Well that's a pretty random sale. Too bad I live in the U.S.
@oatmaster
Doesn't seem to be working for me?
Nintendo Life lists Super Mario Maker as £44.99, but Amazon UK lists it as £49.99.
If I apply BIGTHANKS at the checkout, it puts the final price at £44.99, not a desired £39.99 with their pre-order price guarantee.
@RupeeClock I re-read the post after going to order and realised that the prices that Nintendo Life are listing are with the BIGTHANKS code applied.
@RupeeClock Prices listed here include the £5 discount. Says as much in the article
Should probably make this a bit clearer...
BIGTHANKS does not work for Mario Party, says promo code cannot be applied.
Well no thanks then [angry]
@tillyboo aye, I got mixed up because the article saying it's off Switch games and consoles when actually it's off everything over £25 (t&cs notwithstanding).
Amazon UK has this offer every year that it comes first in some survey. Usually the offer is more generous - £10 off £50. Probably brexit costs are the reason it's less generous this year.
@oatmaster
Ah, fair enough.
I can also get Super Mario Maker from 365games for £44.99 without any promotion, that's a money-down pre-order though.
I don't need to pre-order the game right now it'll be a few months.
I don't think amazon's pricey delivery costs come into the equation? I would rather still buy from the high street than amazon anyway as I'm not saving much.
doesnt seem to work on everything then as the final fantasy x pre order it doesnt work for
[air quotes] deals [/air quotes]
It actually says not to be used with products not yet released. But if it works, it works ?
'excluding [...] Video Games that are not yet released'
So it's a scavenger hunt for the games that ARE applicable, and you HAVE to sign in with a full user account?
That's a lot of good catalogue exposure on one day for what I would assume to be a fairly small amount of actual discounts given out at the end of it.
Mario Maker 2 is £39.85 at base.com
I've had no problems cancelling pre-orders with them in the past.
EDIT: Scratch that. It's £38.95 at thegamecollection.net
@Pod no it's £5 off £25 for items sold directly by Amazon themselves (not marketplace sellers)
@jco83
Aight, gotcha. Thanks.
Then I least I also know that they can all be shipped to Denmark.
A deal is a deal, but these all seem like bad deals. Quite expensive compared to other online stores, if you do a little research. Most of these games are always on offer somewhere.
Yay affiliate links, does that mean we'll get the Japanese sales figures?
@RupeeClock I have Mario Maker 2 pre-ordered from Base. Only 40 quid there.
£34.99 for Donkey Kong or Mario Odyssey is a good deal. It's a thankless task trying to save people a few quid on this site.
@BensonUii You don't need the code for the deals - you can simply click 'redeem' on each product's store listing page 🙂
@Medic_alert thegamecollection.net are always worth checking. Loyalty points, quick delivery, and very low prices from time to time. I might not have even bought a Switch if it wasn't for them selling them for £240 last year, so I've got to give them a shout out too.
EDIT: £259.95 for a Neon Switch now which still outshines Amazon's Grey offer.
You can get those prices pretty much anywhere.
Reminds of the time Nintendo Life ran an article before the Switch’s release saying that you’d get £10 off if you bought Breath of the Wild and 1-2 Switch together off Amazon. What they didn’t tell you was that the deal actually applied to any number items as long as together the total exceeded £50. So they indirectly lied in that article and for what? To Inflate 1-2 Switch sales? Luckily was able to cancel and get a coloured joy on strap instead for £4.99 (cos the 39p rulers ran out cos of the deal!).
You do have to click the redeem button on the product information page or you won't get the discount. You can only use it once though
Must admit I would have brought two games but will stick with Mario Tennis Aces as I've wanted this for a while.
Was thinking of Tropical Freeze after selling off my Wii U, but I've gone with Octopath Traveller for a new experience. I'm on trial for Amazon Prime too so I get free One Day Delivery.
Amazon is so uncompetitive in prices for video games nowadays, even with £5 off I'm not interested. Applying the discount, the Skyrim price is the same I paid nearly a year ago.
@Bunkerneath
The £5 off only applies to games (or anything else) which is sold & dispatched by Amazon, so third party sellers are not included. Look for "Dispatched from and sold by Amazon. " on the page if you're unsure.
I've looked and its listed at £42.99 sold direcly by Amazon and then the £5 discount will be available.
Hope this helps!
@huyi
Subscribe to Amazon Prime and get unlimited next day delivery for free (including during a 1-month free trial). The other thing to remember for Prime users is that if you're not in a hurry then select saver delivery and you get a £1 or £2 digital discount code which can end up making Prime free during the year.
@huyi Amazon's 3-5 day delivery option is free on items over £20. But yeah these savings aren't much better than prices you'd get from other places.
£24.99 for Dark souls. Tempting.
@FredTheCat so subscribe to prime and pay £79 a year to save £5....
yeah amazing logic right there.
no thanks.
@Dogorilla their free delivery is slow and painful and they have messed up too many preorders for me to use them again for games anyway, i use game's site now works out fine for me, delivery is free and fast and doesn't take around a week to get to me like amazon does.
