My Time at Portia is only a couple of weeks away from launching on Switch. Luckily, Team17 has shared a brand new trailer to showcase what benefits you'll get for pre-ordering the game.
The pre-order bonus is called The Housewarming Gift Set, and it features some nice little items to kick start your new life in Portia. If you're the type who likes to get their hands on everything, you'll probably want to pick these up (especially the exclusive stuff):
- An Exclusive Outfit: Jacket and ripped jeans
- Exclusive Furniture: Lion with Wings Statue and the Cuckoo Station Clock which can be used to decorate your new home
- Consumable Items: Rainbow Jelly and Dried Beef
- Bag of Gold: 500 Gols to spend and get you started
If you're already convinced that you want the game and would love to get these extra goodies, too, you can pre-purchase it right now from the Nintendo Switch eShop. We recently took a trip to Team17 to play the game and share our thoughts - make sure to give our hands-on feature a read if you want to learn more.
Are you excited for this one? Let us know if you'll be pre-ordering in the comments below.

I'd rather wait a few months and get it half price. But I'll definitely get it at some point.
Lol at the 500 Gols typo.
Unless the currency is actually "Gol", but I doubt it when it's a bag of gold.
@Rhaoulos and then complain were is my bonus.
@RupeeClock It is Gols though, no typo 😅
@SwitchForce Yes. Where the hell is my bonus???
Nah, I couldn't care less about minor cosmetic bonuses like this.
And I can wait, thanks to my incredible willpower (AKA giant backlog).
I'm getting this regardless. Been one of my most hyped games this year and hopefully this will scratch that Fantasy Life itch for me.
Edit: Now, I'm hearing of this port's load times being problematic. In all honesty, I haven't seen much footage for this yet, but what I've seen of the Switch version still has me hyped regardless. If I can go to and fro between shrines in Breath of the Wild, go between the overworld and missions in Lego City Undercover, and even wait between matches in Dragon Ball FighterZ, then I don't see what makes My Time at Portia any different for me.
@Chimaj
That's a weird name for the currency then.
I mean, it looks exactly like a Qwerty keyboard typo.
There was a time where titles like this and Re:Legend were games I was looking forward to. But then they finally officially unveiled that Rune Factory 5 is a game being developed for the Switch, and these games disappeared from my radar. I'm sure Portia will be a fine game, but Rune Factory is in my opinion the best at being the type of game that these are.
@rupeeclock
Maybe they made a typo initially and thought it sounded cool, so they kept it!
@sunnymay
Reminds me of Final Fantasy's Gil currency.
@RupeeClock I think they pronounce it "gools" and not like "goals" as is closer to "gold"
I do want this game and I do want these goodies but those load times...
@peanutbuttercup all gaming systems have load time this isn't just a Switch problem. That's just being nitpicking.
@SwitchForce Have you watched some of the gameplay footage? I'm sorry but if I have time to get up, walk to my kitchen and poor myself a drink before the loading ends, it's too long for my tastes.
@peanutbuttercup and have you watched other system game play as well. If that is the only problem then there is more problem there besides the game loads.
I would recommend people avoid this port. The games performance is far from perfect and suffers from astronomical loading times. Additionally, the Switch port isn't an up to date build and does not include the latest updates/content.
You can find Switch gameplay on Youtube if you'd like to check it out for yourselves.
it has some charm to Animal Crossing and Story of Season/Harvest Moon. (which, isn't a bad thing to say the least.)
i'll probably pick this up.
@duffmmann I too enjoy Rune Factory/Harvest Moon games. At the very least Portia would scratch that itch while we wait. (Although I thought Stardew Valley would satiate me and it did not.)
RIP Harvest Moon / Rune Factory.
My Time at Portia, Re:Legend and Farm Folks will conquer Harvest Moon / Rune Factory.
@Linoshi the videos on YouTube are at least a week or two old so even if thts actually the game and not jus a pre alpha build the tSam has time to add stiff in and they even said tht it won't have all story content but it will get updated with it same day as llaunch or the next day
@Deathomen13 I would still tell everyone to avoid pre-ordering. Unless the developer can show actual Switch gameplay showing the port running sufficiently there is no reason why anyone should just take their word for it. The PC version is unnecessarily demanding, which gives further reason to be concerned about the switch port.
I watched some gameplay of the Switch-version on youtube and the loading-times looked horrible to be honest.
I hope there's a patch or something because 10 sec loadtime to ender a building is bad.
Sad to hear about the load times. I had high hopes for a 3d type Stardew experience.
Load times. Shmoad times. Psssssh.
Just give me the game!
Not a fan of exclusive content locked behind a pre-order. Unless it is a game in an established series I am familiar with, I have no reason to trust a game will meet my expectations with a pre-order. This just feels like a bribe to get people to buy the game before most reviews go out.
Ive been excited for this game since I saw it. Already bought it.
