Anyone with a Nintendo Switch Online membership can look forward to playing three more classics on the NES service next week. As previously confirmed, Metroid, Mighty Bomb Jack and TwinBee will be added to the library. The arrival of these games on 14th November will increase the total number to 26.
Alongside the launch date announcement, Nintendo has also released a trailer showcasing each of these classics. After the release of these games, users can look forward to Wario's Woods, Ninja Gaiden and Adventures of Lolo in December. This will bolster the total number of games available on the NES Online service to 29 by the end of 2018.
Are you interested in playing any of these classics when they arrive next week? Have you purchased a Nintendo Switch Online membership? Tell us below.

underwhelming intensifies
Metroid is good, now where's Kirby's Adventure?
Wario’s Woods? What the heck is that?
@Audiobrainiac a pretty addictive little puzzle game, I played the SNES version a lot.
Edit: it involves falling bombs and objects, you move around as Toad to put the bombs where you need them. Like Tetris or Puyo Puyo in some ways. Wario is the villain.
-__- boring additions
Where is TETRIS.
I’ll probably get it by Smash launch. These NES games don’t really add any value to it for me, I thought I’d get it to play my games like Splatoon but turns out I just stopped playing the online games instead. Smash might be the one thing that gets me to subscribe for a bit.
@NOELQUEZON That would be something you'd have to make an arrangement with The Tetris Company for. Remember while the 3DS Virtual Console did get Tetris one time, it was only for a limited time only.
Right up there with Yakuza Kiwami 🙄
This is so lame, how bout start adding SNES and N64 games as well. Sorry to say this Ninty but NES games are becoming quite boring now especially when we can't even play with other people online. As much as I want to give chance to this service, this friend only online play feature is stupid and uninteresting.
It feels like it's going to take years for the service to be worth $20
@Audiobrainiac Its a fun puzzle game, also has a 2 player mode so that could be fun for online. Also notable as the final NES game Nintendo ever released in America.
Also maybe we’ll finally learn what those other SP edition games are. The Zelda SP was kind of underwhelming...but what the heck is the Mario 3 SP??
@imgrowinglegs I’m calling it now: Mario 3, but you always wear the Frog Suit.
I will find some Famicom games from Ebay because i have specific interesting Famicom titles.
Oh, i prefer Famicom cartridges than NES cartridges due to its size & color.
Btw, do you think Famicom & SNES games looks better on Retro Duo Portable (higher version) ?
meh, I like mighty bomb though.
I'm glad Smash attempts to connect you to the closest opponent. Hopefully, you can opt out of that, but I'm guessing for "random" matches you will not be able to. The only built-in circumvent will be if you are playing with a friend, who is explicitly in another specific area. I'm just guessing here, of course.
I like how Nintendo makes sure the NSO is active the same year Smash comes out. Banking(Mario Kart style) heavily on Smash drawing in subscribers.
I also wonder how long the WU online systems will be up, and active? Why pay $20, or more to play Smash, and Mario Kart 8, when you can do it for free on WU? Nintendo's competition with itself...
These games don't make a "value" for me. It's nice, I guess... If I get a Switch, I'm not too sure I'll subscribe. Depends on my internet. Enjoy, everybody!
Nothing about NES Games, but we been tripple-dipping or more often for those since the Wii.
Once we get Gamecube games, or at least SNES (really not into N64) - Im might be interrested.
Where is the Super Mario 3D Land WiiURemaster for Switch ?
Interesting. Maybe now's a good time to finally beat the original Metroid.
I'll probabaly only play metroid. I'm surprised they haven't announced the games coming in January yet. Hoping it's more than nes games once we ring in the New year
Little to no one cares...
What a joke. Lame online service, meet lame perks for lame online service.
So over the NES era of games. Let’s move up to the SNES. I’ve deleted this app. If the three additions were Contra: Alien Wars, A Link to the Past and Super Metroid, I’d be AMPED!!!
I'll play each of these for a few minutes. Metroid is too hard for me while the other two are okay, but not for long.
