Switch fighting fans will no doubt be delighted to hear that Arc System Works and PQube are pulling out all the stops with the release of Guilty Gear 20th Anniversary Edition, which lands on the Switch on 17th May.
The Anniversary Edition bundles up the original Guilty Gear and GUILTY GEAR XX ΛCORE PLUS R in one lovely package. The pack will be sold as a special Day One edition, which includes a personal letter from Guilty Gear creator Daisuke Ishiwatari and an artbook with unreleased works.
Both games included in the pack will also be available as separate digital versions for the Switch.
If all that wasn't enough, a limited edition of only 500 pieces in Europe will be made available with a rather snazzy Nintendo Switch pouch as shown below. More details on this pre-order will be revealed soon.
Let us know if you'll be picking up this guilty pleasure in May with a comment below.

Amazing game! I used to play GG on PC.
Hamster, Arc and Capcom really are bringing the classics of this genre! What next? MK Trilogy?
I have Guilty Gear XX Core Plus for Wii and Xrd Rev 2 for PS4. Always happy to see Guilty Gear being given love but I don't feel I've any reason to pick this latest Switch release up based on the 2 I already own on different systems. Maybe digitally if I see it on sale some point down the line.
The original for Neo Geo was a great game. I've never played it on any other platform.
Have guilty gear x on the Dreamcast amazing game always preferred this to blazblue as I can’t stand the voices on blazblue think I will pick this up
@Neofan99 No Guilty Gear games were released on Neo Geo. The original was a PS1 exclusive. The sequel, Guilty Gear X, came out on Dreamcast, PS2 and in the arcades, but on the Naomi platform, not Neo Geo.
Why not xrd rev2
@JoakimZ your right my bad. I was thinking about the fighting games last blade and last blade 2.
Who is doing preorders?? getting one of those 500 is gonna be tough!
Take my money!
yes great game!
@jobvd made on unreal 3 so requires some work
Couldn't they have thrown in one of the more recent iterations as well?
Two things, i hope those borders are not on the actual release. keep it 4:3 obviously but dont place fake borders in screen. secondly it looks terrible, its far superior on the wii and that's essentially what this is based off of. I love the game but i need to see a lot more.
@Pazuzu666 Wii version played on a CRT is fantastic. This looks quite ugly in comparison.
I was all for the pouch then I find out it is europe only😭. I still might have to pick this up. I wish the Switch was the go to machine for the FGC.
So where does one buy this now?
I heard that the physical copy of this will be coming to Asia, Europe, and Japan regions only with North America only getting them digital again. If this is true then wtf Arc System, why kept doing this? Why do you want us to hate you?

Great fighting game, Accent Core at the very least, never played the original. I might consider getting this collection.
They just love to hate NA but guess whom buys the most.
If the first game will be sold digitally alone, day one purchase. I miss play gg. I used play it on ps1. The sequences just don't had the same feeling.
@GrailUK Really hope MK Collection comes to the switch soon.
The Switch is really getting a pretty huge collection of fighting games at this point. I hope they don't over-saturate the genre.
Day 1...assuming the price is right.
