A while ago we shared an update on four upcoming Switch eShop games that are set to be published by Playdius, and the company has now confirmed a key acquisition and more games that it's bringing to the system.
As part of a Gamescom 2017 presentation unveiled in a press release, Playdius confirms that its parent company recently acquired another studio - The Sidekicks - and outlines its release plans for the coming year. Included in the list are a few games in the Switch eShop line-up that weren't included in its previous info drop.
Details on each title can be found below.
BAFL - Brakes Are For Losers - Q3 2017
Due in Q3 2017, this is a "top-down, single-screen racing game created as a tribute to good old games such as Super Sprint, Indy Heat or Super Off Road." There are 10 tracks, eight cars, local multiplayer options, time trials and leaderboards. It looks simplistic, but if it's a budget price we can certainly envisage it being rather fun.
Old School Musical - Q4 2017
This looks rather quirky, as you work through more than 20 levels in which various play styles are used for rhythm-based gameplay. There'll be story, arcade and scoring modes, along with the option for co-op play. The developers also state that there's a "full new vision of the game" to be shown since the 2015 trailer that you can see above.
Splasher - Q3 2017
This is a game we'd heard of previously, but now we know Playdius is publishing and that there's a release window of Q3 2017. It's a colourful 2D platformer with Time Attack and Speedrun options for those that master the core campaign.
Do any of these titles catch your eye?

Saw these are the ones bringing Hover Revolt of Gamers?
Ok I'm listening.
That Splasher is looking suuuuper dope. Like The End Is Nigh meets Portal.
Three games! Holy crap!
Splashed reminds me of super meat boy
I think all 3 of these look good ..especially Splasher. That looks great. I think Old School Musical looks almost as promising . Plan on checking both out
Splasher I can't wait for! Brakes are for losers maybe if it reviews well
Old school musical looks weird 😳
BAFL looks cool & retro- hopefully controls well!
On the fence with Splasher....
My kingdom for some VC on Switch!!
Meh. More I have no interest in. Where's Stardew?
Old School Musical looks more interesting than I thought, kind of Rhythm Heaven-ish. Not a huge fan of rhythm games, but RH was a lot of fun, may give OSM a try
Splasher it is.
So are these guys the next RCMADIAX? Can we expect another 10 games next year?
Man, I thought Nintendo said they were been selective about decent games on switch, doesn't look that way to me after looking at this trio of trash, wow must be desperate for any games
OSM and BAFL look interesting and fun to play with my girlfriend. But I'll pass on Splasher, it looks like my Nintedo-tendonitus would flare up by just watching it.
Loved Super Sprint back in the day. With a bit of depth and variety, and crucially a reasonable price (a fiver?) these could be good offerings.
BAFL Looks awful, like the worst flash game with horrible physics. The other two games but look great.
@cmk8 Super sprint was so much fun but pressing left or right on a joystick wasn't nearly as entertaining as razzing on a steering wheel and stopping it at the right time. Can't help thinking no brakes and barriers around the track might 'dumb and numb' the fun. Will wait for a review on it.
I love rythmn games but out of these 3 it's the only one I don't want to buy.
The music has to be spot on for me to enjoy it
Why does old school musical have Zelda graphics in it?
Splasher looks like pretty decent platformer. OSM on the other hand, looks like amateur hour. A total hodgepodge. "Over 20 musics"....really?!? I feel asleep!
Splasher looks so fun! Gonna grab that for sure!
@EDF I share your opinion regarding the other two games (god do they look aweful) but Splasher looks to be brimming with personality! No way can that game be compared to the other two!
Fun-looking titles all around. If the price is right, I could see myself getting all three.
@milliag These titles look waaaaay more sophisticated and less simplistic than RCMADIAX's usual output, though.
@bluedogrulez
Looks like a small team of French developers are responsible for OSM. The leaked concept slides for the Mario + Rabbids game had similar errors. I think it's a function of translation rather than of general sloppiness.
@Mainsaile: Sure. Translation errors are mostly just funny to me. The bare chested guy dancing, a stage ripped from LoZ: A Link to the Past, etc. makes OSM look like the gaming world's version of a junk bond. We'll see.....
