Deals: Black Friday - New 3DS Super Mario Black & White Edition

It's shocking the Wii U isn't on sale this Black Friday. Nintendo has ceased production and this could have been a perfect time to clear out stock and have shelf space ready for the Switch. In fact, Nintendo has virtually no deals at any major retailers save the N3DS consoles for $99. That's a great deal but those will sell out fast.

@Nintendofan83 I agree. Its a real pity they haven't done something for the wii u this year. It would have been nice for the system to at least reach the 15m mark.

Will these only be available to purchase online this friday?

I'll settle for the mario 3dland normal sized new 3ds option.

@Nintendofan83 @Flashmanharry It doesn't make sense to drop the price/run a sale on the Wii U if you're ceasing production. The final limited quantity of units will inevitably sell (finite quantity), so you're only hurting yourself by not maximizing profits. In fact, that's a prime example of supply/demand being that supply now becomes nill. The opposite holds true for 3DS, where they want to still encourage and perpetuate the base for a little while longer.

I've heard that the White model will be less supplied then the Black one so if White's your thing, yeah get it as soon as you see one.

I'm going to see if I can get my hands on one. I can't justify spending $200 on a N3DSXL (especially after dropping $250 for a launch day 3DS), but $99 is a completely fair price for a replacement.

I hate to double post, but I just went on there and the pre-order went through.

I'm going to try to go for the black one at a local Best Buy. They will be open on Thanksgiving at 5 PM, to avoid any major early rushes. (Although I'm disappointed that Best Buy doesn't provide free holiday leave during the entire day for their workers.) Ordering it online is fruitless, as there's no way to beat the bots these days. The online ones are going to be bought by second hand sellers for sure.

GameStop also has this bundle on sale for Black Friday. It's not listed on their website but it's in their Black Friday ad scan which you can view online.

Just thought I'd mention this because GameStop can yield you up to $65 for an original 3DS, making the upgrade to the latest model only $35. I don't like GameStop but that's a steal.

Same here. It's weird that they would put it to be released at that time, yet have the preorders open early, especially on a product that was guaranteed to sell out quickly. Really hoping they still have some. I'll even get a black one if that's what it takes.

When exactly, none can say. Hopefully, they don't do what they did with the Fire Emblem Fates Special Editions earlier this year.

Thats a possibility. I went through hell getting my copy of the FE fates special edition, that sucked eggs. Regardless, Walmart definitely has them in stock right now. I just ordered one for myself, and one for my little brother. Hopefully they don't cancel my order due to multiples.

Wow, that sold out fast. I was able to snag a white one on there about 35 minutes ago. Just kept refreshing that and the Best Buy sites, and had an account all set up with shipping address and credit card info on both. Glad I read this article a little earlier tonight.

DId not expect Walmart to have it available online. So glad they did. Unfortunately it looks like I missed white once again
Anyway, not wanting to miss out on this deal yet again, so I ordered the black one anyway.

I'm also seeing a Best Buy review that has comments about people wondering whether the Black and White Editions have a Super Mario game.

Yes they sent me an email. I used paypal so I don't think the Billing address was incorrect. Probably the shipping address because it's a Pobox. The second time I selected the option to pick it up myself on a local store and still haven't receive a cancel notification.

It can take a while. Took me 5-10 minutes before I got my confirmation from Best Buy that they got my order.

So scaplers in Amazon have already started selling the $99 3DS for $150+. Meanwhile I was easily able to pick up a PS4 easily. Not to mention the 3DS seems to be out of stock everywhere.
Sigh. Nintendo really needs to fix their stock issues.

2018 would probably be the last year it sees any significant releases. Unlike Sony, Nintendo doesn't build their consoles to be viable for devs for longer than 6 years nor do they have a good enough relationship with 3rd parties to keep getting games made after a platform has "died" like Sony does.

This was one thing I was looking forward to alongside a new PS4 and now it looks like I may not have the New 3DS for Christmas (which sucks, because I already brought a screen protector for it and I'm not willing to spend more than $100 for one). I don't know, but I only ordered 1 black one on Amazon last night during preorder. There wasn't a quantity limit so I guess people bought many at once and Amazon is correcting their mistake by changing all orders to one unit. Win for the little guy. @Vee_Flames Success! They sold out of the White New 3DS almost immediately, and had 3 of the Black ones left after mine. Several of us frantically checked the gaming section to no avail- had to go straight to the checkout aisles, first come first serve. They must have had maybe 10-15 in all. A few other people beside me got theirs, and I didn't even see all of them. They had plenty of New 3DS XL's though- closer to 30 of those. There were over 100 people in line outside, stretched to nearly half of the block. (Most people were getting different electronics, though.)

Arriving 2 hours early was worth! Good luck to everyone else. These ones have probably all sold out nearly nationwide by now...

The Walmart store here (rural Virginia) only had 10 of them total, and there was a long line to get into the video game section where they were located. I looked over a barrier into that section about 40 minutes into the Black Friday sale, and only saw one (a white one) left. That line for video games probably had 70 people in it. If anyone MST/PST is going to try to get one, definitely go early! Why only 10 Nintendo?!

@PlywoodStick Awesome. This feels weird to say this (cuz, ya know, Nintendo), but congrats on grabbing a New 3DS. I'm going to try heading to my GameStop tomorrow morning and see whether they have some in stock, but I'm really not counting on it. And I'm starting to lose hope on continuously refreshing pages every minute. I think I'm not going to get one eventually. Which is quite disappointing.

@Vee_Flames Thanks! It was a 5 and a half hour round trip (including the 2 hour camp out) for me, but I only had the original launch model 3DS beforehand, so I feel like it was worth it for a newer model going this cheap, of which may never appear again.

It's unknown if there will be more tomorrow or next month, but if they are, this site will list it almost immediately. For example, the last Super Mario (white edition) model in stock appeared at 8:06 PM EST on Walmart's site, taking about 12 minutes to sell out.

So, the console that Nintendo was advertising as going on sale on Black Friday, which technically it won't be Friday for another 100 minutes, has already sold out? I hope people aren't lining up at 3 in the morning waiting for store openings tomorrow.

@Vee_Flames I'm glad you were able to get one! First found that site before the Fire Emblem Fates Special Edition launch. Wasn't able to get one, since it was too difficult. But the site can be helpful for anything short of that or a holiday Wii rush. You can see on it that even this New 3DS goes out of stock within 4-50 minutes after returning in stock.

Congrats on getting what you needed for the holiday! It'll be interesting to see how the Switch launch turns out...

@KidRad It's funny, I've been steadily going over to PC myself. Wii U just didn't do it for me like all the previous home consoles, and 3DS didn't claim quite as much of my time as DS. Hopefully, the S(and)witch will make a nice snack. Here's hoping it doesn't turn out stale.

I've had a Super Game Boy for years now. Using some color palette guides helps to spruce up the otherwise drab looking GB titles, and it has custom palettes for some games like Donkey Kong '94. And of course, back in the day before low discharge rechargeable NiMH AA/AAA batteries existed, it kind of paid for itself if you already had a SNES by not needing batteries. Nowadays, it's redundant, with all the options out there for playing GB titles. Not to mention it's only good for single player and hot seat multiplayer, it's obviously useless for link multiplayer.
