A brand new trailer has been released for Pokémon: Let's Go, Pikachu! and Let's Go, Eevee!, giving players an extended look at certain areas of the game.
The opening second of the trailer gives us a detailed look at the game's updated map for the Kanto region. The map unsurprisingly follows the exact same structure present in the original Pokémon Red and Blue games, but a new lick of paint and a splattering of fan-favourite monsters being dotted around results in a lovely piece of artwork. You can check it out properly below.
Other small details reveal that Eevee will have a different appearance depending on its gender, with female Eevee adopting a heart shape on their tail in a similar fashion to female Pikachu. Elsewhere, spotlights are given to certain characters including your rival, Professor Oak, Brock, and Misty, we get a better look at some in-game Gyms and Pewter City's museum, and we're even treated to a quick look at battles and costume options for your prized monsters.
Oh, and then there's this:
A shorter English-language trailer has also been released, although slightly less content is shown.

Let's Go into debt come holiday
That map has made me even more excited for these games. Been looking forward to a relaxing jaunt through Kanto to revel in nostalgia. That Pikachu however, what on earth is going on there?!?
Excited! That map is really bringing me back 😁
That Pikachu, ieeeeuw
Silly
And it's sad there are no Sevii Islands like in the remakes.
With every new piece of news I start to hate these 2 more and more.
Waiting for the proper core game next year.
Well. Now I know how to get extra super popular with my nephew.
He's crazy about Go and Indigo League on Netflix and Eevee is his favorite pokémon. And his parents are unlikely to consider getting him a Switch of his own.
The pikachu with bangs lol
Hipster Pikachu
Okay, can we all at least agree that while the gameplay doesn't look all the impressive, the music on the other-hand is beautiful.
Also, I love Misty's new gym design. It really captures the whole mermaid/underwater aesthetic Misty goes for.
Wait, Pikachu has a Bangs ?
It must be it had a TyOver (Tyra Banks Make Over).
Looks great! Really excited for this, and kinda tempted to pre-order the Pokeball too.
@Rayquaza2510
Yeah, you're right.
Pokémon has always been a serious kind of franchise.
Nothing for kids or people who like cute things!
Oh man, the motion blur looks really good actually. I will probably buy it for my girlfriend and play it myself, but still a bit dissapointed about the lack of wild Pokémon battles.
USA Trailer
I’m really looking forward to this, I remember trading my old gameboy games for Pokemon Blue to a market trader for the American release because he had it 2 weeks earlier than the UK. So many good memories of Kanto region. I wonder what the version specific Pokemon will be or do they stick with the original Pokemon. With Pokemon Go transfer there may be no need for both copies.
Pikachu, how did they get enough hair to cut it like that anyway?
@Tiefseemiez I'm not against cute stuff, that "hair" just looks stupid (the not shown safari outfit on the other hand looks awesome).
I start to hate it more and more because of how simplified Pokémon has become so the next year core Pokémon game could be my last ever because of that.
X&Y started it slowly but you could ignore it, but Sun&Moon and their Ultra forms simplified the games and made them so much handholding that it hurts the game, and that while Pokémon never needed simplifying because it was as difficult you wanted it to be.
I have to say, this game looks awesome!
if this already looks this good, i cant wait fr the main game to be revealed. This one will definitely be in my collection.
@Tsurii Um...sorry for saying I'm not all the impressed with the gameplay? If you disagree that's fine but I don't see how I was being a smartass. What I mean is, I don't like how a good chunk of the game (the wild battles) have been simplified and that a bunch of trainers have had their pokemon levels heavily reduced. I guess it would have been more accurate if I said the battle system looked unimpressive rather than the gameplay itself.
@Rayquaza2510
The games are targeted to KIDS !
Don't expect it will be so Hardcore for Expert gamers.
And about Pikachu / Eevee hairstyle, you still can choose with No Hairstyle.
And those hairstyle are Very Subjective.
Maybe Meh for you, but Artistic / Cute for other peoples.
I can’t wait for this game.
@Anti-Matter
Good answer! Amen to that.
and even tho targeted for the young audience, i as an adult love it.
@Anti-Matter You didn't read my post.
All core Pokémon games are "kids" games, but they keep simplyfing the games more and more while kids even understand the older ones easy.
Son of a friend of mine loves Pokémon, his son is 9 and doesn't like newer games like Sun&Moon and their ultra forms because the older games he played gave more freedom and didn't treat you like an idiot, and he's not the first kid I heard saying that.
(And yes there are also kids that do like the newer games, but most of them didn't play the older ones)
I'm 27 now and when I played them as a kid I understood them just like any kid back then, they simplify kids game they don't need too because kids understand the older ones perfectly.
Maybe it's just that children and adults that played the older games do see the newer ones handhold too much, but not all of them hate it.
That aside, you say it's a kids game but most parents refuse to buy consoles and expensive games for their kids, they give them a cheap phone or tablet for crappy "free" games
(or buy a Sony system because their "friends" play Call of Crap)
Let's be real, this looks more like an upscaled 3DS game than a console game. You can't be really excited about that.
