UK chart data is now in for the week ending 27th April, revealing that Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is still leading the way as Nintendo's best-selling game in the region this week.
PS4 exclusive Days Gone has debuted at number one, with the multi-format Mortal Kombat 11 entering the charts in second place. It's worth noting that Mortal Kombat's position is actually made up entirely of sales from PS4 and Xbox One, as the European physical version of the game isn't due to release on Switch until 10th May.
Yoshi's Crafted World has taken a bit of a tumble this week, dropping from 7th to 16th place.
Here's a look at this week's top twenty all formats chart (physical sales only):

Days Gone.
A good example for why I choose Nintendo over Sony everytime.
@Baart
Def your opinion, however you do have to appreciate how there are pretty diverse in their portfolio of games.
Just the same as I appreciate Nintendo with how many mature rated games is being allowed to come to the switch with the Mario games.
I love playing my games (MK11) on the go and then coming home and playing Mario cart with my kids. Everybody wins
@matt1040 I love the mix you can have too - I showed the missus the fact that I can be performing glory kills one minute in Doom and be jumping along and shooting brightly-coloured eggs at distant objects in Yoshi's Crafted World the next, to educate her on the fantastic contrast between mature and 'for everyone' content now available on the Switch. She wasn't interested though.
The European version of Mortal Kombat (Switch) isn't out yet? Why? Cue the game selling more poorly on the Switch and the devs blaming the consumers, again. "See! Switch owners don't want these sorts of games!"
Ok let’s be honest, Mario kart is a must have for the switch was my 1st game and I still play it even tho I get screwed dam there every race lol.
@Baart Haha. I needed a good laugh for Monday.
At this point, who the heck doesn't have mario kart on switch?
So, I'm curious about the ACTUAL physical sales numbers in the chart*... there are a lot of older, pre-Christmas games in that list including relatively ancient games like GTA V at number 11. So, despite the fact that GTA has already sold millions, the consumer preference moving to digital and widespread availability of S/H copies etc etc, is GTA V still shifting 1000s of new discs every week? Or, as a I suspect, did it shift a few 100, which wouldn't bode well for the newer releases below it like Yoshi..
*Usual caveats about comparing / extrapolating physical vs digital sales figures etc etc.
@MysticGengar Based on the numbers released last week by Nintendo, most don't own it yet. 16.69 mil copies of MK8D vs 34.74 mil Switch consoles sold

@matt1040
Do you mean Sony (Playstation)? Because IMO 90% of games released nowadays, are looking and feeling very similiar for my taste.
@MysticGengar I don't. I had it on Wii U and I can't really see myself buying it again, as much as I love it...
Impressive that SONY beat out the multiplatform. Reviews been mixed - Im waiting on a sale.
So glad to see Sekiro still up there (A GEM!)
3rd party old games on Switch a no show as usual. Hopefully MK11 will have a good showing on Switch.
Really need quality New 3rd party games on Switch so people start buying them in bigger numbers
@Baart Why is that? Asking honestly. Is it the mature games you aren't interested in for example. I have both PS4 and Switch but I am the opposite, the only games I buy on Switch are exclusives and Nintendo's games, everything else is bought on my PS4.
Mario Kart is too violent for kids. I mean the other MK.
@8bitforever I don't consider Days Gone mature. It's often the focus on (boy) puberty that steers me away from Sony.
Production values come second. On a surface level Sony's games all look amazing. Then I play them and it feels stuck in the 90's.
People: complain about Wii U to Switch ports
Also people: makes a Wii U port the best selling Switch game
Hmmmmmmmm....
@Agramonte You can't chart on a physical chart, if you didn't release it physically.
@Galarian_Lassie 3rd party rehash are not all digital.
And Nintendo quarterly last week show that 84% of games sold on Switch in FY2018 were 1st party. So most not buying them one way or the other.
Hopefully a few big games coming later on will sell well.
Unreadable on Android devices
@Agramonte So it's a coincidence that you're saying this the week after Dragon's Dogma, came out?
And technically we do have a Switch third party port on this chart, Crash NSane Trilogy (although sales come from X1, PS4, and Switch).
