If you're looking forward to learning a little more about the next instalments in the Pokémon franchise - Pokémon Sword and Shield for Nintendo Switch - it looks like you might just be in luck.
According to Serebii, CoroCoro Ichiban (a sister magazine of the monthly CoroCoro Comic) has revealed that its next issue will include the "latest information" for the new games. Naturally, this doesn't give away just how much info we should expect or whether it will expand upon the facts we already know by a significant amount, but we can expect some kind of update at the very least - and that's always a good thing.
This issue is due to release on Friday 21st June, so almost a month from today. With E3 taking place the week before, it's possible that the games will make an appearance during Nintendo's E3 Direct, with any information in CoroCoro simply retelling what is shown. Alternatively, the games might not be shown at E3 at all, with any announcements instead being presented through the magazine.
Either way, exciting times seem to be ahead for Pokémon fans. We'll make sure to report on any news on Pokémon Sword and Shield as it arrives.
What do you hope to see next for the games? Are you already sold on buying them, or are you hoping Nintendo can win you over? Let us know in the comments below.

Sword and Shield direct?
Show me the boxart legendaries, version exclusives, and starter evos.
I hope they leave the vast majority of the other new Pokemon secret until release. I was so disappointed in S/M partly due to it all being spoiled beforehand. Imagine if we actually got to start out on route 1 and encounter a completely new Pokemon we hadn't seen 100 times before release.
Good, because i plan on preordering one of these games. But i can't until i get more information on them so i know which one i want.
But will they be released for the N64?
@N64-ROX Of course not, but there will be a spin off called „Pokemon Sword & Shield Stadium“
@justin233 I hope they won't show starter evos before release
Fun fact, there was a contest to put your own art as a shirt in Sword and Shield overseas. The winner was found breaking the rules by plagiarizing gyarados artwork, so now there will be nothing. The shirt was even finished being programmed in too!
Sure, give us some more info, but not ALL the info. Keep us guessing, and let us see when the game comes out. Keep trailers for most of the pokemon for marketing purposes afterward.
Pokemon not showing up at E3 is pretty unthinkable. I think, if nothing else, we'll get a short trailer and release window. And hopefully a confirmation that they're compatible with the vouchers.
Pokémon stealing the E3 Direct means there would be less announcements in it and, given the presence of fellow anticipated title Animal Crossing Switch, makes the, er, Maker Direct a very good thing. Hopefully we'll get a proper Pokémon Direct before E3 as has already happened before, so other than the attention lingering on Animal Crossing for far too long, we'll be properly hyped by the time E3 hits.
After E3, after Switch mini press release by the end of the month
@vanYth omg that rox!
I'm going to take a gamble and hope that they don't reveal anything beyond the first route Pokemon, I kinda want to see how the game plays after all, but I'd prefer to not have the new Pokemon spoiled.
Probably after the E3 stuff I'm going to do my best to avoid everything Pokemon related.
Not sure if I should even watch the announcements they make. No matter what I am getting the game, so I think keeping the starter evolutions a secret for myself might be more rewarding when playing the game for the first time. Gonna be hard to avoid that kind of spoiler tho, the evolutions will be all over the place
It can’t see it not being at E3, it’s a perfect fit for a Treehouse segment.
@vanYth But I do like to know about the history behind the canceled Pokemon 64 game.
More info is always good. Sadly I'm not as excited about Pokemon as before (still a big fan of everything Pokemon though). I feel like Yo-kai Watch do some things better than Pokemon, and that's what bothers me. With all the money that Pokemon generates I expect the games to be a lot better than those of the competition.
I didn't even liked YW battle system the first time I tried it, but after some months I decided to give it a second try, just to fall in love with the games. Finished 1, 2, Blasters (awesome game), and couldn't finish 3 because my battery died. Lots of things to do in these games while you complete the story, and the post game is awesome too, with lots of quest and bosses to find and defeat. Pokemon has just been disappointing me in that regard for a long time now. The only thing that you can do after finishing the games is training for online battles, and those become repetitive as almost everyone uses the same team and strategy.
Obviously this is just my personal opinion. I've been a Pokemon fan since Red/Blue and that won't change anytime soon, so I hope for this games to be successful when they come out, but I guess it's better if I don't get my expectation too high.
I don't mind them showing off some info like what the other comments are suggesting (version legendaries, exclusive 'Mon, etc.), but I do agree that they shouldn't spoil too much this time around. I was hyped for Su/Mo and enjoyed them for the most part, but the glut of info before release was too much.
Closer to release, the real problem will likely be due to leakers who want their fifteen minutes of fame. Hopefully TPC cracks down more on that this time around.
Coro Coro will be sharing information after E3, so the information they share probably won't be new.
80% Chance of a Pokemon Direct in 1-3 weeks 😊
Can wait for this game. Got a Voucher with its name on it (if eligible). I’m torn between wanting to know more about this game & wanting to be surprised. Think i’ll check out the legendaries but I’ll try to avoid the starter evolutions and new Pokémon.
jUsT ShOW uS tHe COrGi PoKémOn aLrEAdY!!! lol
Let's do this! I am starved for info!
I don`t buy 60 Dollar games digitally, but if Nintendo offers some kind of pre-order bonus, I might. Games take longer to get here, so I really don`t wanna wait 1, 2 weeks to play this game. Come oon, Nintendo, GameFreak!
PS: I was sold on this game when they showed an actual Gym. I thought the Island Challenges were awful.
Literally starved for information, I’m just glad I found Duel Links, that was a much needed nostalgia distraction. I’m still surprised they went on complete drought with this games information. Guess they plan to bulls hype from June to launch.
@ummyeahnintendo That's why they shouldn't release them.
Just waiting to get information on the exclusives, I think sword will be more popular so I think I might be going shield unless sword just has way better exclusives. I do hope we get a ton of info at E3 though, although I also hope we don't see every new pokemon beforehand. Lastly I hope there is no demo to give less chances of the whole thing getting datamined like before.
