If you haven't seen the new reveal trailer for Pokémon Sword and Shield yet then, well... What are you doing here? Go and watch it immediately.

Now that you're up to speed, it's time to put on our detective (Pikachu) caps for a second. As is now clear, the new games are called Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield, with each of the game's logos even taking on the shapes of their namesakes. Here are the logos in question:

Now, feast your eyes on this tweet from Game Freak director, and producer of the two new games, Junichi Masuda, shared in October last year. The photograph was taken during a seemingly playful meeting at Nintendo of Europe, with Masuda holding office objects like a sword and shield. There's even a giant Hylian shield right behind him for goodness' sake.

Sure, it might just be a complete coincidence, but we'd be willing to bet that he was knowingly teasing everyone all along, knowing full well that nobody would be able to make the connection.
