Looks awesome! Both versions of the game.

I've only played rocket slime and builders. Has me excited to try other games in the dragon quest series.

I'm gonna take a guess and say this gets localized in 2018... for PS4/Switch. Gut feeling says the 3DS version doesn't get localized.

@IceClimbers 😢 I hope that doesn't happen! I need the 3DS version, it looks so unique. I may prefer it over the PS4 version, I like the retro feel and the 3DS is my favorite console.

I honestly don't love the pixel art for this game. The top screen version, however, is amazing. Here's to hoping that this game is localized on at least 1 Nintendo system. My hopes are high since we just got 7 and 8 not too long ago.

I can't imagine what a project it must have been to essentially make the game 3 times.

Both games look amazing and I really really hope we get them localized at all, but am I to understand that it's no longer a turn based rpg? When I was watching the PS4 footage at the beginning my friend thought it was for Zelda. I don't mind if that is the direction they are taking for this game, but I have not gotten much information on these yet.

Is the switch getting the 3ds version or ps4 version?

@AshFoxX it was said in Weekly Jump back in 2015 that the games will have the traditional turn-based battle system. I don't believe they've shown it in action yet though.

PS4 version. Every game for Switch has been console games. Not to say we won't see some upgraded ports of 3DS games (Pokémon Stars comes to mind) but they're already making a console version of DQXI. No reason in the world to bring a tiny, muffled handheld version (which depends on 2 screens anyways) when Switch runs console games and they're making a console version.

Ha, funny you should mention that. I've been wanting CivRev but it hasn't been added to X1 BC yet, so I got the DS version (and imported CivRev 2 for the Vita). But ya, totally different graphics, same game.

I don't mind pixel art when it's done well, but it looks lazy in this game, like SE is just pandering to nostalgia.

Pretty good-looking 3DS game otherwise. I wonder if the content is identical to the PS4/Switch versions?

It looks amazing. It all depends what console it will come on first. That ps4 version is off the hook. I hope it comes to the switch, but if it doesn't I'm picking up the PS4 version. Wow and wow. My favorite series. I log you 3DS and all but come on I want the best version. This is Dragon Quest. You better believe I want that on the Switch.

It looks great so far, but I dunno if I'll get it. I've still got lots of DQ VII left to play, and there's also DQ VIII coming out soon.

If the two versions are different enough, I might end up double dipping. Assuming they both get localised, that is.

This looks excellent, I love the differing art styles between the two screens. That will definitely add to the replay value, although I kind-of hoped they would have announced that we could swap and the bottom screen would have switched to inventory.

It will be interesting to see where Switch sits in all of this, so with the presentation coming from Japan I'm hopeful for a showing on the 13th January.

Just a heads up on this mornings European eShop press release. Don't expect any Nintendo games or VC titles to be on sale if Japan is any indication.

Which to say the least is very disappointing but I shouldn't be shocked as Nintendo are extremely stingy. Nano Assault Neo should hopefully be €5 or less. I'll buy that.

The game looks very good on the 3DS! Loved 7, looking forward to 8, bring on 11!

I'm playing through DQ7 right now... it's my first experience with the franchise and I love it. Best turn based RPG I've played on 3DS.

I really hope the 3DS version of XI makes its way over to the west... that said, I also hope the Switch version does.

But... it'll be weird not having a map on the bottom screen.

I'm going to have a hard time deciding what screen to look at.

I think this is my favourite use of a second screen ever! Forget maps and inventory!

@Ralizah "Pandering to nostalgia"? Enix has been doing that for quite a few decades now, it's kind of one of the trademarks of the Dragon Quest series.

(Shakes fist at Squeenix) Darn you Squeenix, for making a game that I will likely buy 3 times! JPN ps4, US NS and 3ds. Sigh. This is why I have no money. Here is hoping that NS and Ps4 look about the same (if not exactly).

I had no idea XI was coming to 3ds, awesome news.

I heard a rumor that the 3DS version will have turned based fighting and the PS4 version will have real time fighting like the new Final Fantasy game.

I'm thinking Dragon Quest XI gets localised for Holiday 2017. I hope we learn more at the Nintendo Switch presentation in January.