I have no idea what people are complaining about. The 3 games listed here are easily worth the 20€/12, that is, 1,66€. It should be fun to play Metroid again, and I have never played Mighty Bomb Jack or Twinbee.
Better than a punch in the face and it's been decades since I played Bombjack. But I wish Nintendo would pull their finger out with the planned "special offers". That's why I took a chance on the service and almost three months in there have still been none. I honestly forget that I paid for a subscription most of the time.
I forgot I even have Switch online.
I have no need of a subscription to play games online, I would however love to own these games much like I did with vc on 3ds. So remind me why those of us that have no intention at all of playing online are forced to pay $20 just to play the classic games we want. Heck out of the lineup now I'd really only play maybe 5 of the available games compared to a "build your own library of games" on VC. Oh and that dripfeed don't get me started over 200 games on VC and they restart from the bottom again.
Have they started doing the exclusive discounts for subscribers? I don’t know if I missed them doing this
Slightly off topic but does anybody else hope Capcom do a Ghosts n Goblins collection like their other collections?
Wake me up when they add Faxanadu!
I play the worlds smallest violin
@KoopaTheGamer
KoopaTheGamer's boss: I'm cutting your pay and benifits.
KoopaTheGamer: Thanks boss, anything else sir?
KoopaTheGamer's boss: Oh, and I'm sleeping with your wife too.
KoopaTheGamer: That's ok sir.
And to think they could have made the launch of their online service actually exciting with very little effort... How can they suck so much at marketing this offer.
@MongolRaider Good one.
But honestly, I don't think Switch Online is a bad deal for its price. People are expecting way too much. Now, I'm not saying that the service is perfect, because they can always do more and give us more free games.
I'm just being realistic and enjoying what we get. You can always ask for more and be negative about the service, or you could play the games they are offering you and enjoy your time with it.
Great additions, love wario woods a lot
Got the Japanese version of Kid Dracula on cartridge today for $32. Gameboy, not region locked. You know, another one of those great games that never came to Virtual Console and would be welcome to spice up the service. Since October sucked and all. They wanna stop piracy, but they don’t wanna sell or make all the neat games available. I’m sure I’d raise an eyebrow and have some excitement if some other favorites dropped in... you know. Stuff like Murasame Castle, Earthbound Beginnings because my Wii U is put away, some Zelda 2 and Mario 2, Kirby’s Adventure. Stuff people actually wanna play. Some Dragon Warrior and Final Fantasy, Castlevania 3 where are you? The super successful Netflix series is only based off of it, and it’s not on the NES Classic Edition. I mean. People are gonna say “quit being negative. Its better than nothing. Just enjoy it.” I’m sorry. I beat the Mario games, beat Zelda, tried some of the other games, and was immediately bored. Then Zelda Lazy Suspend Point Edition happened and I had to hide it below all the other games. Before I knew it, I was back to playing games I actually bought like MHGU. So. Yes. They need to really pour the sugar on the cereal with this. There are players like me who appreciate retro games and many franchises, and are the ones who pay Nintendo’s paychecks. Loyal 30+ year customers and gamers. And if its not us, its the parents. Put some AWESOME games on here. Make it a true NESflix. I don’t feel like buying anymore rare old cartridges.
@KoopaTheGamer
Yes enjoy your time with those rented games then after 5 years and $100 later "thanks for supporting the service on switch, we hope you enjoyed your experience so with the "new" switch you will have to start your collection of games from the start AGAIN and pay $50 per yer since we now know we can get away with it!".
I’ve heard good things about LoLo and Ninja Gaiden. I really don’t play any of these games tho. Playing a game online was pretty bad, so I only plan to play the games that are single player like Mario 3. Really wish Nintendo made their online a better overall experience
@GameOtaku Well, if they continue with the current model, there will be around 200 games to play for that 100$. By that time, I should've been able to play the games enough to be content with the service. If they're going to restart the service on new platform, I don't need to pay for it. It depends on what they're giving in exchange.
That said, considering this is a subscribtion based service, I think it's likely that it will continue on new generations. Heck, I think the next system will be some sort of "Switch 2", which could even run all of the games on Switch, including these. I guess we'll have to wait and see.
