Releasing in just two days' time on Nintendo Switch is Dawn of Survivors, an online-based zombie survival game that could turn out to be something of a steal thanks to its low price point.
The game is a survival of the fittest, with each player scavenging for resources in the wastelands of a zombie apocalypse. From decaying cities to dark forests, players must fight through hordes of zombies, raid other players’ sanctuaries, search for food, craft weapons and armour, and build shelters. You'll need to prepare quickly, too, because as soon as the sun rises, so do the dead.
Each player starts in the same boat, playing through early guided tasks to pick up standard supplies. From there, you're left to gather more resources and face off against the relentless danger; you need to plan and build your defenses, trade materials with other characters, and come up with the best ways to survive. You can get a decent head start by signing up your email when you first load the game, as you'll instantly receive a code to redeem a free starter pack of weapons and equipment.
Here's a feature list to tell you more about it:
Game Features:
SCAVENGE FOR RESOURCES - Scavenge the wastelands for resources. You’ll search for supplies and materials in this cruel, undead world. Everything can be used to help you survive.
MASSIVE, DYNAMIC WORLD -Explore massive city landscapes, abandoned labs, hidden crash sites, and dark forests. The dead are everywhere!
FIGHT HORDES OF ZOMBIES - Face a variety of countless zombies, each with their own abilities.
UNLOCK WEAPONS AND TOOLS - Unlock and craft a massive assortment of weapons and tools, from swords to automatic rifles.
PVP - Take on players from around the world. Raid their shelters for resources, but be ready to defend your own home. The fight to survive never ends.
We've had a quick go ourselves and feel that this could well be a winner - a $2 price point seems like a no-brainer (no pun intended) if you're at all interested in the genre. It's worth noting, too, that this is an online-only experience, with a subscription to Nintendo's Switch Online service required.
The game launches on 18th April and will be available directly from the Nintendo Switch eShop. Make sure to share your initial thoughts with us in the comments below.

at that price its probably worth a go!
BRAAAAINS.
By which I mean, I might well give this a go, seeing as the genre is oddly under-represented on the Switch.
I wonder if you can switch between 3rd person and the isometric view. Not a big fan of isometric view in my zombie games. Looks interesting. 2 bucks I'll give it a try.
2 bucks ain’t bad but I wanna wait to see if people will buy it cuz it sucks playing an online game by yourself lol
Also cuphead is out the same day soooo ya
The price is nice but is there an end-game? Do you just play until everyone dies? Is there a story? Etc.
The main thing I'm concerned with, will there be DLC? Especially the kind that might give players an advantage? That email bit has me a little worried about that as that would be a deal breaker for me.
It still sounds fun though and might try it out at this pricepoint.
The PVP portion sounds a lot like those mobile games that i never cared for. Will read a review of this.
"as you'll instantly receive a code to redeem a free starter pack of weapons and equipment."
Sound like a ftp mobile game really. If that's the case, £2 is a steal, but only for the devs.
I'll wait for reviews but it could be fun.
@HiphopGeek Yeah I'll buy it if you can go third person. Does anyone know if there is co-op as well?
No idea what to think of this yet but at least the low price point gives it the best chance to succeed as a multiplayer title. If it plays well and is microtransation-free then it's worth a shot. Will wait and see.
Isn't this a free to play mobile game?
Or a clone of one as I'm sure I've seen something similar on Android...
But at least they are asking for 2 bucks as opposed to the insane devs asking for 20 for a mobile port
@MagnaRoader As far as I can tell, it's a new game which is exclusive to the Switch. Probably plenty of similar games on mobile though.
The reason this is $2 is that they want only NSO subscribers to play.
This sounds like it’s business model has come from mobile origins and will probably included paid for content that will make this a ‘pay to win’ style of game that most mobile phone games are.
I like these survival pvp ideas but I’ll wait for a review as I don’t like the ‘pay to win’ business model as there are always individuals with more money than sense that will buy that £79 or $99 loot box just to be top of the leaderboard.
