The year may be dashing past at an alarming rate, but it's a great time to be a Switch owner; February saw the release of Bayonetta 2 (with the original Bayonetta included of course) and Payday 2. 2018 may have gotten off to a slow start compared to last year's amazing release schedule, but now we're on a roll.
So, what's on the horizon for Nintendo Switch fans, then? We've complied a list of all the good stuff coming out at retail in March and April, so feast your eyes and prepare your wallets.

Kirby Star Allies - 16th March
The pink ball with an unending appetite is preparing to make his Nintendo Switch debut and he's bringing some pals along for the ride. It's still your usual Kirby platforming fare, only now you can play with up to three other players locally (or go solo with AI at your side). Abilities can still be eaten and acquired, but now you can combine them with your allies to create unusual combos for puzzle solving and platforming alike.
Detective Pikachu - 23 March
Wait a minute! Isn't this supposed to be a round-up of Nintendo Switch games and accessories we hear you cry? OK you got us, busted! We just couldn't resist listing this as the oversized Detective Pikachu amiibo is just so darn cute. The 3DS game looks good, too!
Attack On Titan 2 - 31st March
Nintendo Switch is finally getting an Attack On Titan game, with the hotly-anticipated AOT2 following the story arc of the anime's second season. If you're new to the franchise, the game takes the central premise - humans seeking shelter in high-walled cities while naked giants roam the wilderness trying to eat them - and spins it into an acrobatic take on the giant monster hunting of, err, Monster Hunter. The sequel enable you to create your own custom character but you'll be able to play as fan faves Eren Jaeger, Mikasa Ackerman, Armin Arlert and more.
Nintendo Labo - 20th April
Since its surprising reveal, Nintendo Labo has become one of the most talked about games on Nintendo Switch. Whether you're mildly intrigued or all in, this cardboard-based gameplay revolution is going to be one of the most important releases on the Nintendo Switch calendar. With two Toy-Con packs already announced, and plenty more designs shown off already, the new origami-esque concept makes for a tempting purchase when it arrives in April.
More Awesome Nintendo Switch Games
Other than Kirby Star Allies, Attack on Titan and Nintendo Labo there are lots more Switch retail games which might take your fancy in March and beyond.
Awesome Accessories For Your Switch
We saw a whole slew of interesting accessories released for the Switch in the past few months, but more are on the way. Here are some tantalising accessories coming up in March and beyond which we found for your consideration.
So that's it for March and April - did we miss anything? Let us know with a comment and also tell us if you've preordered any of these goodies!

Last year's amazing release schedule? This time last year the gaming press were predicting a massive flop because Zelda appeared to be the only game worth buying, weren't they?
Day One for Nintendo Labo Toy-Con 01 !
Not a lot of new original games happening really, Kirby: Star Allies and Flipping Death are probably the 2 best games for me. Though we need to see the final product and reviews.
Already got quite a few pre-ordered from various sources. Not too many are super exciting though. Probably most keen for Gal*Gun 2.
Almost nothing on the retail side, I hope Nintendo knows what they are doing. The eShop though... I just hope Nicalis won't mess with Runner3's price.
Well...I think the WiiU days are behind us.
Hello Kitty Cruisers?!? Hello take my money! Yes please.
That's a lot of games! Dark Souls and Wild Guns are the only must-haves from that list, for me; though I'll probably pick up Kirby and DK.
So . . . I guess the rumor about a South Park port was just a rumor, after all. Too bad!
@SuperCharlie78 I think the list is all retail, albeit mostly indies.
Dark Souls and Steamworld Dig are day 1 acquisitions, Kirby is a maybe depending on how good the single player is.
Still nothing worth buying a £280 console for, unfortunately.
Not much of interest 😳🙄 I’m getting tropical freeze even though I already have it. It’s a long way off though. I’d get Kirby but I’ve nobody to play with so it’s not really for me and the rest are pretty meh. I don’t like this eshop release see how it goes then make a physical version idea it’s just silly. When is snowboard kids 3 happening?☹️
Didn't know Steamworld Dig 2 already had a release date, nice! Lots of games that I want, especially in May.
https://www.nintendolife.com/news/2018/01/switchs_second_year_will_be_crucial_says_nintendo_president
Yeah, stella line up so far. Lol.
Kirby, DK, Adventure Time, Runner3, Dark Souls, Steamworld, Flipping Death, Owlboy...looks good to me. 😁
Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze is the only thing on there that stands out to be honest. (I never did get around to buying the Wii U version)
I'm hoping Burnout Paradise Remastered on the Xbox will keep me going for a bit
Unlike last year ... this year or at least the first 6 months of it so far is so boring for a Nintendo switch owner ... Kirby only the only good thing here
Coudn't care less about the Switch Attack on titan 2 game,I want really badly an european release date for the 3DS one.Or,at least,a confirmation that its going to be released worldwide.