@KoopaTheGamer
Fool me once shame on you, twice shame on me. Wii VC could be rebought of Wiiu at a discount (some but not all), you could own the VC on wiiu and Wii but not on 3ds (you'd have to rebuy again) and so you say "oh the next system will let us transfer content? The PSP/Vita/PS3 had it done right. You bought it on one you own it on all and could redownload everything (maybe one or two exceptions).
@GameOtaku Yeah, that's true. However, if Nintendo is willing to make it a subscribtion based service, I think there is a chance that it will continue on future platforms. If Nintendo wanted to make the most money, I think VC would've been a better option.
@nintendobynature There is a rumour that we will get a Direct in November (more specifically this week!) so they will probably announced the January games there.
@GameOtaku Exactly, the reason Nintendo ditched the Virtual Console brand was because there would have been an outcry from Nintendo fans not being able to transfer over their older VC purchases to the Switch. Now they can make more money all over again with their legacy content, Nintendo are the meanest console makers out of the main 3. I love Nintendo but they need some fresh young blood in upper management.
Nintendo - give us [removed] SNES / N64 games! That's all everyone wants!
Mind your language - Octane
@BensonUii
So far, on my shopping list, my Famicom games are :
1. Chip n Dale 2
2. Saiyuki 2 (Whomp 'em in USA version)
3. B-Wings
4. Milk & Nuts
5. Flippull
6. Chuka Taisen
What comes after December though...
Does anyone really still care about this??? It's pathetic.
@KoopaTheGamer I think people want more than just Nes games, since most probably have played those to death already. Instead of the initial 20 Nes games, why not just start out with 15 Nes, 3 Snes, and 2 N64. Why do they all have to be just Nes? I see where Nintendo is going with this, though, like what Sega wanted to do years ago, but they're going at a very slow pace. I'd actually be willing to pay more for a service like that, but what they have now doesn't seem worth it to me, even for $20.
Forgot about this service.
The NES may have been my first ever console but outside of SMB3 and Probotector (Contra) I just can’t stick with NES games these days. Too archaic in look and feel.
The 'Special' edition of Zelda was a joke
'Zelda with Training Wheels', 'Zelda: Game Genie Edition' would have been far more appropriate and it was a waste of an update slot.
I get it, modern gamers are used to tutorials and hand-holding, but 10 year-old me clobbered the original Zelda without an Internet to help me. Modern kids can do these things, too, if we don't enable the shortcuts
So tired of the complaining every time there are news about Switch Online NES games.
I prefer to focus on the good things. I've never played Mighty Bomb Jack nor TwinBee (NES version), so it's like having the NES Mini on the go but the number of games we don't have in the dedicated miniconsole increases. Nice.
I've just joined the darkside and bought myself a PS4. Subscribed immediately to PS NOW, which just highlights what an absolute crock of sh*te Switch Online is.
To come in line with what PS NOW offers, Nintendo would need to offer titles such as Windwaker HD to compare to something like Red Dead on PS3, as well as countless Gamecube and N64 games etc. I'd happily pay £12+ for something similar on Switch.
@Moroboshi876 you'll play them for 5 minutes before trying something different and never playing them again.
@Not_Soos Until they start adding SNES games, Kirby's Adventure is the one I am waiting for.
I really want a good Kirby game on the Switch.
@Scottwood101 That will depend on how much interested are you in NES games. I am. The thing is I prefer playing Switch games, or classic games emulated on Switch like Arcade Archives, ACA Neo Geo, SNK 40th Anniversary Collection. Because that's why I bought a Switch, to play mostly new games. If the games playable with the subscription were SNES or N64 games I wouldn't change my mind. In short: if I want to play these games I don't mind they're NES ones.
Considering I've never owned a NES or any NES software until I bought online, I appreciate the additions. Am I doing it wrong?
Can't wait for Faxanadu to be announced. I can't seem to play that through enough times.
@bolt05 I agree, pretty underrated game on the system
@Scottwood101 Wind Waker HD, a replacement for Red Dead 2???
😂😂😂😂😂😂
In what planet does that logic even make sense?