Actually, it looks exactly like Pokémon Sun upscaled on an emulator: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M5CFKKrSt24
So lazy.
Wooo, can't wait for this!
@BigKing 3ds wouldn't handle this well but the Switch can do way better than this.
However at E3 Gamefreak said the next year Pokémon game will utilize switch it's power to the fullest.
@Rayquaza2510
I also have Pokemon X, Sun & Ultra Moon.
The gameplay was Okay for me despite i wasn't a Huge fan of Pokemon.
We better wait the game until released so don't jump into conclusion before we got updated informations.
That pikachu with bangs...
The only time I've ever played a Pokemon game was for about an hour on a Gameboy Colour 18 years ago. It was fun and now as an adult I'm oddly really looking forward to this game.
@Nicolai
Say hello to Mohawk Pikachu.
I'm getting this and 2019, i have preordered both!
@Rayquaza2510 WAT. X and Y were the most barebones, easy entries in the franchise, and you're saying SuMo/USUM were the easy ones? Sure there was a tutorial phase that was longer than it needed to be, but the experience gained from battles with the exp.share on was lessened dramatically, they reintroduced the Black and White experience gain system that gave you less and less the stronger you were than your opponent, and they even gave "boss" Pokemon instant stat buffs, better AI, and specific tactics that would crush the player if they didn't have a clear strategy.
Even more excited for this game now.
I must be the odd one out with the takeaway of Eevee now having a gender tell (tail). Would this apply to all Eevees and if so, will other pokemon get a similar treatment?
@-Juice- in Sun&Moon they use the same exp system as in Black&White, but still even while I never grind my Pokemons were around level 60+ in B&W + B2&W2 when starting the League.
In Sun & Moon I ended with a level 60+ team too while in X&Y that was 70+ so that is true, however you do get a lucky egg very early on in Sun&Moon and Ultra games so I tried that in ultra games and ended with a level 60+ team with lv76 for the starter holding it.
Both games are easy, the difference is that you work around that EXP stuff with the options the game gives and I dislike Sun&Moon for weak content after the game + handholding (Ultra sequels did partly solve the weak content after the League btw)
Don't get me wrong, S&M did some good stuff like a great story but the cons weight more for me.
Bowl cut pikachu? That's just not right. I do like the map though.
right on that looks cool. With that being said. Do you see this engine this is running? For the next 5 games or something like that we will see this same engine. Not to say that is bad because I like the style.
@N8tiveT3ch Gamefreak said the game will get a huge graphical bump with the core game next year.
Let's hope that is true, switch do more than this especially because the leap between 3ds and Switch is huge.
@Rayquaza2510 I guess but we'll see.
Mullet or no buy.
The extra bonus that comes with all Poké Ball Plus that are sold for the launch day seems quite aMewsing. XD
That orchestrated music is lovely
@Rayquaza2510 I don't even know why your Pokemon would be so overleveled, considering I DID grind/take my time with every source of exp and came out of the league with my Pokemon at around 57-60
Why were you using the lucky egg if you wanted standard gameplay? Everyone knows the lucky egg gives you more experience and that starters gain experience faster than most Pokemon. The only way I can see you being level 70+ is if you're the type to use one of your Pokemon more than the others, which is weird because most people try to keep their team at an equal level and switch starting positions constantly.
Gen 7 has flaws, but those flaws (compared to past games) have nothing to do with a lack of standard difficulty or above. That flaw belongs to Gen 6.
@Tsurii And that little change has a lot of side effects. To train you'll need to catch everything that comes to you, which is just troublesome. Most people will skip that, and Gamefreak knows, that's why trainers are way easier too (and if you still have a tough time, just grab the second joycon and use 2 Pokémon against them). Then, about competitive battles, how are you going to EV train effectively? or check internal values before catching? Unless trainer battles respawn (besides the elite four), there's no way that yo can do that through normal battles.
There's other stuff I can't remember at the moment, but if you start linking eveything you'll see the bigger picture.
Looks really neat. I just still haven’t gotten used to the art style and rigid map design yet.
@Rayquaza2510 I don't really care about graphics in a Pokémon game, I just want the core gamplay intact and no hand holding (or a veteran/hard mode for that matter).
@LegendOfPokemon Because the art style is from 2013 and the rigid map is from 1996.
@Anti-Matter I can get onboard with mohawk /hair ruffled pikachu, the bangs look ridiculous though. Agree on your earlier post that I dislike games being 'dumbed down' and being made too hand holdy, and pokemon was already simple enough as is
That said, I mainly played Blue and Gold then fell off the pokemon radar, per the videogames at least. I'm tempted just cause it's Kanto rebuilt in 3D. Offhand the catching seems too simple, at minimum they should make it require some kind of effort to catch (pointing at the proper area, pokemon moving around, time limit), which it might have, from the trailers the pokeball always looked to fly to the center, but that might have just been pre-rendered video I suppose (fingers crossed that it involves some actual aiming, and not just a throwing motion).
But, since trainer battles are standard strategy battling, maybe the changed mechanic will help the game flow a lot faster (which IS needed in pokemon games to refresh them, methinks). It's something different at least. While pokemon is fun, the buildup to player v player battles in the standard pokemon is -very- time expensive, choosing a team then leveling them all to 100, essentially, which can take several hours, nothing to speak of trying to get good ev/iv/natures/stats etc.
