Developer Studio Size Five Games and publisher Curve Digital have announced that The Swindle is making its way to Nintendo Switch next month.
Previously released on Wii U back in 2015, The Swindle is a "steampunk cybercrime caper about breaking into buildings, stealing oodles of cash, and hot-footing it from the police". Players need to platform their way across the game's artsy levels, making use of various lo-fi stealth mechanics to get their hands on the perfect loot.
Every building present in the game is randomly generated, so players will never carry out the same heist twice. Each area features patrolling robots, vigilant security cameras, and keen-eyed guards, all of which are intent on halting players in their search for some cheeky moolah. In between each mission, you're also able to modify your character with new skills, tools, and other "technological horrors".
We enjoyed our time with the game on Wii U, giving the game a very solid 7/10 and saying the following:
"The Swindle is another high quality download option on the Wii U eShop, offering a significant challenge for those that consider themselves to be gamers both sharp-witted and with fast reflexes. It's hugely clever, chaotic and funny, though there are downsides in the implementation of randomly generated stages and in some technical glitches and flaws. Despite some issues the premise, presentation, music and gameplay all work well together, making this a steal on the Wii U - just not the great heist it could have been."
The Swindle will launch on Nintendo Switch on 11th October for €14.99 / £14.99 / $14.99, with a 20% pre-purchase discount also available.
Will you be joining the heist?

Got it on Wii U then later on PS4 because of the performance issues on Wii U. It's actually one of my most played ps4 games. I might triple dip.
I played this on the ps4. I liked it a lot, and I am tempted to double dip on this game, but I don't have the time to play through it again. There are so many good games coming out.
I really enjoyed this, but won’t be double dipping.
This looks fun, but there are just too many games right now. If this drops to a good sale price ($3.99 or so) I would consider it down the line
This is one of my all time favorite games. So happy it's coming. My list of things I need on Switch is down to two: FTL and Xcom.
Good game back in the WiiU days.
A very good game, bugged as hell on Wii U. It's randomness can spoil a bit of fun for some but I greatly enjoyed it.
I was a big fan of Curve since Hydroventure on WiiWare and I got all their Wii U games as well. The Swindle could have been another one of their highlights, up there with Hydroventure, Stealth Inc. 2, and The Swapper, but the frustrating crashes made it feel like an unfinished/rushed product. They never updated it! For me it marked something of a downfall for Curve because I found a number of irritating bugs in their later Wii U games Nova-111 and Pumping BMX+ as well. Some of them were fixed, others not. But The Swindle was never fixed unfortunately.
Aching with both style and substance, The Swindle is an utterly essential pick up for platform fans yet to play it elsewhere. As you can probably tell, I loved this one on PS4.
@PhilKenSebben Ah, a gentleman of exquisite taste I see! Indeed, FTL and XCOM simply must come to Switch. Though for platform aficionados, so do Spelunky and Guacamelee! 2.
@The_Pixel_King My lord. I forgot Spelunky. For shame.
Yaaaay!!!
Pleased to see this coming to Switch, I've been putting off buying it on PC in hopes that it would.
I greatly enjoyed The Swindle on Vita and PS4, despite its idiosyncrasies. The handling is certainly “unique”, to put it charitably — and the difficulty spike at the very end feels cheap — but the constant risk/reward decisions (and the randomized layouts) made the experience compelling, for me.
I’m surprised that it’s being ported, since the developer seems to have decided to not update or tweak the game further. On balance, I suppose it was an easy decision to generate additional sales on another platform.
Should be a very good fit for the Switch. Hope it runs well enough.
I hope some reviewers get a code before release. Is should perform fine on switch but who knows if it will.
It's a good little game who worth 5$ MAX. Wait for a discount.
This is one of the games I have on Wii U that I've been hoping would come over to Switch. I've played the final level a bunch, but have yet to actually beat it. The Wii U version crashes a lot.
Swindle sounds like what you'd get if you crossed a Switch with a Kindle.
@PhilKenSebben @The_Pixel_King Couldn't agree more guys - Indies on Switch / the Switch itself will be incomplete until we get Spelunky. And Spelunky 2 of course which is shaping up very nicely.
But this game does look very nice.
@brunojenso I fully agree. Spelunky and The Swindle (and Xcom, and Civ... man the Vita had some great stuff) is why my Vita still sits next to my bed, fully charged. Well, those and the occasional level or two of EDF.
@PhilKenSebben Vita still has plenty of space in my heart - and many games I love. I still find the Switch a bit uncomfortable for long handheld sessions. Not a huge deal - but not ideal. Vita really is an ideal size.
@brunojenso It is, and so lightweight too. Cant fit my Switch in my pocket.