The only thing that would remotely even come close to making up for it would be a remastered RDR1 and a port of GTA 5... For the Switch.
"Winder Waker HD" 😂😂😂😂
Just came to remember everyone that SNES games (or any other systems) are not coming. Nintendo has been very clear on it. Don't fool yourselves with unrealistic expectations
Were all gagging for SNES Games and clearly we all adore Nintendo otherwise we wouldn’t be members on this site - that said I’m really concerned how long they could drag these NES titles out before finally moving up to SNES - this is going to be a very bumpy ride.
Lastly this is slightly off topic, I’m really concerned the new Super Mario Bros Deluxe game coming in January won’t have online play? It would be typical of Nintendo that I could play a 30 year old game online (Super Mario bros. 3), then a brand new one where I can’t. I’ll be so very disappointed if I can’t play through that game in turn-taking style online just like the new NES Versions - makes it so much more fun.
@Balta666
I can't see how they could not bring snes games to Switch : they've been on the previous systems.
oh goody more nes games i can feel the excitement drain out of me
@KoopaTheGamer Yeah I am with you, its cheap and rather low key right now. You'd hope they will pick it up after xmas as we knew these games were coming, we don't know what comes in Jan. I am hoping they add the snes with a lump of games and then a few months of 3 a month and then we will see how good they will make this service.
@Razer he says RDR on ps3... comparing ps now to this...
but it isn't a fair comparison - Ps Now is far far far more expensive, this service is plus - plus is twice the price and doesn't keep the library of games for new subs, you get the games from the day you buy and you have to claim them every month. same as xbox live.
For me id rather not pay for all three... but have had both of others for years.
This for me is a similar value to the other two.
I don't play online much/at all so its all about the extras.
I hope Hamster get round to porting over the original Bomb Jack, that game was great.
@Reverandjames Exactly, come January it will be interesting as we don't know those games yet.
@Reverandjames Exactly. And they will continue to do so. The selling point here is the ability to play online. With Switch games. There are only a few, sure, but we pay the subscription to play those games, hoping to see more new games with online features in the future. NES games are an extra, so complaining is pointless and especially when this is what they said from the beginning.
I’ll play the original Metroid for the first time this way.
@Tibob I am saying as part of the NSO with 20$/year price tag. VC they also said it is not coming so...
but I have all of these games on my 3DS...
@KoopaTheGamer @GameOtaku I also believe Nintendo Switch Online presents good value for money, I agree with Koopa. I'm not a big fan of subscription services, but it's the world we live in now... Apple Music, Netflix, Amazon Prime, Spotify, PS+, Audible... people even pay a monthly subscription to have ready made meals sent to their house... If consumers are paying for this stuff, and driving the business model forward, then I fail to see how Nintendo are at fault for offering something a clear majority want. I'm just glad they kept it cheap!
@Agramonte
And Bulletstorm. Or elsewhere, Battlefield 1 and the OG Assassins Creed. Cheap ≠ good value.
Ridiculous strategy by Nintendo to release three NES games per month. For those who are interested in this Netflix-esque service, and not online multiplayer gaming, where is the incentive for them to sign-up now as opposed to 12 months from now when they have more choice (and perhaps more formats)?
@Reverandjames Yes, Nintendo owners that don't have other systems are spoiled, and complained about something that was logical, because for instance Xbox owners have been charged for online for years. And we accept it. People complained about paid DLC and now for paying online multiplayer. Things people got over in other platforms long ago. Nintendo does what others do, just later. And in the meantime spoils us, yes.
About NES games, well, I actually would prefer to pay for specific games I want, like I do with Hamster releases. Because this way I know they're mine. I own them. I'll be able to play them forever at least. Subscription related contents Netflix-style are there while they want them to be.
But anyway I wasn't a Virtual Console user. I just have a couple games just because there wasn't a way to own the original format without winning the lottery (GBC Shantae).
I respect and understand people who want to pay 5 or more for games they could easily have in not so expensive original Nintendo systems, but they just should accept that things change and Nintendo has decided to abandon that way of profiting with its legacy.
After all, I don't think anyone bought the Switch for the future and never confirmed VC.
