Back in January a number of titles featured in the Nintendo Switch presentation from Japan, notably in a sizzle reel of upcoming games. One of these was Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2, and we now have a better idea of when that game will arrive.
Bandai Namco in Europe has confirmed an Autumn / Fall release window for the game, while also outlining some features we can expect to see when it arrives on Switch.
This version of the game will take advantage of the incredible features of the console like motion control option during the battles, local ad-hoc multiplayer up to 6, local battle with 2 Joy-Con, 1 system AND the chance to play wherever you want!
The fourth DLC set was also announced for the existing versions, as the game has been available since late last year on other consoles. We'd hope that the existing DLC will also be lined up and available when the game arrives on Switch.
Is this on your wishlist for later in the year?

Interesting! Wonder if it will be any good, I played the first one and hated it, but love the series as a whole. I think this was based on creating a character and changing the story slightly
So no online? There's no excuse for a company as big as Bandai Namco to release a fighting game in 2017 without online.
@OorWullie do not jump to conclusions, they never said that. They just said it will have those features as well.
I have been hyped for this ever since I saw it earlier this year. Been holding off getting it for PC so I can get it on Switch. Very excited for this
I liked Tenkaichi's motion pretty alright.
@Forill You're right, I should know better. Just seems strange to emphasize local play and not mention online.
The Big Gete Star allowed me to cheat motion controls! How can this be?!
Motion controls? Like the Tenkaichi serie on Wii? That may actually be a pretty a good thing.
Sure, it's not as responsive as a button input, but mimic a kamehameha never gets old X3
@Mooj738 I have this on PS4, and got bored after about four hours. I didn't play the first Xenoverse, so thought I would be well into this one. Unfortunately not, there are quite a few things that put me off of investing time into it;
Wooden character animations
Slow, jarring gameplay that doesn't flow/look fluid
Poor voice work and awful lip-syncing
Repetitive, annoying soundtrack especially in the hub world (where you will spend a lot of time)
Lack of dramatic/exciting gameplay when using special moves etc. for example, no 'beam struggles' (correct me if I'm wrong on this, but me and my brother tried to initiate one on VS mode several times using Kamehameha's but just couldn't get one)
I pretty much went straight back to playing Budokai Tenkaichi 3, which still has a semi-regular slot in my Wii U, even after what, 10 years? I'm a huge DBZ fan but Xenoverse 2 just didn't live up to the hype for me. Might try it again on Switch, however.
@OorWullie Its quite possibly because Xenoverse is an MMO style game. They probably assume we know it is online. Its nice to see decent local features however.
Do hope some extras are included. It would be hard to justify a year old game at full retail PLUS switch tax.
Looking forward to it! I've played the 1st one a little bit and it was amazing, especially the story-line. Too much nostalgia
@OorWullie nothing strange, I think - it IS 2017 and online multiplayer has become a commonality while local multiplayer feels like a borderline retro feature in itself. And 2-controllers-1-screen multiplayer in portable form is even rarer for consoles (if precedented at all). Makes sense to emphasize it among the main standout perks of the Switch.
I may get this, as I just got into watching DB Super several weeks ago and really got to love the franchise again.
I'm not sure about how much of this game will work offline though? I never played any of the Xenoverse games, but I recall they heavily relied on online features to build and interact with your character in MMO-ish fashion.
Interesting...
Boriiingg....
Yawn...
Nice! Never picked up Xenoverse2 so this is perfect. Would be great if it has all the DLC too.
Guys instead yawning just be happy that Nintendo gets finally more games on their system!
@Tsurii
I certainly think that the series has gone downhill since Tenkaichi 3.
My son got the first game on sale and the 2nd for Christmas., and he's always talking about the next DLC. DBZ is pretty much famous the world over and whether you like it or not, I'll never play it myself, it's a big 3rd party win for the Switch. Maybe not huge, but it's big.
If Switch version were to get the DLC included at one price that would be good. If this releases without the DLC this fall it better be $30 b/c it will be that price on other systems by then, if it isn't already. I think I bought it for $30 right after release BF.
Guys calm down. Xenoverse is an MMO game. Even if it doesn't have a lobby filled with other peoples characters, I imagine you'll at least be able to play with friends.
@Mogster I can't help but agree with you there. Budokai Tenkaichi and Raging Blast series are the best DBZ games to date - they simply can't be compared to Xenoverse. I wish the next DBZ experience after Xenoverse goes back to those roots and tries to revitalize that fighting system in some way. Because bringing it to current gen consoles would undoubtedly be a dream come true for most.
