Even when there are no movies or only controversial prequels, Star Wars games are ever-present. As many as we've seen, however, there are always those that go to the Dark Side and never see release.
Liam Robertson, Unseen64 and Did You Know Gaming? have now shared a video that looks at some titles that bit the dust, with plenty of attention on the work of Factor 5 and a Wii title that would have made extensive use of motion controls. Oh, and a LucasArts one with Chewbacca as the main protagonist.
It's always interesting to take a look at games that never made it onto our consoles; the Force wasn't strong with these ones.

Great job, Liam.
They were all destroyed by a giant laser?
I just came from Youtube where I was watching that video. The Rogue Squadron games were great.
Edit: Look at the 12 minute mark and all the control option choices Factor 5 implemented. How many choices did Star Fox Zero give again? 1. And it's rotten.
Great video
Great tagline
I wish the scope was a little wider. There were canceled Star Wars games as far back as the 2600. This didn't feel very different from the previous Factor 5 canceled games video.
Joke about Alderaan: Too soon...
With the law suits out of the way and the way things are going now with people releasing brand new games for old systems like the SNES, I don't think it would be a problem if Disney were to go ahead and publish a finished Wii game that they happen to have in their archives. I'd certainly appreciate it. We never did get that MotionPlus lightsaber game that we always wanted.
At the very least maybe one day the game will be leaked online like Star Fox 2 was so we can play it. It's not piracy if the game never came out in the first place.
It would be very easy money for Disney to release this. The reputation of the series and the promise of those new modes would be more then enough to get gamers to buy it.
Only thing in the way is the many control options (Wiimote, Balance Board, etc.) but hey, maybe you can work something out with Nintendo by actually giving us a SW game. Perhaps they could even do what Rodea the Sky Soldier did by including the original Wii version on a Wii disc?
@Angelic_Lapras_King I'm sure there will be re-releases for the Rogue Squadron games...for every console but Nintendo, as usual.
This is the game we all wanted. Great flight mechanics using the WiiMote, 1-1 lightsaber duels, and multi-player through the old campaigns. So depressed this was never released.
@WhiteTrashGuy
The Wii never had 1:1 motion controls though (although some games came pretty close to feeling like they did).
A Wii lightsaber game could have been fun, but I bet it more likely would have felt clunky and awkward. (T_T )
I would have preferred a more polished multiplayer game like the one in Force Unleashed 2. A Star Wars Smash Bros clone would have been awesome!!
Interesting, a few things I never knew before. Luke Skywalker joined the rebel alliance and destroyed the Death Star. Plus the speeder bike chase was featured in Return of The Jedi.
You learn something new every day 🙄
@AshFoxX I guess that would just make it plain old theft. Im up for that. Quite depressed this never got released.
Sigh, well hopefully in 5-10 years the game will be somehow leaked since it was completed and we can all just play it on Dolphin. But first we need the completed version of Star Fox 2 to be leaked.
@AVahne That's already been out for quite a while. Obviously I can't link to it, but you can find it on The ISO Zone or on Emuparadise, along with a slew of other betas, unreleased games and also translated roms of a whole range of systems varying from 8-bit to Dreamcast and so on.
@ThanosReXXX
If you're speaking of Star Fox 2, I'm pretty sure what's out are just incomplete alphas, betas, and fan-fixed copies. There's word that a truly complete, retail-ready version of the game exists, but they won't release it.
@AVahne Well, I played it and it seems pretty complete to me. Just look it up on one of the sites I mentioned and try it out for yourself.
@AVahne By the way, if you want to be sure, just go to The ISO Zone. Contrary to Emuparadise, they always mention if a game is a beta version or a complete, unreleased game and often times there's some documentation to go along with it. Especially the Dreamcast section has a lot of commercially ready yet unreleased games.
