What will the event bring us?

The first big Nintendo rumour of 2018 relates to the next Nintendo Direct, which was hinted at by an apparent EA leak last year.

The word on the street is that the Direct will take place on January 11th, and while we've not had any official word from Nintendo on this as yet, evidence is appearing online that seems to add weight to the rumours.

Amazon in the US has listed (and then removed) a whole bunch of generic placeholder postings for new Nintendo Switch games, giving us perhaps the biggest hint yet that the EA leak was on the money.

18 games - ranging between $59.99 to $99.99 in price - went live on Amazon's US site. None had any solid titles, but each was accompanied by the text "Just announced at the Nintendo Switch Event. Box art coming soon".

It could be that Amazon was simply getting ahead of itself and doesn't in fact have any confirmation of the titles set to be announced, but it's much more exciting to imagine the opposite is true, and that this supposed January Nintendo Direct is going to give us a massive helping of Switch software to look forward to in 2018.