I'd be down for another Pokemon Stadium type game, where it has fun multiplayer minigames, but is essentially a Pokemon battle simulator, choosing pre-leveled pokemon and just having at it per battling. Allows you to experiment and have much more variety without the time investment. Though I've seen some newer games improve this (some battle mode I saw made your pokemon team all be level 50, to allow you to engage in ~level/even battles with, again, less initial time commitment).
I'll probably wait for the price to dip, but I am getting more interested in the game in general, at least to check it out
@Rayquaza2510 About that, S&M story is terrible. It isn't about you (the main character), it is about Lillie and her troubled family. You're just there like a firefigher putting off fires. Your adventure is always diverted to what Lillie needs from you. For that matter, B&W story is way better because the story is about you, you're the hero of legend destined to awaken the legendary dragon. That's way better than being a smiling bodyguard IMHO.
Pre-ordered with the Pokeball! This game is going to be huge this November!
@-Juice- if you read my post you would know I said I only used lucky egg in Ultra S&M, before I never use it because I don't need it, I wanted to know the difference because without it I ended with 60+ team in S&M.
People play diffrently, I know someone who had difficulties with Pokémon Diamond when it came out (before the EXP share for all method) and he ended with a 50+ team at League.
Back then I played the games diffrently too, training the whole team is something I started to do since B&W because of the EXP system, in games before I just took 1 Pokémon and trained that one only (that's why in comparsion to that guy I always ended with a lv74/75 Infernape).
I never grind in Pokémon games before the story ends, I just play the game and except amulet coin or mega stones in newer games I never use other hold items (I don't use Z Crystals, it's OP and broken for me)
The EXP system in B&W and B2&W2 is the main reason why training a whole team makes more sense, and in latter games on 3DS they made it even easier because of EXP share for all system.
And if you do wonder what would happen if you train 1 Pokémon only in Y (I played X first and trained whole team) then here is your answer, a lv80+ starter is what you get for all the EXP you didn't share.
Same goes for Alpha Sapphire & Omega Ruby, replayed first with training the whole team and later with 1 starter, however Ruby & Sapphire are heavly unbalanced and the remakes even more, Blaziken is OP and those games are the only ones I know where without grinding or training the whole team you can end up just before or just after 3rd gym with a Blaziken already.
@Devlind I like the story of S&M, but I fully agree with you about her.
Only downside I see to the game is that mew can only be received from that joy con controller.
Although you can try to trade for one.
You know whats not beautiful? Auto 240p quality.
@Rayquaza2510 If the next Pokémon will utilize the Switch's power to the fullest, it will be something between Breath of the Wild and Xenoblade Chronicles. An open world filled with creatures en unexpected encounters.
It should be like what Monster Hunter World is compared to the Monster Hunter games on the 3DS.
The franchise has so much potential and you know they have the cash to make something truly epic, but they just don't seem to really care.
Confirmed touching of fluffy tail.
Yes yes but can I catch a Missingno. and corrupt my save data just to get infinite Master Balls?
I counted out the Pokemon on the map. All 151 are on there... but for some reason there are 2 Pidgeotto. (Bottom right quadrant, AKA Route 15, east of Fuchsia City. Mewtwo is pointing to them.)
Pretty much the only thing these games have going for them is that OST. I also like that they're accentuating female Eevee and will hopefully make them more easily available in later Pokemon games. I'm wonder how the gender selection of the starter goes in this game, though? They strongly implied it was a direct choice.
Oh my god that is the most beautiful gameplay trailer I have ever seen!
Open your eyes, Brock! FFS!
The game is still a scam but Eevee-ana Grande and her bangs make a strong case for it.
Unlike what a lot of people think, I think this game looks absolutely gorgeous! Had my pre-order for Eevee and the pokeball plus since e3 and can't wait to play this!
So are we going to talk about how the s.s. anne can't go anywhere. Its surrounded by land and rocks coming out of the ocean.
The game is beautiful and the music really takes me back. I went from being eh about this game to extremely excited. Preordered it today with the Pokeball. Good job Nintendo!
Can we talk about how the game has an actual volcano for Cinnabar Island, unlike RGBY and FRLG!?
I know the volcano appears in GSC and HGSS, but this map is nearly identical to the original and FRLG takes, rather than the sequel's proportions. In every other way, save the Safari Zone's replacement, this is directly designed after the original Red and Green overworld map.
Wait, did I somehow miss that all Pokemon can follow you again?!
That would be a good explanation as to why they are doing this spin off first, and waiting another year for the truly new game!
Mmm it looks really delicious and for me personally, it is even better that it will much easier be. That Map, music, smooth and enjoyable graphics... Can't wait to play this Nostalgia Kiss it's not for everyone. Get a life people, I think Gamefreak made really good choice with those two.
So I take it Space Shuttle Columbia will once again be removed from the Pewter Museum like it was in FR/LG?
I’m just so bummed there is no wild Pokemon battles. I’d buy it in a heart beat.
