Last November, the developer and publisher QUByte released 99Vidas on the Switch eShop. The 16-bit title was created in conjunction with 99Vidas - Brazil's most popular video game podcast - and aimed to recreate the magic of the beat 'em up golden era, when games such as Final Fight, Double Dragon, Battletoads, Golden Axe and Streets of Rage were in their prime.
Now, months later, physical distributor Strictly Limited Games has revealed 99Vidas will receive a print run for Switch. This copy of the game will include "The Last Battle" DLC and is limited to 3,000 copies. Pre-orders open on 26th May (aka. this Sunday). Even the box art seems to channel the 16-bit era:
You'll also receive an exclusive pin gift if you previously purchased the PlayStation 4 or PS Vita version of the game.
As previously noted, the Switch version features "exclusive" content. This includes an all-new arcade mode and remix mode, along with new stages and enemies. It also supports four players (local and online) and features a story and survival mode.
Will you be adding this to your physical Switch collection? Tell us below.

Good idea to release games with Brazil as the specific demo. There's a solid chance they will still be buying it to play on Switch in 2080.
The switch needs more beat em ups! I just got Capcom Beat Em Up Bundle this week and it got me really into the arcade spirit. Hoping for a bundle 2 to come out someday. But for now I might have to pick this one up bc 99 Vidas does look good imo.
Yay...!!
Finally!
So, i have another excuse to skip the PS4 version.
@gloom there are a couple of beat em ups floating round. here's a list of some upcoming physical releases (just to name a few)
-streets of red
-Gekido kintaros revenge
-9 monkeys
-wulverblade
-raging justice
also you can pick up code of princess & shaqfu right now. AND the sega megadrive collection has some decent beat em ups!
@JHDK I don't know if your intension was to effend Brazillians, we play old games as much as other countries do. I'm Brazilian and never heard of this game or podcast, I just hope it's a good game and if someone buy, they have fun while playing it.
@IHateTombs
I have no choice to buy PS4 just because The Sims 4 and FF XII the Zodiac Age.
I cannot resist for the Sims 4 on console version.
Actually i never want to buy PS4 due to poorer games library quality than on Nintendo Switch.
But now after FF XII the Zodiac Age also on Nintendo Switch, i sold the PS4 version since i prefer Nintendo Switch version for its portability.
And beside... I don't have to buy ALL 3 version of same games if i just only have 1 specific machine. I'm also thinking the budget i have.
Btw, about 99Vidas.
That 16bit style game is Perfect to be played on Nintendo Switch than on PS4 since it looked like Retro games with less power required and to play that Retro style game on PS4, i feel it looked very wrong.
@IHateTombs
I still LOVE my PS2 & PS1 games due to its great games library than on N64 & Gamecube.
I have some Gamecube games as well.
Btw, on PS4 what is great games for most peoples, maybe it will be Blah for me and vice versa.
I don't want to continue this debate since i'm afraid the moderator will remind me if i continue this debate about PS4 machine.
Wow this comment section.
I didn't know this comment section was so free that any kind of prejudice would be allowed. What are you thinking @JHDK ?
@Matresende I don't know if @JHDK just meant to be deliberately offensive or if he simply found a way to express his thoughts of superiority.
I just hope this kind of initiative (releasing games, not exactly physical editions) helps change our Brazilian way of thinking when it comes to games (and digital services in general). The market here is complicated, mentality is hard to deal with and many many people still prefer to resort to piracy. I say this as a Brazilian. Nintendo does very little to fight it and it seems that they just don't care about our market, even though people import physical editions massively and buy games from eshops all over the world (the Brazilian eshop still a joke). Sony found a way to thrive in our market, although people still find ways to get it cheaper.
I usually buy two copies of Strictly Limited Games(The Allowed Limit). But this game really doesn't do it for me so i'll just be buying 1 copy just to keep my collection complete.
@IHateTombs who is being a fanboy is you, if we compare the third year of switch with the year of ps4, the year of switch is tons better. Even this year of switch vs the actual year of ps4, the switch releases are tons better.
But to finish this discussion, you was wrong in the moment you are in a nintendo site and try say other consoles are better. If you want be jealous of switch library, go do it in a a site not nintendo-only.
@Matresende I am also Brazilian and a big fan of 99 Vidas. They are amazing and the podcast is really good. I follow them from the beginning. Here's the website: http://99vidas.com.br
I know what you mean @TossedLlama. Although i didn't get a collectors edition i did get the regular edition and 1 art card for my collection. The art cards always sell out in 1-3 minutes. And i'm sure you know but if you didn't you can try to get a collectors edition again on Sunday.
Back on topic, this is a pretty nice brawler. I would recommend to anyone who likes Streets of Rage. I'm glad they sold enough to warrant a physical release.
Got my CE preorder plus aluminum plates.
@Anti-Matter Sims 4 on console version is garbage to control and load, just get a cheap laptop or desktop to play it proper
if it came to the Switch then it might of worked as long they made use of the touch screen
also my PS4 is catching dust while Switch is used nearly all the time
@ClassSonicSatAm
But i cannot play PC games anymore since my PC isn't designed for playing PC games and i prefer console version than PC version.
I have played the Sims 4 PS4 version. The control with PS4 controller was quite awkward at the beginning but i can navigate easily after several hours gameplay.
Same. My PS4 Slim also catch some dust for several weeks.
I'm sorry to hear that @TossedLlama. That's why i don't even try to get the collectors editions anymore. I just get mad and frustrated. There are a few Regular Editions like the one i got left though like 12%.