@Agramonte
"And Nintendo quarterly last week show that 84% of games sold on Switch in FY2018 (that includes the first 3 months of this year) were 1st party. "
That's what happens when Nintendo makes almost 90-100% of the revenue from their 1st party games vs 20-30% of revenue from 3rd party games.
MK11's retail launch sales are pretty bad - it sold 43%+ less than MKX's retail launch.
Fighting games are nearly as big in Europe as they are in the US, so an open world zombie game like Days Gone beating MK11 is not too surprising, but the decline from MKX is a bit of a shock.
Smash Bros Ultimate was able sell far more retail copies than its predecessors despite the immense rise in digital sales - I thought MK11 would be able to do the same.
@westman98 I think it’s impossible to use Smash as a comparative with MK 11.
But I think that an interesting point you make about Zombie games vs Fighting games.
@mousieone
Why not?? MK11 released on a considerably larger install base and received strong reviews (83 on Metacritic for MK11 - same score as MKX).
BTW I don't think Days Gone being a zombie game is what made it successful. I think it being an open world zombie game sold it.
Glad to see MK 11 high on that list, despite the many ignorant and undeserved pitchforking hate it received.
@westman98 well I should say using those numbers it’s impossible. For one, those numbers don’t include the all Switch physical sales due to the delay, and two MK 11 has a higher age rating which could make digital sale far more appealing. Of course, I don’t think MK 11 is hiding giant sales number somewhere, but it’s not truly comparative to Smash. I’d also like to point out Smash is not nearly as niche as MK 11.
I mean which one is grandma more likely to buy? That aside I do think the smaller hard drive and younger audience might be what’s helping Smash do so well physically.
@mousieone
Obviously MK11 won't come close to selling as much as Smash Bros Ultimate in raw numbers, but I at least expected to see some sales growth compared to MKX.
@westman98 yes but I was trying to point out those numbers are horrible for showing that. They are incomplete and the sales growth there might be digital.
@westman98 That is what you get when you end up with 30% of $15 niche digital indies and licensing on budget priced ports (With zero hope of making it up with sales volume)
30/20% of top selling 3rd party in a business with a 38% profit margin is actually great.
Why Sony only bother making a couple games a year and VALVE pretty much quit doing it all together.
@Galarian_Lassie I actually did not even remember about Dragon Dogma. And do not get me wrong, Not a Switch thing. Not like you see Assassin Creed 3 anywhere on the chart for PS4.
Lets see how Zodiac Age does.
@Agramonte
I mean, that's how Nintendo has been rolling for opearting- sell hardware off of the strength of their extremely successful first party software, and let any willing 3rd parties develop on the console.
The last time Nintendo tried to sell their hardware off of 3rd party software i.e. Gamecube and Wii U, things ended poorly.
@westman98 That is 100% true. I do not want Nintendo to change that (I want my Metroid, Zelda, Mario and Fire Emblem)
Just want enough sales to make sure "The Willing" keep coming back next year with something new. That is about it.
@Baart Not sure we are playing the same games. Games in the 90s didn't have any of the features of today's games at all. It's fine if you hate Sony, but their games aren't stuck in the 90s.
@8bitforever 'features'. That's the point more or less. I don't watch "[random country] got talent" because of the high production values or new 'features'.
That's not what makes games appealing to me.
@Baart By features I mean better controls, cloud saves, smarter A.I. Etc. Graphics are also important. I like older games but the newer games blow me away sometimes but as someone who grew up in the 80s I’m tired of the Indie and 2d games but I’ve just played them so much over my life. Everybody is different.
@8bitforever for sure. How you can not get tired and yawn when you see something like Days Gone is beyond me.
Cloud saves and better controls is exactly what you'll find in 2d games like the greats on Switch. Where are the better controls in 'strafe like a tank stuck in a 90s 3rd person shooter' Sony trite?
@Baart LOL, hey to each their own. But Cloud Saves were only introduced in Switch this year. They’ve been available on Sony consoles for years. And if you don’t like Days Gone that’s fine. But there is no way you will convince me that Indies are more enjoyable than current gen games, as I stated I have played them for too many years and want something new.
@8bitforever
Oh I agree with you on that.
On average I enjoy the non-indie games more. I do enjoy a lot of indies as well, always have. (:
