We're big fans of the Gunman Clive games here at Nintendo Life. These budget-priced titles may be a bit on the short side, but what they lack in length they make up for in fun gameplay and charming visuals. We last heard from solo developer Bertil Hörberg back in 2015 when he released both of the original 3DS games on the Wii U in the form of the wonderful Gunman Clive HD Collection.
While it might be easy to assume that Bertil is working on an inevitable Switch port on the HD Collection, it appears that he's got something a bit more fresh and funky on his mind... and it doesn't involve cowboys this time.
Nothing more than this screenshot has been revealed for now, lets just call it Project Giant Robot shall we? The visual style seems to be quite different in this game, so it will be interesting to see how it all turns out.
Bertil has confirmed that the Switch will be the lead platform for this upcoming game, so until we learn more, we wait anxiously. Let us know what you make of this screenshot with a comment below.

looks like a blast.
Gunman Clive 1 and 2 were both great so anything this guy makes next is worth a shot.
"lets just call it Project Giant Robot shall we?"
And eradicate the other one from our memory. I know I'm being a bit pedantic but it should be "let's" not "lets".
What can we say about the screenshot? It's cel-shaded, it looks nice and the game may be some robotic version of Rampage. There's an awful lot of bins lying around with their lids off. They need modern wheelie bins. Everyone seems to drive around in the same yellowy/orange car. If you look in the bottom left corner, I think you may be that person with the gun beside the car. Maybe you've been called out after the Robot didn't like his stay in the hotel and decided to thrash the city. There's a Gunman Clive billboard on top of the building to the right of the robot. I think that's all I've noticed.
A 2D side scrolling run 'n gun?
OK, I'm game.
So excited! Both Gunman Clive games were excellent, charming, creative and so much fun, I can't wait to see more of this!
Man, this is one of my most anticipated indie games from just a single screenshot. Gunman Clive was such a wonderful pair of games, and this looks like it's growing past them.
Horberg can do no wrong!
Horberg can do no wrong!
Looks fun... hope it turns out to be
Love the visuals and I will buy every game this guy makes. Gunman Clive 1 and 2 are some of my favorite 3DS games to play in 3D.
Just take my money!
@Winklebottom I can confirm this looks like a kind of blast on the screenshot
I'm very excited for this! I loved gunman clive 1 & 2 so I'm very excited to see what this talented dev will cook up next
He is super talented, so I have high hopes. Let's just hope this one actually releases, though, as Mr. Höberg has been notoriously abandoning projects for a while now.

I would triple dip on Gunman Clive on Switch. Just throwing this out there...
I enjoy both GCs. I'm interested to see what this guy has up his sleeve. As for the billboard, the question is whether GC is a real character in this universe, or the billboard is advertising a game.
I like the art style looks like we are in for another great game.
100% in. Gunman Clive was awesome and this looks awesome too. Full support from this fan.
@Shiryu : Same. I understand that Bertil must feel a little burned out porting the same game over and over, but I would love to buy Gunman Clive HD Collection on Switch.
Crazily, he might even sell this new game for less than the price of a cup of coffee too. I'm astounded by the sheer level of quality and polish of his games considering how low the asking price is.
I really enjoyed both Gunman Clive games, so anything else from this guy definitely gets a look see. Looking forward to learning more about this game.
A cel-shaded game with robots from the maker of Gunman Clive ? what's not to love ! i'm in !!! haha
I'm in so far. Hoping to play as the robot...
@BlueKnight07 The fact that the robot is on the right side of the screen and there's a stream of bullets coming from the little guy makes me think the player fights the robot instead.
@SmaggTheSmug That's true. But if the game plays like Rampage the screenshot would still make sense.
Amazing! Love his games.