Only Flipping Death and Donkey Kong Country for me
@Marios-love-child if you still have the Wii u hooked. Pick it up you’ll thank me later.
You can find it new for 17.99
@1UP_MARIO
I do as it happens, mainly as we do still like to play Wii Sports Bowling from time to time.
I'll possibly wait for some reviews nearer the time to see if there are any upgrades or improvements on the Switch version.
If it's basically the exact same game I'll probably take your advice
Dark Souls. That’s all I need.
Dig 2 on 12 April? I thought I already played it? Or did I?
Nothing for me. I might pick up Darkest Dungeon or Owlboy if either were to get a half-way decent e-shop sale in the coming weeks or months. Otherwise, I'll just wait for MT Aces.
Meh, Kirby looks fun, but I'll wait on reviews just to be sure. Same for Detective Pikachu. Otherwise, Ni No Kuni 2 & Final Fantasy 15 hitting PC in March!
@BJQ1972 Well, we are still waiting for that big Direct where they going to announce this amazing game line-up for 2018.
So far we only got a new Kirby game and Nintendo Labo.
@sandman89 Snowboard Kids 3? YES PLEASE
Like you I don't really have anyone to play Kirby Star Allies with but might get it anyway. Shame they haven't added online play.
Nothing for me at all. Only just got back into Zelda BOTW after Mario took over my gaming life so have many hours to put into it. Got Spla2oon recently too so lots to do.
I do like Kirby visuals but with no Online Co-op I will give it a miss. I understand peoples concerns over this years announced games but more will come. Mario Tennis will be my next retail purchase, even if it is in June, followed by Yoshi.
Amazon Prime members get an extra £2 off their Kirby pre-order.
This reminded me that I wanted to get Owlboy physical, never played it before.
So decided to pre-order, something to look forward to!
From that list I will only buy Darksouls, from what I can grasp Nintendo is in for one heck of a slow semester
Kirby Star Allies
Detective Pikachu and the amiibo
Alliance Alive
Ni No Kuni 2
SMT Strange Journey Redux
Street Fighter 30th Collection in May. Nothing in April because I’m buying myself a new iPad
Kirby, Darkest Dungeon and Dark Souls for me.
I’m very happy to see all the physical indie releases. I hope that’s a trend that continues.
What is this "Ultimate Edition" of Shantae? I have it on Steam, but it if has anything extra I may be interested.
Although all Shantaes are still waiting for me to finish the first one
@wazlon 😁 I’m going to see what the reviews say about it.
Why title the article "March and April" and then include 10, ten, games in May, (March and April each also only have 10) 2 in June and 1 in December? Why not title it "Games of Spring" or better yet "Games of 2018" b/c I don't think you left off any that have dates. Y's 8 is summer, not sure about a date.
Other than that @Jeronan already said it all. Kirby, Labo, and wait for the ND.
So what your actually saying is.....
March nothing worth buying!
April nothing worth buying!
Roll on May....
The ones I'm interested in:
Penny Punching Princess
Atelier Lydie and Suelle
Wild Guns Reloaded
Shantae: Half-Genie Hero – Ultimate Day One Edition
Gal Gun 2
Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze (or I may just get the Wii U version)
Blade Strangers
Mario Tennis Aces
Wonder Boy: The Dragon's Trap
Bayonetta 3
Some good titles to look forward to.
Did you miss The Alliance Alive for 3DS?
Wish Wolfenstein 2 were on here. The wait for the Switch version is killing me!
So basically Kirby. My money is going to NinoKuni2 and Yakuza 6 for March/April. If I have extra cash I'll get Aliance Alive.
The Switch lineup just has no heavy hitters like last year - it simply can't compete.
@SLIGEACH_EIRE Attack on Titan -the first one was really good! I'm expecting lots of excellent improvements for AOT2
No Hyrule Warriors Europe and USA launch date? lol
@BenAV grate so glad to here some one else looking froward to girl gun 2 makes me fell a little less odd
Kirby, Atelier Lydie and Suelle, Dark Souls, and Tropical Freeze.
Is Atlus waiting till 2020 to announce a Persona Q2 release date? What's going on with that?
Already preordered DK, skipping Kirby for the moment, I need to find out how much "meat" is there and if it's fully enjoyable as a single player experience.
Looking forward to grab physical editions for Owlboy, Darkest Dungeon, Wonderboy, Shantae, WG Reloaded and SW Dig 2... well sooner or later, I'm in no hurry
Just Labo for me.
