This month’s CoroCoro magazine has revealed that a presentation for Inazuma Eleven Ares will be held on 26th August, potentially meaning that we'll finally find out the game's Japanese release date.
The game is currently planned to release in the west sometime next year, but the Japanese launch is expected slightly earlier in Q4 of this year. New information in CoroCoro also reveals that the game will have a 'Scout' system, enabling players to form their own team with any player from a wide selection of junior high school and academy teams in the game, as well as a command battle system which features high action and psychological warfare.
To celebrate the incoming news, Level-5 has also announced that the original Inazuma Eleven - released back in 2008 on Nintendo DS - will be made available as a free download on the Japanese 3DS eShop this summer. It's currently unknown whether or not this free download will also be made available in western territories, but those with access to a Japanese 3DS account will definitely be able to make use of this lovely deal very soon.

Welp, that won't mean anything for us UK folks. They released the original on 3DS eShop but skipped out on a UK release due to the Voice Acting or something along those lines.

To be honest, though I love Inazuma Eleven, the original is broken. It's incredibly easy with no grinding. Inazuma Eleven 2 is where the series really shone in my opinion.
That was unexpected! But I already have the game. I barely played it so far though, since I couldn't get my head around the gameplay. I do want to try it again someday though, I loved the anime. I have just started with the new series, Japanese with subtitles of course.
For a second there I thought it wouold be on Switch! It would make for an interesting cool-down diversion, but at this point I'm not likely to dig my 3DS back up, and especially not with its halfway torn thumbstick.
I'm all in for the new game next year, though.

I loved the original’s football gameplay, but I guess that won’t be possible on the Switch without docked touch controls. It comes down to what they have to replace it.

@MrGawain There are Inazuma games on the Wii. It'll likely play like those.

@Angelic_Lapras_King I wondered if they would have released it, since while the US only got the 3DS remake or port or whatever on eShop, they could've released the EU version?
i played inazuma eleven a few times on my 3DS and was fun! i like the scheme it had aswell as the awesome special moves you can do like the dragon tornado. someone on miiverse i forgot his name told me that it was coming to nx and i've wondered about it quite a bit and finally it's true. i'll just wait for it next year, inazuma eleven ares!
This is a series that Ive been interested in but never tried, so I hope the free download does come to the west as I'd like to check the game out.