Really enjoying NES online,have well over 200 friends on my friend list but no one seems to be playing it.
Very frustrating.
The NES games that are released for the online subscription service are mostly the ones that I haven't even heard of... To me, it borders on atrocity that Nintendo has only been focusing on NES games given the power potential of Switch. I still have my Wii VC, and at this rate, the assortment of retro games on Nintendo Switch will never attain that level even when it reaches retirement. Nintendo should focus on publishing GC games first, followed by N64 and then going down the generations. Or I would rather prefer having one game per week released for each console instead of three for NES.
@Moroboshi876 Saying you own those games and will be able to play them "forever" is a fallacy. We're talking digital downloads. If your console breaks after the online store is taken down, or after a game's license is through (see: Scott Pilgrim on PS3), tough luck. And given how much VC games used to cost, Switch Online subscribers taking advantage of the family group option are paying less per year than you paid for each of those VC games.
I think Switch Online is underwhelming at best, won't argue that. But I vastly prefer such a cheap subscription, if the library keeps expanding, than having to keep buying overpriced old games individually. Or than having to pay significantly more on a monthly basis to get access to the stuff PS+ churns out each month.
Not interested in boring NES game. Thats why haven't sign up the service yet. If they put in SNES title, I will bite immediately.
@Mgene15 yep ur this generation of kids.can't appreciate the games that started gaming and games that saved video games
I am subscribed but I would also like to be able to purchase the classic games I actually want instead of just waiting for them to be added to a subscription. People acting as though digital downloads ran into a lot of problems, especially using the whole Scott Pilgrim situation, are missing the point. That rarely rarely ever happens.
It's nobody's business but me and Nintendo's how much I am willing to pay to play games.
Also to the people acting like NES games are still amazing, well some of them are fun but most people have already played them all.
@ricklongo I never said I prefer this netflix-esque service. I don't. I want to have the games. But I won't complain for whatever comes with a service that with a family plan and the right country's eShop costs less than 5 euros per year.
I understand what you say, but once you have a digital game, unless your console is broken (and I don't plan it to be broken), you can always play it. I have on Xbox 360 games that are not available anymore, but you can keep playing them. Scott Pilgrim, Out Run Online Arcade... too bad I didn't buy The Simpsons Arcade Game. It's not available anymore.
But even if your console is broken those downloads are linked to your account, at least in Xbox. There are even workarounds in case you delete them and want to redownload them.
TBH, I find it odd Metroid was not there since day one.
I have so many good current games to get through that I don’t want to play these old games that I’ve seen over and over. I think Nintendo missed the mark with this service. I’ll take my cloud saves and playing online but not this.
Never heard of Mighty Bomb Jack and TwinBee. And I really don't care. Wake me up when they stop giving us boring old NES games
@Audiobrainiac A sereis of games that America got instead of Puyo Puyo. This is also comparable to certain NeoGeo games as well as Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine.
@Moroboshi876
I actually did buy my switch with the VC in mind as my biggest reason to own one.
this. kinda. sucks.
@GameOtaku OK, but it was just your assumption, and many others'. Just like that of "there will be SNES games at some point in the online service". You have to admit it. They never said it would arrive.
@Moroboshi876 That's right, and you can still digitally download games which are no longer available for purchase on PS3, provided you bought them originally, or move your account to another PS3 console if yours breaks and download them there. I have Scott Pilgrim and the Simpsons, I missed the chance with OutRun 2 sadly...
@Mgene15 Boring? Mighty Bomb Jack is whatever, but Metroid and Twinbee are awesome.
@GameOtaku Nintendo really should have had an accounts system back in the Wii days. I bought a lot of VC software and those games are now tied to an old console I have stored somewhere, which was already exhibiting screen artifacts when I stopped using it. If they had carried that brand forward, with each new console allowing you to keep and download your digital retro purchases, I would have almost certainly bought a Switch.
I realise they were under no obligation to develop such a service, but it is that type of consumer friendly approach that really adds value to a new system for me. While PS3 purchases are mostly also tied to that console (and the PSP / Vita for PS1 classics), as you mention the games bought over there are still easily accessible on another PS3 console due to the accounts system.
