Reggie

Back in February, Reggie Fils-Aimé announced that he would be stepping down from his role as Nintendo of America President on 15th April. Time has raced by since then, as it so often does, and we've now reached that very day.

The first time we, as Nintendo fans, saw Reggie walk out onto the stage was during E3 2004. “My name is Reggie. I'm about kickin' ass, I'm about takin' names, and we're about makin' games", he said, instantly winning over a good number of excited fans who were eager to learn what was coming next from Nintendo. Who could forget an introduction like that?

We won't gush about what Reggie has done for Nintendo and for its fans too much here - we've already spoken about what he meant to Nintendo, the industry and more, and even shared a selection of his greatest moments on camera - but it's safe to say that he's become almost synonymous with the company over the last 15 years and it's sad to see him go.

Now, we move on to a new era with Doug Bowser at the helm. Aside from having perhaps the most perfect name possible for the role, Bowser has been shadowing Reggie since joining Nintendo in 2015 and seems like a natural fit for the job. It'll be interesting to see how - and if - things feel any different going forward, and how Bowser attempts to fill Reggie's much-adored shoes.

Update: He's also just opened his very own Twitter account. Make sure to go and give him a follow!
