Nintendo has announced that a Mario Tennis Aces Pre-Launch Online Tournament demo will be available to play at the start of next month, with a prize being given out to all participants.

Running from 1st June at 3pm UK time, to 3rd June at 11:59pm UK time, the demo will allow players to compete against others for free, testing out their skills and (importantly) allowing them to see what the game is like to play. You'll be able to choose from Mario, Bowser, Peach, and Yoshi, and can challenge the "online tournament" as many times as you like. As you advance through the tournament stages you'll earn points based on your performance, allowing you to unlock another five additional characters to play with.

Excitingly, by playing just a single match in the demo (and keeping that save data on your Switch), you'll be able to get your hands on the 'Overalls Mario' costume for use in the full game. This costume is Mario's standard look, rather than his funky little polo shirt outfit, and Nintendo has lovingly provided the following image just in case you'd forgotten what that looked like.

In Japan, the top eight players of this demo will be invited to take part in a 'Mario Tennis Aces Top Players Tournament' on 24th June at the Summer Jisedai World Hobby Fair 2018; whether Europe or North America will receive similar treatment is yet to be seen, however.
