Xenon Racer is speeding onto the Nintendo Switch tomorrow, bringing fast-paced, futuristic, arcade racing along for the ride. To celebrate, Soedesco has released a launch trailer.
Xenon Racer boasts sleek, futuristic car visuals made possible with Unreal Engine, with each design coming from the mind of Marcello Raeli - known for his work with brands such as Subaru, Ferrari and Koenigsegg. As shown in the trailer, you can customise your vehicles, too, with several different skins and performance-changing parts.
Each track features different requirements, so players need to figure out which car and which parts will be the best options to progress. Drifting and boosting are also pretty significant in this game; Xenon Racer's press release says that "they are absolutely essential to get top speeds on the leaderboards".
Speaking of the press release, here are some of the game's key features:
- Race at top speeds in electric vehicles boosted by Xenon gas
- Drift through the streets of major cities like Tokyo and Dubai in the year 2030
- Triumph in singleplayer, split-screen & online multiplayer championships
- Master your drifting skills, it’s essential to get the best times on the leaderboards
- Customise your car with tons of parts to create the ultimate racing vehicle
The game launches tomorrow both physically and digitally for $49.99 / £44.99.
Will you be burning rubber on the track tomorrow? Let us know down below.

I look forward to seeing how well it reviews. It certainly looks the part.
Curious about this game - I liked All Star Fruit Racing
DON'T BUY THIS GAME
Looks terrible on Switch, runs in both modes at 25fps max and it has a lot of pop-ins.
And don't worry, PS4 version runs bad too.

Thats NOT Switch footage.
Switch runs below 30fps at the moment. A day one patch is apparently coming to improve it - but nobody knows to what yet.
Drop £45 at your own peril!!
NL as bad as the eShop here allowing that to be shown insinuating its the Switch game.
Here's my take on the situation.... https://youtu.be/Q8YMvXM3F6U
Very intriguing. I think I can buy this game.
My F-Zero itch has long turned into a deep scar. Only a new F-Zero could ever heal me. This game won’t do it. Sad face.
@Erchitu Please wait for reviews - check my video how it runs on Switch.
@OorWullie me too! So I'll probably be heading over to Nintendo World Report tomorrow since they actually post e-shop reviews
@pbb76 that pop-in is horrendous on Switch, sheesh
@pbb76 They simply posted the launch trailer. The publisher/developer is the one to blame here, not Nintendo Life. it would be a different story if this was a review but it's not so calm yourself.
@pbb76 just seen the video. Not so bad after all, I wasn't expecting it to look like the trailer. Even the ps4 version is pretty different. Anyway I'm still playing Xenoblade Chronicles 2, which takes all of my video game time, so I can wait to see if it will be patched and how.
@Rob3008 Haha! I consider myself told... "calm yourself" lol... I said its insinuating its the Switch version, by being on a Nintendo website and promoting the Switch release. I'm just saying a helpful note "may not be representative of the Switch version" or something.
I'm trying to stop people wasting a LOT of money, so anything I can do to help that, I will.
For £44 it needs to be good 🤞
@pbb76
lol that pop in though
@Stargazer Yea, absolutely awful. As bad as V-Rally 4, but somehow more distracting!
I'll only buy it if it runs at 60FPS in handheld mode.
@pbb76 you're so right man. Nintendo should definitely stop allowing that.
@pbb76 Cheers for the video. I'm not sure I've ever seen pop in as bad as that before. It's so bad Daytona USA puts it to shame. There are objects appearing as the car is actually passing them.
It's definitely not NL fault. They did nothing wrong putting up the launch trailer.
The performance is definitely a problem though. Needs better optimization on all consoles.
Visually switch version looks like a Vita game
@Rayquaza2510 Thank you for the links, I was considering buying it. Not anymore, it sucks!
I was so charred by GRIP that I was skeptical before reading the comments here. Ugh...