@OorWullie That's a worry since this game is more or less mmo like.
I just bought this on steam because it's half off.....
This is the game that tipeds the scale for me on my decision to buy a switch. I put way too many hours in on both of them on ps4.
Can't wait!
I really like this type of design. The ultra realistic type (that every PS/XB game has) is getting boring to me.
@JWesCampbell It's fine with great graphics, but fine graphics doesn't make a game either. We need both of them
I may double dip if it's worth having it on the go, or has exclusive stuff. I enjoyed both games thoroughly, I honestly just like playing as a custom character in the DBZ universe, it would be cool if we got a fusions port, or a spiritual successor done in Xenoverse graphics
I have no love for DragonBall but I'll likely end up getting this to show support/in hopes of fighting games I like.
Eh, I played the first game on my PS4 and despite being unable to beat the final boss, I enjoyed quite a fair bit. Inexcusably the best DBZ game I played. I never got Xenoverse 2 since I wasn't sure if it was worth it buying since I haven't really beaten the first, but seeing all these new exclusive features the Switch version has, I've no choice to make the switch
Day one buy for me!
I have both on PC and I love 'em!
@rjejr It actually just had a sale on Steam recently, $25. Honestly I can see them charging full price plus season pass, every other game that's released so far has gotten away with charging it because "new platform."
Cool. I missed out on this. If it comes with all the dlc, I'll bite
@BakaKnight A Hadouken works basically the same way, and based on Alex's USF2: The Final Challengers video, that isn't any fun at all with the Switch's motion controls.
Not sure if i would want to double dip, although the game is quite good and would be great on the go.
I think with a reasonable price and all DLC on board, i might consider it. Also, its nice seeing that devs support the Ad-Hoc multiplayer mode of the system, although it is extremely unlikely that i'll ever get a chance to fully experience it.
But i imagine 6 player local raid bosses will be a blast to play !
Actually looking forward to this.
I saw a famitsu scan a week or two ago and it stated that it would include all existing dlc and of course online features and a larger hub world among other additions not included here that I can't remember, for those who were wondering. It was referred to as the definitive version of the game. I'm really excited about it.
Definitely going to get this when it comes out on Switch. Never got to play this or the 1st one cause my PC can't run them. xD
@Not_Soos That's indeed a problem, but Bandai Namco did it right on the Wii, so we can hope...maybe XD
I still havent opened the first one for Ps4.. any good? Might grab this for the Switch.
@XenoShaun Really? The MMO style part sure made me get more excited for the game.
@RedMageLanakyn "new platform."
Someday, Nintedo and I are going to agree on something, its bound to happen eventually. Maybe not on this games price though. But it really shouldn't be $60 1 year later. I'd be ok w/ $39 and keeping the DLC separate.
@rjejr I paid $40 at launch and feel it's worth the price, although mileage does vary based on skill and participating in the online raids. I bought the season pass but don't really think it was worth it, just added some training partners and a few playables. I'd say if you can get it for $40, do it, especially since your kids can do battle!
Nice, not a big DB fan these days but the games look like fun. Even better to see a game coming to the Switch that doesn't look like an enhanced Snes game lol
The one I'm waiting to see is the Tales game Namco has coming to the Switch. I just bought Berseria on PS4 last week & going by the universe law of screwing me over, a Switch port should've been announced by now!!
Looking forward to this, if some of the DLC is included then this will be a day one purchase!
I am a huge Dragon Ball fan, I have seen every episode from DB to GT and I am currently watching DB Super.
@RedMageLanakyn Well we won't be getting it, my kids aren't big on double dipping. Anything I have to say is just based on general perception.
Q) Is this on your wishlist for later in the year?
A) Despite already owning the game on the Xbox One... yes! At least, given what I've heard from it so far.
The news that the original game's missions will be available (likely to compensate for the lack of the linking between the first and second games feature) and more so, that motion controls akin to the fantastic Budokai Tenkaichi games will be included in the game are big selling points urging me to double-dip. Truth be told though, the thing that would convinced me to double-dip immediately would have been Miiverse, but that is a fault on Nintendo's end.
It's rather funny; I absolutely hated the first Xenoverse game. It was a chore to complete. Xenoverse 2 was such an improvement over the original game, so many slight tweaks fixing the major problems of the first game, to the point where I keep finding myself coming back to playing Xenoverse 2. It's just got an element to it that keeps me hooked.
Never bought the Xenoverse games on other consoles and since I was a big fan of the motion controls implemented for Tenkaichi 3 = this'll be a day one purchase!
