Overcooked: Special Edition

We think Overcooked: Special Edition is a standout game in the Switch’s growing catalogue, but the one major problem to be found in this particular version is the relatively shoddy performance compared to other versions. Overcooked runs at a steady 30 FPS on other platforms, but stutters somewhere around 20 FPS on the Switch, which obviously leads to a noticeable—though not game-breaking—decline in gameplay quality.

Ghost Town Games has said in the past that it’s aware of the issue and is working to improve it in an upcoming update, but it’s been a number of weeks since launch and the patch still hasn’t shown up. A fan on Twitter recently asked if it’s on the way, and the developer responded by saying it “hopefully won’t be much longer now.” Perhaps the patch just got caught up in Nintendo’s lot check, but at any rate, we can at least expect the game to perform better in the near future.