Looking pretty meagre.
Steamworld Dig 2 and Shantae are getting physical releases? I'm in!
People need to stop comparing this year with last year. We only got their schedule until May. They are obviously saving the heavy hitters for mid-summer or the end of the year. Even then, we're never gonna hit the highs of last year, cause last year was stellar. It's kinda stating the obvious.
Kirby,. Scribblenauts, Labo, DK. Nintendo wants all my money lol
Attack on Titan comes out on March 20th, not the 31st IIRC.
@nintendolife Hey guys - Kirby Star Allies DEMO just went live in the UK store!
As a Nintendo-only gamer, and one who prefers to wait for retail versions, there is quite a bit for me on the way: Dark Souls- so excited to finally dive into this, Runner 3- loved the first two (heck, the wife fell for the second and almost completed it), SteamWorld Dig 2- been waiting for physical (it's been hard), Flipping Death, maybe Owl Boy. Fun times ahead.
I'm interested in Detective Pikachu, but don't have a 3DS. Was kind of hoping some version would be released for the Switch.
@Vindignant "As a Nintendo-only gamer"
Dude, take it from somebody who was a Nintendo only gamer up until 2014. Buy a second console. You are missing out on about 2/3rds of the gaming world. Not even trolling. 10 years ago I'd laugh at the notion of owning a Xbox. Today, I'm thankful for my XB1. Let alone a PS4! Switch is a nice change of pace secondary console, but if you're into all that is gaming, you're selling yourself short.
The first 8 weeks of this year have been boring being a switch owner, that list looks mediocre at best.
Why is the Detective Pikachu amiibo so expensive? It's almost as much as the game itself.
@rjejr Amazonlife, that's why.
I feel pretty meh about all this. Excluding Dark Souls, Kirby, Attack on Titans 2, Hyrule Warriors...
Huge chunk of April is looking really light - wondering if we're getting some announcements.
@EVIL-C Well they can still be AmazonLife and have proper article titles regarding the games being covered in the article. Otherwise it looks like they decided to have an article titled "March and April games" but then after they wrote it they decided there weren't enough games in March and April, so they added in more games in later months to fill out the page, but rather than change the title to reflect the article content they just lazily left it the way it was.
@Proust
Hey you!
Yeah I remember — we already talked about this. I still say it was silly to sell yours so early (especially before E3, cause Nintendo is obviously holding their cards), it's still very possible that Pokemon may come out this year. But hey, whatever floats your boat.
Super excited for Gal Gun 2, and am cautiously optimistic about Hyrule Warriors: Definitive Edition (never actually owned or played a DW game before).
@gatorboi352
most people don't have the time (at least working adults i'd imagine). i PC/switch (after owning all the things for gens before that collected dust) and I haven't gamed on the PC in months. nothing interesting there either imo. i checked the new release list for xb/ps and it was nothing to write home about. DBZ is the only game that's come out that even looks somewhat interesting.
though my lifestyle right now works for the switch. pick up, play some, put to sleep, do stuff. i don't care to be tied to a tv/computer desk anymore. just want a more powerful switch.
@gatorboi352 I hear you there, truly. I know that Nintendo at this point represents a small, if strong, part of gaming culture. If I had all the time I wanted to play games, I'd have a PS3/4. But as it is, I have 7-10 Wii u games I've barely touched/havent put in the console, I still haven't played Skyrim or Mario/Rabbids. I follow what's going on in the other ecosystems, just don't have time to engage. Family, work, other passions, hobbies, pastimes. There is a joke to be made about abandoning home and playing Bloodbourne til I'm a depressed slobby mess...
@Ralizah Hopefully Gal Gun 2 has less hell puns than Double Peace. Thou I look forward to it too
Acutually a lot for me here.
Maybe that Penny pincher game.
Need to do a bit more reaserch on Gundam. Was very disapointed that Breaker 3 was about playing with toys and not an epic space war.
Maybe Shantae, when I get a Switch. I already have TF as a Club Nintendo free download. It's pretty good. I've been playing it slow, though, like I try to do to most of my games, to stretch 'em out; I'm not made of money, nor do I have the free time to be a more than 1-current-major-console-guy.
March looks decent with Kirby, Scribblenauts, and the niche stuff. April is basically just Labo and Hyrule Warriors. May looks solid with Tropical Freeze, Dark Souls, Street Fighter, and Mega Man.
June onwards will be more exciting in my opinion, but there's still solid stuff releasing now, particularly in May.
I'm just getting The Alliance Alive this month.
The Adventure Time game looks interesting. Does anybody know if it's any good?