Yeah it's terrible , hated it
I nearly pre ordered last week but smelled a rat when couldn’t find any Switch footage. This looks truly awful. Nintendo has to sort out these PS4 footage and shots being used on eshop. I am getting more and more wary of buying switch games at the moment.
I wish they would stop with the fzero comparisons. It's ridge racer at best.
I knew the Switch version was gonna be bad, but not this bad. One of the 3dClouds guys is on YouTube claiming the Switch version looks great! Hah!
I’m doing this on my Scorpio. 4K, 60fps all day. If the Switch version runs well, I’ll double dip. I did it for FighterZ, I’ll do it again
Edit: just saw the Switch version in motion... ummm, no thanks. Yikes!
Real spiffy looking tracks I must say!
All I can think of when I see the title is the Disney channel movie with the stupid future language.
Yes definitely buying this day one, wish Fast RMX got a physical release as well but this will do until then.
Ok so firstly, apart from the car models the game looks pretty bad.
Secondly they shouldnt be allowed to put screenshots on the game page when they clearly arent from that version. That cant be legal right?
Ehh, im just disappointed. $80 for this garbage. Stay faaaar away people.
So I've played a few races now, there is a little bit to like here. It's definitely more RR than anything else. I get better results when I just flaw it and use the handbrake. I'm actually enjoying it more in handheld mode, just wish it looked a bit better when docked. Some of the backgrounds are very ordinary. I don't think it's worth full price though, wait for a sale.
I'm not one for caring about fps, but this really shouldn't be under 30. Come on devs, fix this!
FAST RMX has this beat, I only wish Fast had customization/some kind of career vehicular progression. Even just custom skins would add so much.
Right, I'll just play F1 World Grand Prix on the N64 again. Less pop-in and about the same consistency in frame rate.
@steve_1978 25FPS docked and handheld.
@Rayquaza2510 Oh wow... that looks horrid - and at 25fps to boot .
This goes to the $5 Steam sale list.
Xenon Racer suffers from poor frame rates and resolution
@twenty90seven Hopefully it'll get patch soon. It usually take many rants until the devs listen.
@pbb76
I would have expected the PS4 to look like the eShop video, but PS4 version looks more like what I'd expect from the Switch and the Switch version looks like a bad game release for the Wii U.
The eShop video doesn't even inspire F-Zero vibes to me and even at that quality it would be a pass.
Well since this game tank I guess all that's left for Switch to give Fast RMX a run for the money is Redout (which still hasn't release yet, dammit Nicalis where's the game?). Xenon Racer is a failure, Speed Racer won't ever get HD remastered, WipEout will never go multiplat, Extreme-G for some reason went non-existence, and Nintendo is too stupid to give us another F-Zero.
I'll wait for reviews and until then I'm not following a person I don't know who says it's bad and wants to generate clicks for his own YT-Channel...
Two things, firstly this is nothing like F-Zero, this is more akin to a classic SEGA arcade racer, secondly it runs like crap on the Switch surprise surprise. If you have a more powerful platform get it on that.
@Coxula Bad on switch , good on everythign else.
Having watched these videos of the switch version. The car just doesn’t look connected to the track environment, it looks as though it’s just floating. I think this is due to any lack of shadow or graphical representation of the tyres interaction with the tarmac.
The pop up is ridiculous, reminds me of the N64 days.
Certainly not a £45 game.
Maybe games like this is why the Wall Street journal are claiming that a switch pro is going to be announced this year.
LOL, looks like a PS2 game on Switch. This is truly blatant false advertising. Fast RMX is the only good looking 60 fps racing game you should buy.
@Rob3008 The problem is that they "simply" do a lot of stuff on this site without taking an extra second to take a little care and toss something up that says in small type under it "not confirmed as Switch footage" (it shows mulpti-plat at the end). Cuz at the end of the day, to the right of the video, there's that big old Amazon link NL gets click thru (or similar deal) revenue from. That contextualizes this differently to me.
everyone thinking of getting this game right now should watch this:
