When it comes to zany, oddball ideas, Japan's gaming industry has the market sewn up. Take The Snack World: Trejarers, a cutesy RPG boasting an unhealthy obsession with foodstuffs and smartphones, which has just been announced for Nintendo Switch in Japan.
Swapping out a traditional fantasy setting for one filled with smartphones and convenience stores, the Level-5 creation already has its own line of NFC toys and an anime, making its debut on 3DS July last year and on mobile just last month. Unfortunately, it's been a Japan-only release so far, but its arrival on Switch could signify a localised version for the West. No news on a release date just yet, but we'll keep you posted.

I had info on the 3DS version bookmarked for a couple years and was very interested, but wondered whatever happened to a potential U.S. version. The jump to Switch makes sense; now hoping we'll still get it here...

This is awesome and all but, I believe there are two questions on everyone's mind:
1. Will the US be getting the amiibo-esque NFC figures for this game?
2. If so, will they be compatible with the switch version?

I actually was interested in this game, really glad it’s making the Switch.
These types of RPGs to be are no brainers, the Switch is perfect for these games.