Hello Kitty Kruisers day one purchase game of the year fight me if you don't agree.
Soooo I see some of the games don’t have a US price point. Does that mean they’re UK-only exclusives? :/
Has everyone already forgotten about Hollow Knight!? It’s supposed to be a Q1 release so it should be right around the corner. Honestly, it’s the game I’m most excited for out of all of these. I’ll still be getting Kirby and Dark Souls but...guys... Hollow Knight, check it out, you’ll thank me later.
@rjejr I've grown increasingly critical of NL. Now I'm looking at an ad for Gravel on the front page; a title not even coming to Switch. I took a screen grab, but I don't know how to post it here. Maybe it too links to Amazon...? >_>
Nothing that really interests me for ages! A bit gutted if I’m honest. Next game I want is Donkey Kong as I missed out on the Wii U but that’s not out until May! Switch could be gathering dust until then
Pre-ordered Darkest Dungeon, I'm tempted by AOT2 but I've not really played the first one on 3DS yet (or watched season 2)... otherwise I'll be picking up Flipping Death on eshop most likely.
Still no battle chasers release? At this rate I'll pick it up for a £5 in a sale by the time the switch gets it
Damn it Nintendo Life! When I saw SD Gundam I thought it was being localised or getting an Asian English release!!!!
Ordered a few of the physical indie titles like Owlboy, Slain, Shantae and Wonder Boy. Pretty good selection. A but light on the blockbuster content but after Year 1’s bonanza I wouldn’t mind a break. Although may get Dark Souls and DK; heard they will break me.
NOW, lets review the comments shall we...
It's all about Kirby and Dark Souls for me when it comes to physical, lots of stuff will be showing up on the eShop too that I'll be picking up between now and E3.
I thought as soon as I mentioned it everyone would lose their collective minds. “Oh yeah! Hollow Knight! How could I have forgotten about the PC Goty (IMHO) coming to Switch?”
Get excited folks. It’ll be here soon, I can feel it.
I think. Maybe that’s gas?
Only preordered The Alliance Alive for 3DS, so nothing of the things listed.
@EVIL-C Ads on the page are controlled by Gamer Network, which also runs the ads for PushSquare as they are both part of Nlife and Gamer Network. So the ads are less about Ntinedo in particular, more about gaming in general. Though if I ever see an ad for a Switch game on PS I'll eat my shoe.
http://nlife.com/

I did actually complain once about 3-4 years ago for an ad for "Party Down South" or one of those horrible reality TV shows. It was too offensive for me for a website that was always preaching family values. I'm all for the family values, but the ad was borderline NSFW.
I really don't see ads any more though.
Still no need to purchase a Switch yet. Nothing of interest what so ever. Hmm...
I'm getting Hyrule Warriors, no idea why they haven't gave us the date for NA yet. :/
Chances are it'll be near Japan's date, but yeah...it's annoying NOA is being quiet.
I played the Kirby Switch demo and I watched a you tube review of the demo and today I am going to cancel my pre-order.
I agree with the review, much to easy, the game sort of plays itself with Kirby's team members playing by themselves. I will wait for more reviews.
Nintendo is due for another direct here soon. The Bayonetta, Kirby, and Pokemon franchises just don't really do it for me. Donkey Kong will be great and Dark Souls will of course be a day one purchase for me but personally I can't wait for Hollow Knight to finally drop on the eShop. One of the best 2d metroidvanias I've ever played and its soon to be portable. My productivity is going to take a big hit and I couldn't be happier about it.
@Proust
"Gladly sold my Switch last November to avoid having an inferior product by the time Pokémon or a new Smash arrives."
I told you it was silly to sell it before knowing what was gonna happen.
@Proust
Buying a new one at "any time" is not my point. The point is wouldn't you lose out on money selling, then re-buying the console within a year? You don't need to answer, I don't need to know your financials, but that's more or less my point. Maybe you sold it for retail value, and that's great if you did. Most people however, can't sell something for retail value if it's used.
It just seems you put a lot of effort into keeping warranties. Problems usually arise with wear and tear; can't wear and tear it if you aren't using it. Now sure, you could have an issue with it but those chances are rare, and that's fine if you opted to not take any chances. But your battery isn't likely to "die out" within the one year warranty, it's going to take a few years for that to happen, so you'll need to replace it yourself anyway, eventually. Just seems like a lot of effort to keep a valid warranty, but again to each their own. Sorry, just had to troll ya with the recent news, couldn't help myself.
I’m waiting for Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Edition,Crash bandicoot N Sane Trilogy because I haven’t played Crash Bandicoot game in a long time since ps1 days,Super Smash bros that’s really about it.
