Toby Fox, the creator of the award-winning indie hit RPG Undertale is bringing the first chapter of Deltarune - an expansion of the series, set in a different world - to the Nintendo Switch eShop on 28th February.
The announcement was made during the latest Nintendo Direct presentation in the form of a spoiler-free trailer filled with dogs. The first chapter will be available for free and allows players to create their own avatar, meet strange friends and jump into the darkness. To find out more, check out the official game site.

Can't wait for this. Tbh I didn't even know about it before the Direct, but apparently it's free on PC right now. Played through Undertale on Switch not too long ago and I can totally understand why it was so hyped.
I still think the trailer needs more dogs.

Played this back when it was first released and literally had no idea what to expect because Toby was so vague about. Loved every minute of it. It's a shame it's going to be a LONG time before the game is finished (as in, a few years).
Just finished downloading, since you can 'Pre-Order' it... even though it's free. This means it's sitting on my switch unplayable for another 2 weeks
Guess I'll finish my genocide run, then reset and get my good ending back...
That's neat, it was a fun little story with some great tunes. Dunno if I feel like playing it again though until the game is actually fully completed.
Now I'm happy I put off the PC version! This is immediately at the top of my priority list for 2/28
It's actually a stand alone, finished story, and the beginning of something way bigger.
The battle system is a lot more fun as well.

@derty You'll have a better appreciation of this if you've played Undertale, but the game is free and doesn't require you to own Undertale to play. Undertale is a fantastic game though and currently on sale on the eShop, so if you haven't played it you should really consider it. It's not a particularly long game though it does encourage replays in various ways I won't spoil. Buy it now and you can complete a runthrough or several by the time Deltarune Chapter One is available.

I've had it sitting around on my laptop since release without making more than a half-hour dent to it, so this will certainly help!

Wow! This is happening way sooner than I imagined! I have it on PC but can never find the time to sit down at my computer and take on the game, so it will be nice to have it on my Switch so I can chip away at it when I have some free moments.
I never played Undertale. I don't know what that game is or what this game is, but they had me at "first chapter is free"! I already have it pre-downloaded.
@Donald_M well that's great news and yes I own it physical but I have yet to kick it off D: still grinding octopath and I want to give undertale my full attention when I start it.
Preloading a free game is weird, but feels very Undertale.
