This week saw the release of Mega Man Legacy Collection and Mega Man Legacy Collection 2, but fans of the Blue Bomber have far more to look forward to this summer, with Mega Man X Legacy Collection and Mega Man X Legacy Collection 2 due to bring the sequel series to the Switch later this summer. One of the new features in this upcoming collection will be the ability to take on two mavericks at once in intense boss fights, and apparently there’ll be more to it than previously expected.
A preview that showed up in Famitsu has revealed that the X Challenge mode will actually be featuring its own original story mode, although it remains to be seen if this will be one story that covers both collections, or two separate campaigns. Some are speculating that X’s mysterious new white armor will somehow play into this, but we’ll have to wait and see. Still, it’s nice to see that Capcom’s focusing on doing this series collection well, hopefully it lives up to expectations.

Day 1 purchased althought im not a mega man fan
So many Iconic enemies in that picture... Magma Dragoon, Storm Eagle, Chill Penguin, Cyber Peacock, The Skiver (Spiral Pegasus), Blizzard Wolfang, Jet Stingray... and the whale that is a reference to one of the guys from Guns N' Roses. However, some feel out of place ... like the plant guy. I don't even remember his name but I'm sure there was someone more iconic to choose...
Ok... I have always DREAMED of a MegaMan compilation that had you playing through all of the original titles within the confines of a single adventure, collecting all the Robot Master abilities into a Master Arsenal and taking on an entire gauntlet of bosses before fighting Wily. This sounds like it might actually be close to that. Holy crap.
I mean this was already a day one purchase from me, but DUDE. This sounds too freaking cool.

His name is Wire Sponge. Yeah it's kind of weird he's on there. I Would have gone with Flame Stag or Magna Centipede to accompany Morph Moth as the X2 representatives.
It's odd that X3 isn't represented but all the other 2D games are.

I haven’t played some of these X series since the collection on GameCube. But I buy just about every re-release of X1. I’m really looking forward to this.
X1 is the best by far, but I still love the first four X games. I used to own all but X8, but these days I only own X1 - X3, so I'll be buying this as soon as it releases. Looking forward to having them all on the Switch, and the new content is definitely welcome.
Mega man x 5 was my favourite X game and favourite all time mega man game
@Tank207 I agree, in fact Flame Stag would have been my choice.The funny thing is, that guy Wire Sponge was also chosen in the Megaman Extreme games ( I think it was the second one), which were pretty much combinations of all the Megaman X games from the SNES era but for the Game Boy color. Maybe he's more iconic than what we think? Haha.
Oh and X3 definitely needs recognition in that picture. Tunnel Rhino would be a nice choice to give more "elemental variety".
I want this but the Capcom “Split Game” mentality is really dampening my excitement levels.

@FX102A Capcom always finds the most ass backwards way to do things and then somehow manages to go a step beyond that.
@Tank207 I'd pick Gravity Beetle for the music alone. @roy130390 I'm guessing they have Wire Sponge next to Chill Penguin since they're typically the 1st in the suggested Maverick order. Penguin for the dash boots, obviously, and Sponge because there's are heart tank at the beginning of his stage as well as an easy to find sub tank and it's a super easy fight.
@subpopz Follow the source link and you'll see a still showing off X in new armor. The prevailing theory is that it's a special armor for this mode that let's you equip weapons for all the bosses you've beaten. We'll have to see!
Might pick this up in spite of Capcom's decision to split the package. X1-X4 on one cart is still a fantastic deal for $40 ($32 with bb gamers club) considering the outrageous price that the original carts go for.
This is the Mega Man collection I have been waiting for. While I might pick the original collection up in the future, I had the first Mega Man Legacy Collection on 3DS and Legacy 2 is a mixed bag for me. I have only played the first X game before and I barely played it at that.

@diablo2 haha you got it... well, I got one of their compilations on 3DS, was very good, I was never a fan on the original nintendo, but the X versions seems to be solid. As I'm not a fan, this is a theory, so I'm sure I may be wrong!
I'll definitely check it out. As long as I can play X7 & X8, I don't care for much else. As for X3, no Blizzard Buffalo love?

I'm in heaven right now. Mega Man 3 was my first video game... ever. And since a small child I've been a huge fan. Even now, 34 years old, and I'm still playing the same games I was playing when I was 7. In fact most of my childhood was spent going to the local drugstore and asking the cashier if they sold MegaMan toys (I didn't know any better). The amiibo fulfilled that wish.
And now I have all these awesome collections on a hybrid portable console, AND a new Mega Man 11 on deck? It's unreal