@LetsGoSwitch Why would they want that?
I don't know __'.'__/
To please Nintendo?
Edit: this website don't like faces does it
@BenAV yeah I guess it's new but there's like 20 similar android clones that look just like this one though. Hopefully this one isn't plagued with iaps
@MagnaRoader Yeah, that's the main thing. Some mobile games have perfectly good gameplay that will transition to dedicated gaming systems just fine, as long as they're treated like console games rather than mobile games. Deemo and VOEZ are good examples of that, with how the Switch releases are just a one-time purchase which gives you access to every song rather than being free-to-play like on mobile.
There is an FAQ: https://wistone.freshdesk.com/support/home
So you have to pie and wash you ingame too. You can also tame a dog. And on Facebook say said it's always online but you can play singleplayer or multiplayer. And there will be no micro transactions. But I dont know if you check screenshots from proxima on twitter you can see diamonds.

@LetsGoSwitch Haha, that's probably about the only potential benefit they'd get out of it being restricted to NSO users. For an online focused game (especially if there's microtransations which is yet to be determined), the bigger the player base they can reach, the better. I'd guess that the fact that they're charging money for it means either a) there aren't any microtransations or b) they're not confident that people will spend money on the microtransations and they're hedging their bets a bit. Hopefully the former but we'll see.
More campy or more scary/gory?
Looks like they threw a bunch of ideas in a blender with some zombies. I'll wait for the reviews. It looks interesting but it also gives me that mobile game vibe, especially at that price.
Day 1for me... easy buy.
Such dramatic music lol
Have you played the game? Can you explain the third person view? Is that only certain situations?
On the official site you can find much more screenshots:
https://www.us.wistone.com/dawn-of-survivors
Multiple camera views? Looked like behind the back 3rd person, over the shoulder shooting, and isometric base building and melee combat showcased...
If it runs at 60 fps like Paladins then it might be worth it, but I'd still wonder why it isn't free like Paladins...
Count me in! Seems nice.
Looks a lot like a cell shaded version of the mobile game Last Day on Earth which I really enjoyed.
For the price I honestly am fine even if it only lasts a few hours before I find any P2W or something else that I dislike. And it has zombies, so I'll get something out of it hah.
And as for taking a stance on the usual inflation of prices on Switch, I feel it is worth supporting for that low price alone.
Curious if the game has any kind of Co-op Play. Seem like it would be good for teamwork n such.
@dystome I wouldn't go so far as to say it's oddly under-represented. There's a whole litany of genres under-represented on Nintendo consoles, every generation.
In fact, I think the GCN was the last console to largely mirror the genre output of its competitors. Wii was close, but had too many "spin off" versions of games as opposed to carbon copies.
I wonder if we could team up heheh. Anyways, not into Zombie survival, but the gameplay may be very good that I will play it if they execute this game right to my liking.
@HiphopGeek Let me know if the POV can be switched. I'd prefer Over-The-Shoulder, too.
@TheVGMLover Will do.
@TheVGMLover
When you enter certain areas like cities, the cam changes from iso to over the shoulder cam.
@MagnaRoader You know that's the same thing I thought when I saw the footage. My friend has a mobile app that's essentially the same premise. However, I don't think its a clone.
I'd only be interested in this if i can play it offline. Online gaming where I live isn't an option.
Provided the framerates are better than what's shown, I'm down.
So does anyone know where I put the starter pack code in at? I've registered and all that already. The game note isn't clear
I just downloaded this game. It is basically just like all the mobile games of the same type. There is no real story to the game. But it does run well and it is fun if you like this type of game. Basically you travel to different locations farming materials to make everything you need kind of like an adult version of minecraft. Graphics are decent. I personally love these types of games. So for me it was well worth the 2 bucks. Hopefully it will get a decent amount of players so that the pvp feature will be fun. Definitely see many hours of gameplay in my future. I would definitely recommend this game to all switch owners looking for a fun way to kill some time.
A really great little game, and an absolute steal for £2
