Ever since it was confirmed for the Switch eShop early this year there have been some keen fans waiting for Enter the Gungeon. It's a smartly designed roguelike in which you go into a run with the hope that a mix of skill, luck and perfect drops will see you make it all the way through. It has some smart twists to keep you going, too, as explained by our chums at Push Square.
Well, it's not far away, as confirmed by the developer.
We really like the look of this one - the gameplay trailer below should demonstrate its case rather nicely.
So, are you tempted to pick this up?

Can't wait! Tough game but a lot of fun.
Loved this game on pc so a chance to play it on the go is a no brainer for me
Day one buy!!!
Gimme! gimme! gimme!
It was one of my favourite games of the year when it came out on PS4 and I can't wait to be able to play it anywhere and everywhere.
Should i get this or Binding of Isaac?
I got this on the PS4, played with my friend for a bit but I really could't get into it.
I very recently got into Binding of Isaac and I think it's a far better game if you're willing to splurge more and aren't turn off by the grotesque looks.
One of my most anticipated indies of the year, perhaps. Played quite a bit of it on PS4 alone and in occasional co-op (for which it had been primarily bought). Equally fun and hard (especially if you're playing to complete the plot goals - there's a whole set of different activities like secret rooms to uncover, puzzles to solve, extra dungeons to beat and key items to try and fetch around without getting hit), full of quirky weapons and punny lore, encouraging grind-spoiled noobs like me with the sense of progression as you get to unlock stuff and rescue important NPCs... memorable stuff. Can't wait to play it without the downsides of streaming.
I remember wishing it had been on Vita... ironically, they say it's actually in the works.
Uhhh...ahhh...whoa. Just surfaced. Been playing the Champion's Ballad for hours. It's great! This game looks pretty sweet. I'll have to check it out.
SOLD!
@lansyer Binding of Isaac is my most played game on Switch so far (550 hours). It's a lot of fun once you really get into it, I'd definitely recommend picking it up.
Looks cool. Those bosses look super challenging. Does it do 4 player co-op or just 2?
AAAHHH!!
SO looking forward to this
@frogopus I definitely like the style of Gungeon and prefer these graphics over Isaac's. But I'm worried about replayability because it doesn't have as much content as Isaac. Also Co-Op in this game looks way better compared to Isaac where you're just a small character dealing less damage.
Looks awesome!
@lansyer I’ve put over 300 hours in so I would say yes
This game is so damn awesome. Been playing it since I got it on the Steam Summer Sale. 200 hours already. And it's about to get more awesome (and more inviting to newcomers) with the new update.
@lansyer
Isaac all the way.
so much fun n so funny
Oh sweet I’ve been meaning to play this! So many games to play right now it’s crazy!! 😂
It's like, why do I even need my Steam wishlist anymore? Everything's coming out on the Switch, LOL.
Can't wait to dodge roll and kick over tables and survive bullet hellish patterns!
Like binding of isaac but funny and not grotesque...probably cheaper too. Count me in! Been looking for some portable Smash TV-like action.
I'll look into it. I'm finding the switch has a lot of games I never heard of but are good.
This is a good game. 👍
Tips: Don't shoot the shopkeeper.
@lansyer Isaac is definitely better if you only want one, both are fun though
@frogopus I could never get into this one for some reason. I really liked Isaac, and I loved Nuclear Throne, but something with Enter the Gungeon never clicked. It seemed like an inferior version of Nuclear Throne to me and my friend, so we always gravitated towards that one. Still, glad this one is coming over, as I know it is well regarded.
I found this deeply disappointing. It looks cool but got really repetitive really fast. Obviously some people love it, but my excitement based on first impressions, and the epic title screen, waned fast.
@BenAV, @lansyer
175 hours here... and God knows how many more on 3DS and Vita. Still nowhere near 100%! The way that the items force a different playstyle near enough every run is stunning. It really does feel different every time, and there is a lot of content. 182 secrets out of 375 here! How about you, Ben?
I have been waiting for this one. Love a rouge like. Now if only ftl would drop for the switch??????? A boy can dream.
This could become what Nuclear Throne was on my Vita: a great little title to fill a few minutes of intense action.
Oh, another Roguelike. Great.
Nah.
@Ooyah I've actually never really even bothered with the Secrets list but just had a quick look. Think I'm at 365/375.
i don't even know what i'm seeing and i want it.
This looks nice!
naaa im good bro.
exits dungeon
Well fancy that. People been saying good things about this here game.
Man the switch is quickly becoming an indie heaven. It's getting high profile Indies like furi, enter the gungeon, and hollow knight that the wii u only dreamed of
@lansyer Isaac. I’ve poured hundreds of hours into it. A blast every time.
Awesome game, and one of the best alternatives to Binding of Isaac if you are looking for something like that.
Also it is overflowing with gun puns and nerdy references.
Yes, this will pull me away from Xenoblade and Zelda.
Wow I want that. Instant buy! Take my money. That’s what I’m talking about. This looks like they nailed it. Very exciting.
Been so looking forward to this.
