Publisher The Arcade Crew and developer Joymasher have revealed that Blazing Chrome will be running and gunning its way to Switch early next year.
This retro-inspired co-op battle to save Earth has been treated to a new gameplay clip (up above), giving us a glimpse of the devastated environments awaiting players ready to fight for a brighter, less mechanically-dominated future. You'll need a steady aim for this one as you work your way through a war zone, utilising tide-changing power-ups, powerful exosuits, and an arsenal of futuristic weaponry to stay alive on the battlefield.
The game serves as a throwback to "the golden days" of side-scrolling shooters, with modern touches hoping to ensure its gameplay feels as precise as it does authentic to the titles that inspired it. Players can tear through six different stages filled with deadly, bullet-spewing AI as either Mavra - a lone human resistance fighter - or the rebellious robotic insurgent Doyle.
Blazing Chrome just so happens to be one of the games that has partnered up with Travis Strikes Again: No More Heroes, with a t-shirt design appearing in the game. You can see a quick preview of this shirt below.
We'll make sure to keep an eye out for any future release date announcements for this one but, until then, why not let us know your thoughts with a comment or two below.

Yep, its that sequel to Mega Probotector you never knew you wanted. I am a big fan of Joymasher's previous NES inspired games (Oniken and Odalus) and have been pestering the dev to push his work to the Switch. Very happy to see this happen!
This is pure GOLD !
Thank you Joy Masher for the awesome job !
The feeling is LIT !
Already love it !
How did the review NOT mention CONTRA like 50 times?!? Even the theme sounded like a slighty re-arrangement of CONTRA's brilliant theme. Anywho, YES YES & YES ... looks brilliant.
The composer for this game is the very talented Dominic Ninmark. He's also the composer of the OST to Rival Megagun that's coming out for the Switch the 29th.
Hmm..it looks good, yes, but what’s its weakness? So many of these homage games don’t get the same polish to gameplay as the graphics
OH MY GOD (throws money at screen).
Ok wasn’t expecting that! Looks like awesome retroness. Contra III is one of the main reasons my WiiU gamepad remains charged!
This game looks better than most contra games!
There are so many mashups I can see in there with Contra being the easiest inspiration. Where is the wish list button, quick?!
I only have one thing to say: Day 1
I had a great time with Oniken. I've only gotten to sample Odallus so far, but plan to play it properly soon. I like Joymasher's style and execution, so I've been periodically checking info on Blazing Chrome since I found out about it. I was hoping they'd manage a release this year, but it's nice to finally have an update after some time. Also good that they expanded to Switch for those that prefer it. I love the gameplay style they're going for here and the sprite work is also very appealing to me. The Space Harrier-style section is new to me, so that's an interesting development. I'm excited for this one.
This looks great Gunstar Heroes and Contra mixed together my perfect game
Joymasher's titles are...well...a joy to play! Loved both Oniken and Odallus. Can't wait for this and "Moon Raider"!
oh look, a pixelated 2D side-scroller. That is totally original, unique, and unheard of on modern platforms
Contra to the core. Definitely day one purchase for me.
I'm waiting for this excellent (hopefully) game since months. I hope it's Joymashers best release, cause the other games were awesome too.
The Hard Corps 2 I never knew I wanted (especially since I've never been able to beat the first)
Why am I only hearing about this now??
My credit card number is.....
I am impressed by this game. The team behind the title knows how to make it feels and plays like a genuine 16bits hit (with 16/9 ratio).
Well im really curious about this one, got the contra feel I love
@Shiryu
Thanks! I'm happy too. This looks great.
The last boss is Google Chrome.
Hope it’s not too much money, but it looks really fun
Super Probotector 2.
Looking good!
Boy does that reek of contra!
@Shiryu Oniken dev? Sold.
WOW. Looks amazing!
This game looks Awsome! only watched 4 seconds and i was hooked.
I thought for a second it was Contra, even the level design looks like a complete replication of Contra's levels which I am a fan of Contra so I probably would like this but I couldn't help to think I would have loved to got a new Contra on the 3DS I remember there was a mention of it at one time and then that fell off the face of the earth I guess .
Hopefully we get a physical release! Love a good ol' run and gun! Music sounds great too. Also, gonna be rocking the Hyper Light Drifter shirt for Travis
1000000000000000000000000000000000000000% yESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS. This looks incredible.
Looks effin' RAD. Will buy.
Looks pretty cool.
I must say- the music sounds terrific and the gameplay definitely looks the style game I played extensively as a young boy.
BRING IT ON!
