Rocket League's promised Friends List feature, which provides an easier way for players across multiple platforms to play together, has been given a solid release date. That special day is 19th February.
Developer Psyonix has put together the handy video up above to guide you through what you can expect to see; it's a feature that players have been wanting for quite a while, especially with the recent surge of interest for cross-platform play appearing everywhere you look.
The feature comes as part of a 'Friends Update', which will include the following goodies for the game:
- Friends List - The update will see the introduction of Friends List (previously referred to as RocketID), the long awaited Cross-Platform Party system. For the first time in Rocket League, players will be able to invite friends from other gaming platforms to Parties and Clubs. For more information, check out the blog post here.
- Season 9 Rewards and Start of Season 10 - Season 9 Competitive and Extra Mode Rewards will be available and the update will also signal the beginning of Competitive Season 10. Take a look at Season 9 Rewards here.
- Various Quality of Life Improvements
Psyonix recently shared a roadmap for spring 2019, promising this Friends Update and plenty more besides. If you love playing the game on Switch, things are looking as fun as ever.
Have you been waiting to play with your friends across other platforms? Will you be trying this out when the update goes live? Tell us down below.

After over a year of playing this game, I am still having fun. After grinding in an RPG, or stressing on a hard level in a platformer, it is cool to sit back and play a few matches. This game has held up over time, and it is fantastic that the developers continue to improve on it.
0:26 Hold on! They have yet to pay me my royalties! Where's my money Psyonix?!
Can't wait. Been waiting to party up with my brother and cousin on their xbox's from my PC for an eternity.
I hope it will go on sale on the switch when they introduce this next week 😊

Ditto here.
It's a shame they aren't adding cross platform trading, there's far too many greedy traders on the Switch. I would have loved to see items drop in value and watch everyone of them freak out about it.
really looking forward to this!
Awesome, finally! I've been waiting for this for a looong time!
