Capcom certainly took its sweet time, but the Japanese veteran is finally bringing Monster Hunter Stories to the west this September.
The spin-off title is shaping up to be quite a spectacle for fans of the series, and in order to maintain anticipation, Nintendo has just published a new trailer. Along with the video it's also confirmed that a demo will be available on 10th August in Europe.
Are you looking forward to getting your hands on this game, or are you one of the ones who bit the bullet and imported the Japanese version when it launched a while back? Let us know with a comment.

@Damo 10th August - demo, 8th September - full version.
Cool but I am still more interested in XX
That actually looks good. But I wish they would just announce a MH game for the Switch.
Can I just say the amiibo for this game is sublime. Some of the best quality I have seen in amiibo yet and the interchangeable riders makes a nice touch.
Such a shame they are not coming to the UK. I had to import mine.
I wouldn't be surprised if this was one of those games Capcom has implied it's porting to the Switch.
And this game looks gorgeous as well!
I've heard mixed things about the game. Apparently it's pretty easy, breeding is very RNG reliant, and the titular story part of it is pretty mediocre.
There's still fun to be had, but it seems more like a 6/10 game-- above average, but nothing remarkable.
I'm definitely buying it, maybe not imiediatly but as soon as I can afford
Yes, finally! Day 1 buy for me!
@CrazedCavalier You basically just described most Pokemon games. Easy campaign, luck-based breeding if you care about IVs, and very straightforward stories. Doesn't stop them from being insanely successful.
The real meat of the games are their multiplayer aspects, and what most players work towards after finishing the campaign. Seems about the same for Stories, though there are also some brutal single-player challenges hidden in the form of quests or post-game dungeons/bosses.
I pre-ordered this back during E3 to qualify for the 20% discount through Best Buy. Can't wait. Here's hoping the amiibo arrive as well. I have 3 of them imported, but I still need the remaining 3. Would be nice to buy them priced at Canadian dollars.
@meleebrawler Exactly!
@CrazedCavalier I preferred to check gameplays instead of listening to many players that were already accusing the game of being a pokemon clone or that didn't want MH to have a spin-off for some reason and from what I've seen on reddit, many of the community felt that way. From what I've seen (specially multiplayer) breeding allows you to have the monster you want (even changing it's element) but without giving you an absolute advantage like in pokemon, where competitive ones can easily destroy any casual player that hasn't done breeding and training correctly.
From what I've seen on many walkthroughs, if you like what you see in the trailers and you have real expectations (it's clearly a saturday cartoon story type of game that won't have much difficulty considering the target: kids) you' ll really like the game, specially if you are interested on pvp in which the difficulty and real meat of the game is. Exploration looks way more fun than pokemon games, considering that here you actually fly your creature. Same with "catching" since here you actually have to steal the eggs from nests without taking too much time or the mother/father/uncle/big brother will attack. Having a more dynamic game with beautiful animations that allows kids to actually approach the MH universe in a friendly way while also offering more to players experienced on rpgs or pokemon-like games is in my opinion, all they needed to deliver and they did. It even delivers a middle ground for those that haven't learned everything about breeding or that can't invest so much time in doing the perfect monster, since they can still win battles with a considerable possibility despite the disadvantage.
Wait, 8 Sep 2017 for USA version ?!
To me, this looks way, way better than the usual realistic Monster Hunter game, but that's just personal taste of course. I just want to know though, have they said ANYTHING regarding the amiibo of this game? I've been holding off on importing these in case they'd happen to release outside of Japan as well.
@Kalmaro Makes you wonder: Since Capcom seem to have based support off USF2, they may also base support off of this.... (As in MH going forward, not 3DS)
Totally importing those amiibos even if they don't function for a U.S. copy of the game. Such good detail. So stoked for this game to fill the void while we wait for World.
Still looks to be an amazing game!
@Grudgebearer I really don't feel like buying games I'm not interested in, just so that I can show interest in another game
Hope Mh stories for Switch, not for the 3ds.
I wish I didn't want every interesting new 3DS release to come out on Switch instead, but alas, I do. So this is gonna join the ranks of Ever Oasis and new Layton as a 'hopefully one day' game.
@Kalmaro I understand, very much so. But it seems that is what developers/publishers want of the Switch. Take Bandai Namco and Xenoverse 2/FighterZ for example. They want to gauge demand/see how much that mentality of "People only buy Nintendo IP for their Nintendo console" holds up I'd reckon. In aspect of that, I honestly can't fault them, but neither should we be victimized. Where do you draw the line?