I did buy the Nintendo 'mini' consoles though, partly for having a nice coherent collection of plug and play classic games at 60Hz.
@countzero that would be great. Wouldn't mind star tropics being revealed but other than that, bring me new systems on the online service.
@nmanifold
In fact, I'd even add that if not for their usual stellar 1st party offerings (Mario, Zelda, Pokémon, Smash Bros & co), Nintendo would have went the same way Sega did. From a consumer standpoint (in Canada, at least), they have the priciest console out there, their accessories are the priciest as well, multi-platform games usually cost more on their platform than anywhere else... and many games on their platforms never drop in price, even after years of being released.
And let's not forget the tendency they generally have in making customers buy the same games over and over again on any new platform they release. I think they were planning on a VC for the Switch and making people buy their games all over again if they wanted to play them on that new platform, but decided against that and took a different approach.
While the Switch is a nice console (I love mine, really), it's also the console that requires the most investment in money from a gamer to play on. In terms of value for your money, all other consoles out there are beating it, hands down.
But then, the Switch is both a portable and home-console, which others can't offer.
Just needs Kirby now and we're complete on the NES titles. Next, bring the SNES titles and add some new features to the Switch Online to make it more worth the £20 a year
@KoopaTheGamer
Love how you can definitively state the value of games you admit to having not played in the same breath.
@Tsusasi lol if u say so everything always sucks when it first comes out.next year during this time it will be banging just some facts
Three games? Awesome. At this rate, online service will be worth subscribing to in five years or so.
@BLD I've played Metroid and enjoyed it. Sure, it's a bit dated, but a solid game nonetheless. I've heard good things about Twinbee, but I have no idea about Mighty Bomb Jack.
I think it's great that this has new experiences for me, while also having those classics that I know I like. I think new experiences give it value, even if the games may not be for me.
@Slim1999 So... I'm going to help you out here. Unless you have a time machine, literally everything you said is NOT a fact... including the whole 'everything sucks at 1st' opinion that you have.
O.P.I.N.I.O.N.
On a side note - how's that grammar/literacy thing working out for you though?
@3rdParty I get pretty awesome free games from the other companies. The games are a far better value. They really are. Far better than the triple/quadruple dip offerings that Nintendo is foisting on people who have already purchased them... and then patting themselves on the back for offering as a perk. Also, Nintendo has cloud saves behind a paywall. That's just greedy and ignorant and anti-consumer.
@KoopaTheGamer Lol. Ok. I guess we value things differently. Especially when so many people already own these games in one form or another.
@3rdParty Sony biggest recent 1st party games are not online focused though, Spider-man and God of War are single player games.
@3rdParty Perhaps, but I cant think of which of their biggest 1st party games have an online focus, more the 3rd party shooters I'd suppose. I think they are quite varied platforms for people who like online and offline gaming. I dont really play my PS4 online much at all, but perhaps that is atypical.
You are right you need PS plus for save back up to the cloud, but you can also back up to a USB without the service.
@3rdParty Yes, a lot of people enjoy online gaming, enough for mass markets. I have a PS4 due to the sheer range and variety of software available for a console, even though I'm not particularly into the online side (with the exception of From Software's games and Rocket League in the past).
Don't think we'll get 64 games any time soon because at some point they're going to sell the n64 classic mini console, and they'll want us to buy it. Very disappointed in the classic gaming for this console.
@Moroboshi876 lol I have had 3 switches and put my account on each one.o btw I still was able to redownload teenage mutant ninja turtles on my Wii.which was takin off the Wii shop years ago.
@Slim1999 But you bought it originally when it was available, right? That's what I mean. If only I could get The Simpsons Arcade Game somehow (legally)...
@Slim1999
Not a fact
@bolt05 If they added Faxanadu it might get me to finally subscribe! Unfortunately the games on here are not good enough yet to warrant this. I already have NES classic and SNES classic, and the titles not on NES classic i'm just not interested enough in to play.
