Japanese chart figures are in for 15th - 21st October, revealing that Super Mario Party has held onto to its second place position, only losing out to the still-new Call of Duty: Black Ops IIII.

There are some Switch newcomers entering the chart too, such as Dark Souls: Remastered which secured a fourth-place spot in its opening week, and Crash Bandicoot N. Didn’t know CoD was big in Japan.
@Quarth Yeah, that surprises me as well. Glad SMP seems to be received well.
Wow didn't realize Sega was publishing the Switch port of Crash N.Sane Trilogy in Japan. Would be awesome to see a Sonic and Crash team-up game.
@retro_player_22 Sega publishing a once Sony mascot on a Nintendo machine! My old brain cannot fathom this.
why does it take a full day to get this info up, it comes out Wednesday @ 14:00 every wk , https://www.4gamer.net/words/004/W00456/
Wow, Call of Duty selling almost 100k week two in Japan is pretty damn impressive!
Call of Duty?!
Call of Duty?!?!?!
Et tu, Japan?
Where are the NPD charts for September? NL you're slacking off.
(NO Comment again. You already know what is my feeling to see this news)
@Anti-Matter , Switch dominate Japan ? Sony is dead ? Japan today, the world tomorrow ?
I know right ?
Call of Duty 15 vs Mario Party 11
Good times.
@Anti-Matter yea japanease gamers are the worst. They only like evil satanic games

Didn't realised that Soul Calibur series is so unpopular in Japan. How its still carry on? Just 24k debut is not so good. (Soul Calibur V sold 33k at first week). It would sell more on Switch (SC2 sold 1,5 million just on GC)
It sells slightly better in US but not as much as you would expect from such a well known title.
@Anti-Matter Then don’t comment at all. We know you don’t like this kind of games, but others do and there’s nothing wrong with that. I sympathize with you sometimes, but reading about your views on violent games is tiresome. You enjoy the games you enjoy, others enjoy what they enjoy.
I for one am currently enjoying number four on the list, Dark Souls. Great game!
great news for mario party! hopfully it can warrant enough demand for dlc, because that game so desperately needs it
Ouch, all around. SoulCalibur V sold 34,786. They still going backwards. Orochi4 is gone on Switch, and all the hype for old ports fizzled. Not even near PS4 numbers. Time for same launch dates on Switch.
DarkSouls Remastered
PS4: 71,739
NSW: 14,646
Crash
PS4: 30,384
NSW: 5,217
I don't understand COD Doing that well. But 3rd big game from the West that has done well in Japan in a row - so will take it 👍
Hopefully RD2 will be up there also - Hit 97 Metacritic today.
@Agramonte Im fairly certain if Crash released in Japan on Switch at the Same time it would have fared better. Same with just Dark Souls in general.
But I suppose thats the downside of an underpowered system. You get stuff late and it spirals down leaving only the real systems in the race.
@Agramonte 24k for SCVI is pretty abysmal....but then you realize it's #3 on the list. Is it doing badly, or doing great in a market that just doesn't buy games anymore?
Or does this just mean that digital is now fully dominant? These charts don't include digital IIRC.
@BensonUii Not sure that means much. For Honor led the charts in Japan for a while, then was never heard of again and is pretty DOA everywhere.
@Knuckles-Fajita Yeah probably. I'm in the belief that most Switch owners also have another system.
Sure a good chunk of Switch owners also waiting for Pokemon. That is 9,800 Yen if you also want the Ball. Only so much cash, especially if people already dropped 5,600 yen for MP.
@Knuckles-Fajita Of course, you don't need to chart in the race to make money hand over fist quietly in the background. So far the only publisher not pleased with the returns on their late Switch ventures is EA who pretends they are pleased by never acts on it.
@NEStalgia Well, the new Famitsu numbers seems to peg Digital sales still at around 30% in Japan for top games
https://gematsu.com/2018/10/spider-man-ps4-sold-95120-digital-copies-in-its-first-month-in-japan-and-more-digital-sales-numbers
Never underestimate the power of a certain mustachioed plumber. Even if it is a spinoff.
@NEStalgia
"So far the only publisher not pleased with the returns on their late Switch ventures is EA who pretends they are pleased by never acts on it"
yeah, and leaving Unravel 2 and Sea of Solitude off the Switch. What they have that makes the most sense for it.
🙄😫
@Anti-Matter If you are not going to make a comment just don't. Instead you pull the same crap over and over.
@Agramonte Well, I can't blame them. Did you buy Fe? It runs at like 20fps the whole time. It's abysmal. $10 wasted.
Cod beating spm badd
How come we always get this info for Japan, but never for north America ?
@SaturnHero Nintendo Life only post US numbers when Nintendo is winning in the US.
