If you've been playing Mutant Football League: Dynasty Edition on the Nintendo Switch since its release last week, you may or may not have noticed the brutal and bloody American football style game is missing a couple of teams.
This complete edition is meant to include all of the DLC as well as exclusive teams and arenas. Yet somehow, Digital Dreams Entertainment forgot to add in the Purple Mutant Eaters & Hexxon Oilers. The publisher and developer behind the game has now released an apology via Facebook and said this issue will be resolved for North Americans by 9th November, when the two teams are added to the game as free DLC. Unfortunately, Europe is going to have to wait just a little bit longer:
The folks at Digital Dreams Entertainment would like to extend our sincerest apologies to everyone who bought Mutant Football League: Dynasty Edition at retail for Nintendo Switch with the Purple Mutant Eaters & Hexxon Oilers teams missing from their game. We have been working hard to correct the issue and are happy to announce it has been resolved and the teams will be released as FREE DLC in the eShop to everyone in USA, Canadaand Mexico (Europe is going to take longer) on November 9 at3pm PST. Once again, we apologize and thank you for your understanding and patience.

You should change the title to read "free DLC" or "free update". There's a pretty major difference there. Just saying DLC implies it will be paid.
@Heavyarms55 I respectfully disagree. DLC is literally short for "Downloadable Content" and in no way implies it's paid. IAP would be paid....
@PLAYwithGregg I respectfully disagree right back. DLC has long been established with the connotation of being paid content. This is a trend going back for well over a decade. I would bet 100 dollars right now, that if we did a poll and asked readers if they hear about DLC do they assume it to be paid for free, most will assume it to be paid.

Dlc to me is a question mark. Look at all the free dlc we get from Nintendo and Capcom. Guess I’m a sheltered gamer...

Legitimate curious question as someone who doesn’t have this game or know that much about it...
As this game uses completely made up teams, how did people even know these two teams were a thing that was supposed to exist in the game but was missing? I’m not trying to be smart, I’m honestly curious mostly because I’m wondering if there’s some full built logic to the teams.
@KoiTenchi There's a PC version on steam where those two teams are timed exclusive teams from certain retailers.
The devs talk about it in a number of threads.

@PLAYwithGregg you sir are 100% right. DLC is and can be free. Arguably should be free. It’s clear what it means and what it is short for. Money is not implied or inferred.
@Heavyarms55 I respectfully disagree. Hollow Knight and Slime San was labelled as DLC but was all free of charge.

If you check the article you’ll see the long history of this term and why it has come to mean what it means.
DLC can indeed be free, but it has clear implications of cost unless otherwise stated.
IAP just isn’t a term I’ve seen used in console or PC gaming.
