Create Your Own Mario-Like Masterpieces With PlataGO! Super Platform Game Maker

PQube is pubishing Super Icon's platform game construction kit PlataGO! Super Platform Game Maker on Switch eShop, it has been announced.

Already available on Steam Early Acess, PlataGO! allows you to create your own 2D run-and-jump masterpieces using an intuitive drag-and-drop interface. You can piece together a fiendish creation - complete with jumps, enemies and collectables - and then press play to test your skills.

The game is packed with resources - such as level building blocks, sprites, cannons, teleporters and much more - and will allow players to choose from a number of graphical themes based on classic systems, including the Game Boy, NES, ZX Spectrum and Commodore 64. Once you're happy with what you've made, you'll be able to share it with other players.

It all sounds a lot like Super Mario Maker to us, but with a "Euro-platformer" feel which could make it very interesting and different.

Because that's what the world needs: even more indie 2D retro platformers!

I kid, the GameBoy style looks cool. But I wonder just how customisable this is going to be and if the games will have separate launchers.

This looks much better than Super Mario Maker! (at least to me) I wonder if there's an option to insert your own sprites or modify the existing ones?
Will keep my eyes peeled, although I prefer playing rather than building games

Definitely interested. Would love an RPG Maker for Switch too, the keyboard support should help with entering dialogue.

As much as I want Mario Maker Switch, this could be pretty good. I’ll wait to hear more.

Saw the headline and thought "meh"

Game looks good so far, but I'd need to see the full range of content (and price) before considering it. Love the Game Boy theme!

Anyone here familiar with Chicken Wiggle on 3DS? It's a platformer creation game like PlataGO!, but with completely different gameplay. You can also share your levels online and handpick from what others upload. Atooi plans to port the game over to Switch (with a new HD artstyle) if the KS is funded (hint: it nearly is), the stretch goals being a fully orchestrated soundtrack (by Grant Kirkhope) and more unlockable levels. The 3DS game is amazing and I've got more hours logged onto that than I do Mario Maker on Wii U.

The only reason Atooi is doing a KS is because, despite positive reception of the 3DS game, it sold poorly, likely because it released last summer when everyone was VERY high on only playing the Switch. So now, he's garnering interest to see if it's really worth porting over.

That Nintendo is accepting this one... There will be a Mario Maker for Switch at one point I guess so isn't it eating up sales for that one in the future?
