the NEOGEO mini console Ninty? Or a Ninty accessory???
Good stretch coming up for me.
Bloodstained
FireEmblem
Mutant year zero.
None of my online mates have a Switch. So doing YoungBlood on PC. But Hopefully does ok on Switch.
Have Judgement for Jun also,... Home and commute covered for a while!
@Heavyarms55 It's on my wish list. Totally agree with you. Genre busting debut of something new and NL shoots it down like a trespasser.
Mario maker 2, bloodstained and mua3 for me.
@the8thark I also don’t believe it’s a coincidence that their game ranking articles have the most current games at the top spot with that Amazon link right under it 😂😂 I question the integrity of the writers on this site, but I stick around for the decent community and the aesthetically pleasing site layout.
This most anticipated game is out in 2 weeks:
Super Mario Maker 2 and Fire Emblem Three Houses will be my pickups. Might also snag Crash Team Racing but I'm still on the fence with it.
"Panty Party"
Excuse me what
@Aaronatorr Its a game about living panties figthing other living panties.
@Nintendo_Thumb yeah like I said it will sell loads but it won't have staying power like mario kart
July is really gonna hurt.
Crash Team racing!
Got MM2 preordered. I just hope it comes with the stylus. Here in Ireland, there's been no confirmation of whether or not we'll be getting the stylus. I've checked all the stores and no one knows anything.
Just Mario Maker 2 limited edition.
Will be picking up MM2 and Wolfenstein. I’m curious about bloodstained and Marvel but I’ll have to wait and see on those. Can’t wait to see if there’s any surprises coming with E3.
“Initially it will be a huge success then after a few months people will stop playing and look for something else. This happened on the WII U which only had a few worthwhile games”
Just curious how did you come to this conclusion? I still check out MM1 pretty often and there are still plenty of levels uploaded everyday. The answer better not be “out of my own ***”.
I have Fire Emblem and Shovel Knight preordered. There’s a lot of Okay/good looking stuff between now and FE, but i think post e3 we will see a bunch of Amazing things coming
Ugh, the longer they take before showing Animal Crossing, the more I feel it's coming out late in the year... My Switch isn't going to be getting any new games until they finally give me my Animal Crossing!!! We were trolled by Nintendo at E3, 2015, and nearly 5 years later NOTHING to show what the Switch's will be! Come on, you've had 4 years (at least) to develop one, and you won't show us ANY game footage???? GIVE ME MY ANIMAL CROSSING OR I WILL REVOLT!!!
No mention of Astral Chain on 8-30? I'm looking forward to a lot on this list. MM2, CTR, MUA3, FE, God Eater 3, Kill La Kill, Bloodstained...summer is going to murder my wallet.
Did I read it somewhere (on this site) a while ago that Wolfenstein will be a download code in a box only and not on an actual cartridge, or did I just imagine this whole scenario?
Definitely getting Super Mario Maker 2 and maybe Fire Emblem: Three Houses and CTR. Not sure about Bloodstained.
@ALinkttPresent Haha thanks for the advice!knowing me I'll start on normal and end up on easy lol.
I see they forgot to mention for Mario Maker 2 that the online multiplayer will be with randoms only. No playing with friends online people, just incase anyone was purchasing for this feature.
senran kagura peach ball is for the science!
@GuruOfGreatness yep the box contains a paper with the digital code.
Excited for God Eater, UA3, and Enter the Gungeon physical edition.
I'm getting
*Fire Emblem Three Houses
*Mario Maker 2
*World End Syndrome physical
*Senran Kagura Peach Ball
*Bloodstained Ritual of Night
*DragonQuest Builders 2
*God Eater 3
There's a lot of interesting games and accessories coming out. Definitely getting Mario Maker 2 on day one. I'll pick up Dragon Quest Builders 2 after I finish the first one and Crash Team Racing after I read some reviews. Many of the other games I don't know enough about, but I'm intrigued by several. I really like the look of the teal Power A controller. Very Nintendo.
Senran Kagura Peach Ball is coming out but you didn't write a blurb (or even show it's real box art). Cowards! I bet Nintendo Life employees will all be playing it in secret.
Dragon Quest Builders 2 is going to be fun on any console it is on including the Switch. Not sure about many of the other games on this list, but I decided to pre-order Fire Emblem: Three Houses. This series has brought me hours of fun. It is a big risk to pre-order any game, but I have a good feeling about Three Houses.
SMM2, maybe the version with the 12mo sub to NSO. I love that Teal Frost controller. At the moment however, I have no need for it. Edit: Oh, and probably Luigi's Mansion 3.
I really want a U.S. release date for yokai watch 4
Is that the official date for Killer Queen Black? I haven’t heard about that since last year’s E3. Cool.
I'm only really interested in the first party releases...
But Mario Maker 2 Switch Online...
For me its going to be.
*CTR
Bloodstained ritual
God eater 3
Maybe
Mm2
So for the first half of the year we we struggling to buy games for our Switches, now we enter 6 months where we have to decide what to miss.
Where's Astral Chain?
@Anti-Matter I'm less excited about Dragon Quest Builders 2 after finding out how disappointing the multiplayer is.
@CashMadness How is it a big risk....?
@NotTelevision It's official. I was playing the beta for it just yesterday and it was plastered in the email with links to Amazon. It's great, by the way.
Yay can't wait to NOT play Mario Maker 2 online with my friends!
@Deltath
But.... The building aspects are soooo.... Interesting! 😀😀😀
I cannot wait to build my own house and a whole city.
@ALinkttPresent You mean don't put it on 'My favorite characters always die mode' LOL!
@Anti-Matter And I had a ton of fun with Dragon Quest Builders. But the sequel looks fairly samey and what really gripped me was the idea of full coop. But it's so limited I'm a little bummed now.
Already prepurchased Mario Maker 2 and Dragon Quest Builders 2 with the voucher. There are definitely a couple of games on the list that I will get aswell.
Totally psyched for Panty Party.
Simply can't wait to play Mario Maker 2 and the new Fire Emblem as well pick up the Pokemon Trainer amiibo which looks spectacular. There are literally soooooo many games headed to Nintendo Switch. Though Nintendo you could give the 3DS some attention or a proper Swan Song title at the least .
@Deltath I don’t know much info on the game yet, and the last few recent AAA titles have been mediocre.
@CashMadness Sure, but the worst case scenario is a game that disappoints you. Risk seems pretty minimal.
Mario Maker 2 and CTR so close now
YO-KAI WATCH 4: WE’RE LOOKING UP AT THE SAME SKY?
Strange including this tho. We have no release date of localization of this game, have we?
I'm interested in playing games, not making them.