@Grudgebearer not sure, but surely they know z fighters is the superior fighting game.
The player character's facial expressions at the end are just priceless! So insanely happy!
@Kalmaro I'd call that subjective. I love the Dragonball Xenoverse style of game, and I've been meaning to buy XC2. I've had my fill of 2D games and that includes fighters, especially since I know Xenoverse 2 will have extensive, online co-op, and with FighterZ that's uncertain.
@Grudgebearer xenoverse for me was more for the story. The fighting got boring very quickly but story wise, it was a blast to go through past events and see them reenacted.
And I thought Metroid would be my last big experience on the 3DS...
I'm so hyped for this game.
@Kalmaro I've enjoyed both aspects personally, though people have preferences. Just, in this case, it seems everyone wants FighterZ, but not Xenoverse 2. So when you then consider Bandai's, I suppose "ultimatum" we're set to have small, to medium XV2 sales, and no FighterZ coming.
@Grudgebearer I honestly can' t understand why so much interest from people in FighterZ. Yes, it looks beautiful, but it also looks exactly like many other 2D fighting games. Anyway, maybe I'm wrong and it's actually a blast but yeah, right now I'm the same as you, I prefer Xenoverse 2.
@roy130390 I didn't see much new or special about it either, so it may just be nostalgia. In fact, have a look here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MXLSqRfs3vA&t=1s
From what I see in that video, is a lot of 2D fighters. So when compared, I wonder, what does FighterZ do different that's so special? Or is it all to chalk up to nostalgia?
In any case, I will buy myself XV2, and if doing so contributes to further support, great.
A lot sooner than I was thinking.
This is the game engine? Isn't it better than XX?
Looks so good in my opinion.
English dubbing is a no then...?
My life will soon be complete
NA gets the demo Aug 10 too. Already have it preordered and can't wait to play it. Yokai Watch 2 Psychic Spectres is out Sept 29th and if you have Bony Spirits or Fleshy Souls save data Psychic Spectres will let you pick up where you left off in those games.
Is this the first turn-rpg from capcom since Breath of Fire?
Not getting it on launch (got a new hdmi capture device to buy as well as the SNES Classic), will get it soon, though.
too bad the game will not look as good as it does in the trailer
Looks fantastic.
... But I think I'd probably enjoy playing Ever Oasis more.
I'll watch for the demo.
... Although, if playing as Link from the beginning was a option, I'd start lining up now!
@ThatNyteDaez using the already accepted Fictional language that the original release has is far easier than dubbing the game and readjusting the scenes or delivery to fit the lines.
Day 1 purchase for me. I love the art style.
This is my last chance to try to like monster hunter. I wonder if Stories sold well enough in Japan for Capcom to consider making this a series?
I'll play the demo as soon as that's available, but I'm not sure yet whether I'll want to get this game.
This is the only MH game I want. The main series doesn't appeal to me.
@Ryu_Niiyama From what I understand, Stories bombed hard in Japan.
@Reginald Bummer.
@Really?! What about the parts/quests that weren't available in the original pair of games? And do you start with th evarious things you had in your first game?
Man and people here ask why third parties are so boneheaded in their choices for Nintendo consoles. With fans asking for this to come for another console (Switch), saying the game doesn't look that interesting until they have a costume of a Nintendo character and stupid things like that, no wonder we get the short end on the third party game (aside from Nintendo own choices and other companies bias).
I tried MH4U and thought it was utter garbage. I wonder if this plays better? It certainly looks pretty.
I like this game's more chibi-look. I am a real sucker for chibi rpgs so I'll buy this. Probably not at launch but I will buy it eventually.
Wow, Capcom have really nailed the 3DS' graphics with this one. I think I prefer this graphical style then the one in the main Monster Hunter games.
@Reginald It took the number one sales spot in Japan for at least one week, so 'bombed hard' seems a little inaccurate.
will there be english voices?
@Starbuster Okay you're right about that. But I think for overall sales, it didn't perform to Capcom's expectations.
I doubt Capcom expected a spin-off title aimed at younger players to perform as well as the main series.
@Grandpa_Pixel - They should do; the amiibo logo is present on the cover. I got a special deal on the Dan amiibo!