Either you like the nes games or don't. I have the switch and Xbox one x. I like also playing retro and backwards compatible on both systems. Some nes games like ghosts and goblins are the most challenging to play. The best part about having these nes games on the switch is that you can play them anywhere.
@Slim1999
Nah, played the hell out of Metroid, the other 2 are lame. I’m of that generation
Not sure which of the 5 online features is worse, the dreadful app or the Nes online hub?
@3rdParty Good posts yet again, but they won't go down too well with some, the party line around here is flaming torches and pitchforks over the online service. I just don't care enough to even look at a pitchfork or light a torch.
FINALLY!!
I've been driving myself crazy checking daily for the update!
I know the new game cadence is monthly, but is it always gonna be around the middle of the month? If so, that's okay. I can wait till then if I know that's when it's gonna be going into it. The path that sucks is to think it's gonna be the front of the month and then drive yourself absolutely mad checking in futility for updates over and over.
I'm just glad to have a date for them now, frankly.
Cheers!
Ninja gaiden and metroid....let’s do this!
Once bubble bobble is on there then I will start a subscription
Yakuza Kiwami and Bulletstorm : Full Clip on PS4.
GRIP and Sniper Elite 4 on XBOX ONE.
NES ROMS on Switch... :/
This is what you get...
I know this is cheaper than PS Plus and XBL, but good lord these are underwhelming. Very disappointing. Still waiting on some SNES games at the very least, maybe Earthbound or Link to the Past. As is, this "service" really feels more like a troll under the bridge between myself and the online games that were sold to me with the understanding that I would be playing them online in the first place. Splatoon 2 doesn't even have dedicated servers yet, and we've already fractured the community with this pitiful twenty dollar tax.
I have more memories of Game Boy's Bomb Jack game, but this is neat, too. And I guess it's time to take Metroid off my 3DS memory card.
@Realnoize I agree on everything you said. I really don’t understand why they dropped the VC for this half-assed rubbish. Keep online payments seperate from VC, if people want to play online let them pay $15 a year, if people want to buy MARIO 64 let them pay $8 for it. They’ll keep the fans happy and actually make way more money (which they like because they are very greedy). But no, Nintendo never seem to listen to fans or have much common sense in these areas.
Even if they add SNES OR N64 games to this online service it still won’t excite me as you never own the game. But just having old dated NES games available is lazy and mean, we probably all own a NES classic mini, so what’s the point?!?
Nintendo specifically didnt go the VC route because they didnt want you transferring Wii and Wii U purchases, and knew it would cause a fire storm.
This way you could be purchasing the ROM for the third or fourth time.
We want more. At least make a package... like get 5 games for the price of 4.... something like that
Final Fantasy for NES? There are a few on the NES. How about Legend of Zelda II? Metroid will be fun.
@Razer use your eyes to read my comment again.
You'll notice I never mentioned Red Dead 2 and secondly, since when was RDR2 on the PS3?
I used Windwaker as a comparison because of how equally huge both games were on their respective platforms.
You've just embarrassed yourself I'm afraid.
Should be adding 3 titles a week, not 3 a month. Then again they should be adding SNES games as well but here we are
NES Metroid I've never played enough of to have a strong opinion of, but I'm just wondering if anyone will try the ENGAGE RIDLEY code on this version just for kicks.
Mighty Bomb Jack I mostly know from its GameCenter CX episodes and even with Suspend Play, I doubt I'd have enough patience to play it for long.
I've never played Twinbee, but I did play it's sequel, Stinger, and I just thought it was OK.
Really, if the service absolutely must stick to NES games, I'd rather they come out every week than every month.
@imgrowinglegs hopefully the SP version adds the ereader version levels.
@Angelic_Lapras_King There's is TETRIS available on NES. Nintendo plan does not have virtual console on switch. But is ONLY NES games.
I have been only playing single player games on my Switch so I have no incentive to pay for a online service...until S.S.B. Ultimate comes out.
@thesewoodenideas
Oooh, yeah! That would be great!
@NOELQUEZON And who owns the rights to the Tetris brand currently?
@Cobalt Remember, there is a pretty major price difference too.
@KoopaTheGamer
